  • can you buy them built or do you have to build them? how much does it cost either way? would love to make a 4runner one aswell just in red and white

  • that is awesome! i want to build one to match my 4runner!

  • hahaha, love the way you filmed it. Just as if it's .. I dunno. Just awesome xD

  • AWESOME!

  • @odstjj75 -Thanks!

  • I think the moon or mars would be a rc crawlers dream! Lol lets all saveup and book a rocket! Haha yey ... Mint vid!

  • @oobrianoo -Thanks!

  • wtf are you serious, this is fucking retarded get a life or a real 4 runner

  • @mrwho1923 -This is an EXACT replica of this guys real 4-runner, right down to the missing trim.

  • @pantablo it is a remote control I thought it was a real truck!

  • @mrwho1923 umad?

  • At 0:55 I thought it was Godzilla.....

  • nice ride dude

  • @rednexRC -It's a beauty for sure. And the owner (not mine) does drive it from time to time, gingerly. At least its not a shelf queen. Really an amazing build.

  • that body is awesome. i had one just like it but the real thing. wish i would never have sold it. now im building a axial scx10 to look just like my real jeep unlimited that im building for wheeling. GREAT JOB

  • its a really slow rc car

  • @ZOOMBIEKILLLER -Very slow on purpose. Rock crawlers need slow speed and torque to operate best.

  • rc4wd have this body listed looks very close

  • @450hp202turbo -Its not very close actually. First, its a newer generation of 4runner. Second, it's lexan so its not got nearly as much detail, even with the hard plastic grill and such. Although its fine if you just want a 4runner and its cheap relatively.

  • Aside from the guy in the video at 2:37, you could've muted the audio, put in some music, and it would pass as a 4runner on tons. Especially, with the onboard cam views. This could fool a lot of people into thinking it was a 1:1 scale truck on a trail.

  • @FTORC1 -Thanks. I definitely try to give the sense of realism in my videos. This 4runner actually looks EXACTLY like the 1:1 he owns. Even the stance on the axles and tire height.

  • @GWARIOR666 -Wish you could buy one. This was hand made, custom. There are some, much less detailed and less realistic, 4runner bodies available though. Grab an SCX-10TR or HOncho and a 4runner body from RC4WD and you're set.

  • more onboard cameras haha

  • wow that is impressive. It got me fooled at first. I thought it was a real car but it keeps on making that sound. That peculiar radio control toy car gives it away otherwise it hard to tell. Good job.

  • @dragonvue09 -It is a work of art. A friend made this from scratch practically. It's an exact replica of another friends full size 4runner, down to every exact detail. This video doesn't do the detail in this justice...even the headlight lenses say "Sylvania" for pete's sake, lol.

  • My dad didn't realize this was an RC until 0:45

  • @MrCreatureofHabit -lol, its fooled a lot of people. This is an exceptionally well detailed and accurate representation of the owners 1:1, right down to the missing moulding, lol.

  • @pantablo heyy man i have a real 1985 4runner haha anyways where did u get that rock crawling hilux from or is it a high lift toyota hilux cause im gunna buy one please answer

  • @yz125freestyler -thanks. That started out as a hilift hilux but only looks like that after a LOT of custom work done with styrene.

  • WHy is there no high pitched beep from the motor when running ( I guess from the PWM frequency??) like most other RCs have??

  • @joeyisfunny -I think the high pitched beep you're referring to comes from the electronic speed control, not the motor itself. Some high end ESC's make that type of beeping noise. He doesn't use a high end ESC in this.

  • @pantablo Nope, its actually from the motor. Its the pulse width modulation frequency coming from the digital output on the ESC. The switching current moving through the coils in the motor create an audible sound at the frequency of the pulse, usually around 100Hz - 2kHz. I cant figure out why theres no sound coming from this one, unless the switching frequency is out of audible range or not produced at high enough decibels??

  • @joeyisfunny I've never heard any such noise on my rigs and have only ever heard that from higher end esc equipped rigs.

  • @pantablo Really? My stock esc cc-01 does it like crazy!

  • @joeyisfunny -really. N Obeeping noises from my rigs...I've only ever seen comp rigs do that, or scale rigs with the same high end setups in most comp rigs.

  • @pantablo Heres perfect example!

    ...com/watch?v=lLXteyTd8t0

  • @joeyisfunny 0oh THAT. That's what I would call a hum, not a beep. Don't know if the 4runner does that or not. I dont think it does. not sure why.

  • @dmncsantaniello -body started as a previous generation toyota truck, the "Hilux" that Tamiya makes. Then it was heavily modified adn added on to using sheet styrene, glues and lots and lots (and lots) of sanding. A friend made it and at one time I estimated over 100 hours in it. It is spectacular in person though.

  • Respond to this video... Gotta get that to match my real 4runner crawler. baddest rc ive ever seen. u rock man.

  • @MrKeithatkinson -I'll pass along your kind words. I didn't make this nor did the owner. A friend made the body for another one in our group. It's pretty stunning in person. This video doesn't do it justice. it is an EXACT replica of the guys 1:1 4runner. Exactly.

  • Give your friend a pat on the back for a great job on his truck body, and your video wasn't too bad either!

  • Thanks pedwardm, I will. It's still in his fleet of toyotas and of course his favorite. Nice to see he's not afraid to scratch it too, although he does baby it a bit, lol.

  • where did he get that body can u tell me please belive it or not my truck looks exactly like that to the tee

  • I believe it. The owner of that rc truck also has a 4runner that looks exactly like it, lol. This 1:10 scale beauty was made as an exact replica of his, right down to the tire size, hole for missing rear fender trim, etc, lol. This body is hand made. 100's of hours of work and is magnificent in person. You can buy a lexan 4runner body at rc4wd though.

  • @pantablo sick thanks aloha from hawaii. haha

  • can you please tell me if those are the T-rex 60 axles ???? on the 4runner

  • @luv2ridemxxx - That is correct. T-Rex 60's

  • very cool hobby ............ awsome video to go along with your passion .......... !

    liked this alot man

    cheers mate

  • Thanks lolahavasuaz. Its just as much fun building them as it is driving them. Great thing to do with the kids too. My 7 yr old drives the orange 4 door toyota.

  • that is the coolest thing a i have seen all week! looks real

  • Thanks mattskater345. I can take credit only for the video. That's my friend's truck and its an exact replica of his 1:1. Exact. Its stunning in person.

  • Nice. I finally made a video of my cheapo wal-mart truck lol....I posted it on my channel. Shot at "Avenue J Rocks" off-road park (a pile of rocks in my back yard) haha.

  • Thanks for your Subscription to mate !

  • how expensive are one of this great toys?

  • It varies greatly. You can get started with a nice rig for about $300-$350 or so. Maybe slightly under $300 if you start with the very capable SCX-10TR. This particular one will cost you much more though. There's quite a few hundred dollars just in parts (axles in this are $200/pr) and the body took 5 months to make from scratch.

So, $300 to infinity...its a great hobby though. Great fun building these and driving them.

  • you know rc4wd makes new 4runner bodies now :D

  • Yes, they are lexan though. Apples and oranges...

  • lol! aint this styrene? hahah

  • Styrene is hard plastic, like ABS plastic. Think of 1/24 scale models. The "hardbodies" that come with Tamiya Hilifts, etc are ABS/styrene. Lexan is flexible clear plastic. lean it against a rock and it will fold under. Totally different things. Also, you can't get the same level of detail in the lexan shell at all.

  • ohh,, cool!! i didnt know that! thanks man B)

  • how much are those?

  • The white 4runner you see is probably $400-$500 not including the hand made body. That body is a one-off hand built body that took 6 or so months to make.

  • badass. i love it. how much to build a replica of mine ;)

  • I agree, dylandec08. Wish I had the patience and skill to make it. Friend of mine made it. And I don't think there's a price he'd accept to do it again, lol.

  • i completely understand- but tell your friend his attention to detail is phenomenal- makes me want to look into doing my own- now if i could just get the wife to let me spend some more money..lol

  • Will do. This doesnt even do the details justice. Seriously. His headlight lenses have the identical lines as the 1:1 and also say "Sylvania" on them (he had the lettering etched on). It's insane in person. Funny thing is, the 1:1 he copied has those exact tires and they are accurate to their size! The 1:1 looks EXACTLY like that.

  • is there like a parts list on some forum somewhere that describes his build and the parts he used? id like to start making my wish list.

  • You have a message...

  • omg i want this haha it looks just like mine

i havent played with remote control cars in forever but thats a really cool video

  • Thanks jtf93, lol! Funny enough, it looks exactly like the owners 1:1 too, lol. It was made as an exact replica, right down to the missing trim (and exposed hole for trim mounting!).

That 4runner body is all hand custom made by the way.

  • I sooo want one!!! where can I get one and do they deliver to Australia??

  • All hand made. You'd have to build one yourself.

  • really damn is it hard to make

  • Very time consuming but not extremely difficult. If you've never done model work or worked with styrene it will be quite challenging. Doable though.

  • was the 4 runner body made by someone?

  • Yes. One of the local regulars made it. He started from a basic Hilux body then cut some away and added a bunch of shaped styrene, then finishing it off with lots of sanding and filling. I'm oversimplifying it though. Took him about 5 months to do the body.

  • 4Runner 4Life nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks! Its got quite a bit of time in it as the body is nearly all made from scratch.

  • Wow they look real

  • Thanks! Quite a lot of work goes into them, particularly the white 4runner.

  • awsome video love the cars and i want 1

  • Thanks. this particular body is hand made but you could start with an Axial SCX-10 or a Tamiya Tundra/Hilift/Hilux kits. Good starter rigs that are easily modified later.

  • Very nice work, credit to the builder! I looked in scale4x4rc in the forums and couldnt find a "Top Builds" forum. Could you post a link? thanks! Great vid :)

  • you have a message.

  • i know u guys arent selling nayone who is?

  • not at the moment. what are you looking for specifically?

  • a 4runner body not the oldie but the new 2010 (09) one, or any 4runner body but really wanting the new one kno anywere i can buy one? or get one?

  • the only one that exists is a vintage Kyosho lexan body-very hard to come by. everything else is hand made, including this one.

  • thanks, but will tat fit the highlift? (new to this but want a cool body l0l)

  • Sorry, I honestly dont know if it will fit the hilift directly. its not difficult to adjust the wheelbase a bit if needed though.

  • thanks there is none out ive seen so i guess il stay with a regular body, or do u know were i can find the new hilux body? the latest hilux u know which one im talking about?

  • check with RPPhobbyDOTcom. they usually have very good prices and a good stock of them. They carry the ford f350, old hilux, new hilux (you mean tundra?), chevy clod body as well as others. Great customer service too.

  • no not the thundra but thanks, theres alot of cool stuff there, (in ur oppinion wats better looking the hilux or the thundra?) cause i really dont know wats better looking haha

  • personally like the hilux better but both make some mean looking trucks.

  • agreed, the hilux also is the truck that never dies, (check out top gear they did eveything they could to kill it,!!!)

  • I've seen it. Big fan of Top Gear!

  • haha its so awsome how all they manage was to just crack the chassi!! im a big fan 2! have u seen the stigs real identiy?

  • don't be fooled. Schumacher is not the stig. ferarri only lets certain people drive their cars and he's one of them. I suspect its Neil from Fifth Gear actually . Can't think of his last name at the moment.

  • yeah or it can also be awoman and they just dont want to show its a ladyu know how ppl are u get me?

  • man that gets alot of travel for leaf springs

  • several of the leafed rigs that come out get good travel. More due to getting broken in than any mods...

  • very nice job on the body..... at some points looks like the real thing...

  • Is there a 3rd gen 4runner body out there?

  • yes, but it is VERY rare. In the 90's Kyosho made a lexan 4runner. google it to see what it looks like. the body alone is worth quite a bit.

  • Ya if you guys do make a lexan copy, I'd be in for at least 4 bodies no doubt!!!

  • its not something we're actively working on. sorry guys.

  • sombody mold that body in lexan!!!

  • we've talked about making another as a mold but this one wont be used as a mold since it would ruin this body...its exceptionally done!

  • that looks so nice man! what make is the rc? i need a rockcroler

  • Custom scale chassis, RC4WD t-rex 60 axles...pretty much all custom. Not a kit. If you want a crawler check out Axial's SCX-10. its a great base to start from.

  • ace vid man great job

  • Thanks brindo1723!

  • you should run leafs on it

  • its got front leafs already.

  • would love to contact your guy about building a zj grand cherokee body! please let me know if he would be interested!

  • he is Youtube user SebringMGB so you could contact him directly yourself. At the moment I know he doesn't have access to computer and wont for a month or more. He may get sporadic access though. He used to be more regular but had a life changing event and is a little disconnected from the internet world at the moment.

  • thanks alot mayne. allways shity when the hard times come. i will try to contact him. a scale zj to match my 1:1 zj would be so sick!

  • wow that 4runner looks badass. sounded kinda like my 1:1 4runner for a sec =p

  • thanks keenart. thats a one-off hand built body. the guy that built it is a master...

  • is there a build on rcc by anychance? this is phase10 btw =P

  • not one on rcc but there is one on scale4x4rc. its in the Top Builds forum.

  • man it looks so real when it is at the first part of the vid man its great i love this vid every thing looks so real

    James

  • its a pretty stunning peice of work in person too. the guy that built that 4runner body is amazing.

  • 2:51 - 2:58 was quite thrilling

  • thanks nolopasoro01! glad you liked the onboard shots.

  • wow... I have been thinking of making a scale model of my truck. this is too cool.

  • its almost an exact replica of his 1:1 truck, except for a tiny dent below the drivers taillight, lol. Otherwise its all there...

  • where did the 4runner body come from?

  • I didnt make it but know the guy who did. It took him 4 MONTHS of solid work to get that body. Its pretty much made from scratch but he used the Tamiya Hilux as a base. You could take a Tamiya Hilux body and get similar results with lots of time, patience and styrene...

  • wow, ya i don't think I'll be making anything like that anytime soon, I just got into the hobby & am just starting my first 100% build from nothing. Thanks for the reply.

  • sweet wont be for awhile though.

  • i could see when i visit my grandpa...

  • sounds good. let me know when you'll be in town and we'll set up a get together. bring your rig, lol.

  • i want to see.....

  • in person? you'll have to come out to Vasquez Rocks Park (near Palmdale/acton in California). He's there almost every sunday.

  • too real

  • and the video doesnt do it justice. its incredible in person.

  • i like it

  • the 4runner is pretty stunning. the owner is very happy with it.

  • awesome work on the body... Kudos :)

  • I wish I could take credit...I'll pass that along to the guy who made it.

  • Sell me that!!!

  • hahaha, he's taking that to his grave...

  • thanks man

  • that looks so real i wont a body like that for my truck

  • I didnt make it but know the guy who did. It took him 4 MONTHS of solid work to get that body. Its pretty much made from scratch. You could take a Tamiya Hilux body and get similar results with lots of time, patience and styrene...

  • ahhhhhhh theres a giant at 2:40

haha can you take the top off the 4runner

  • giants keep following us, lol...

Yes, the 4runner top is removable.

  • thats pretty bad ass

  • thanks. the 4runner turned out amazing. The guy that built it is a true crafstman. its an exact replica of his 1:1. I mean exact!

  • i though it was real until i saw the 1/10

  • In person it looks like a full size truck thats been shrunk. its got that much detail.

  • at starrt it looked so real

  • thanks. I was trying to make it as realistic as possibly, mainly because the driver/owner has this exact truck as a 1:1.

  • i like this 4Runner where did get it

  • He made the body from scratch. You cannot buy this body anywhere. There is only this one in existence.

  • atleast 4 now lol

  • there are a few people that have converted their hilux pickup bodies to 4runners but none with this level of exacting detail.

  • i hope to see some vids of the new truck that u have being building its beautiful your a great crafts men

  • Thank you very much! The mitsubishi montero I'm building for charity wont be ready for a couple months but I will be doing a video of the test run...

  • hey where did you get the top

  • The back cap of the 4runner? that, along with the entire body, is hand made from scratch. Although the body started as an earlier model toyota pickup, but there is hardly anything left of the original body, most of what you see is hand fabricated out of styrene plastic.

  • its a nice truck i though it was a 1:1 scale

  • its an exact replica of his 1:1 4runner actually. Its very nice bodywork. The person who made it is a true craftsman. I didnt make it.

  • wow :D 2:16 - 2:25, looks like a 1:1. ohh, and nice vid as everytime.

  • he drives it very well, very scale, too. Thanks.

  • Man that some bad skills!!Great build and video! The driving was done in a very scale manner too!!

  • thanks. I noticed that too-nice and slow like 1:1 driving. Maybe because he was afraid to scratch it, lol..

  • that is one sweet build. great work! (tell him for me)lol

  • I will, both the builder and the owner, lol. Very lucky guy. I can't imagine that anything that was paid for it was enough given the exceptional craftsmanship.

  • sikk, 4runn1 is a luck man! nice vid brotha

  • he sure is!

  • that truck is fanominal!!!! awsome detail!

  • Wish I could take the credit. I didnt make it though. It IS fantastic and the video quality doesnt do it justice. I mean, you can read the "Sylvania" on the etched headlight!

  • this looks so scale.... great job
