DSM for life!!! I've had my 1990 TSi AWD for about 6 years now and love it. I just picked up a 1990 GSX and I'm putting a new head on it this weekend. This video inspired me to get out into the garage and get it finished. Hopefully it starts up (everyone pray to the DSM gods for me)! I bought it with a ton of bent valves, so it will be its virgin voyage while under my ownership.

DSM still FTL? Yeah, the turbo ones for one reason. Boost... it's like crack and just as expensive. So yeah, you do lose a lot of money. Selling my Tsi AWD was hard, but I would rather spend $5k on a 1990 Talon before buying a newer car. I've owned minis, imports, domestics, 4x4's, etc... I miss my Talon the most. Since you've never had a fast car, here's my advice. Own one or get owned by one ;)
srt4? That's some funny shit. An srt4 may take a stock DSM but lets not forget the EVOs. Any EVO from VI-IX (which has a 4g63) will smoke an srt4 right off the assembly line. As old as the 4g63 is it still has way more potential than the a853.

The evo I-VI also used the 4g63, the older ones using almost the exact engine from the DSM's just obviously with better options, being the 16G turbo and such. what people do not realize is that the 4g63 was pushing out good power back in the early 90's and guess what? a stock civic still does not have the same power from the factory even these days. the 4g63 was one of the best engines ever made.

But beyond that, in the school of DSM, the 7-bolt motor will hold it's own unless you try to go crazy on it like people do with the 6-bolt. Hate to correct you, but i'm going to. In the 2G's the RS and GS came with the 420A, and the GS-T and GS-X came with the 4G63T, he said that he has a GS-T, it's even in his screen name. So i'm gonna say that he has a 4G63T in his Eclipse. Definitely NOT a chick car.

what i meant was a "true" 4g63 and 93.5-99 were NOT.. 90-93.5 were the only eclipses with balls.. after that they made "your" 4g63 which is a 7 bolt which = trash...... love the body style of second gens tho :)
Actually the 7 bolt has just as much potential as the 6 bolt. Also the 2g head flows bettter than the 1g for street applications. Unless you're trying to make 800+ hp the 2g head is the way to go. And if you're reffering to crankwalk, the actual percentage of crankwalk afflicted cars is very low. It's not as bad of a problem as everyone makes it out to be. Granted, I'd choose a 6 bolt over a 7 bolt but saying the 7 bolts have no balls is just dumb.
WRONG....They started making the 7 bolt in the later 92 models. And the 2g cars had more horse power from the factory than the 1G's did. They had 210 where the 1Gs had 195. The 95 was the worst model as far as crankwalk possibility went but overall crankwalk is nowhere near as common as its made out to be.

Dude it will cause HUGE problems, dont do it. The engine will start shaking, fucking up the motor mounts and possibly doing a lot more damage to other engine components as well.
I've fixed the problem several times, it does cause problems. Even if you don't believe me, look it up, hell, ask on DSMtuners and tell me that ALL those DSM owners are wrong. It causes major problems dude.
Seriously? Do they only do this when left in but belts removed, or with the plug kit and all? I can see it maybe taking the life of the mounts down due to vibration.. but they do not physically run any other part of the engine.... and should not cause "serious" problems.. but I'll take your word, and research some more.
With the kit sometimes it runs great, but sometimes it doesn't, its like playing russian roulette with 5 loaded chambers. But just cutting off the belt isn't good, its known to fuck up motor mounts and also it moves around the crank shaft which will easily make you fuck up a rod bearing. A lot of people say it did nothing to their car to just cut off the belt and that it runs great, but there's no proof and they're mostly lurkers.
What does that have to do with the belts? Lol. Yeah, you can do that, a lot of my friends removed power steering from their DSMs to save them some pounds, power steering just makes your life easier, the car is still drivable without it.
Removing power steering is a ricer move...The power steering is worth more than the small ass gains you get for deleting it. It makes sense to remove the AC if its a track only car but other than that its retarded to remove either of them. Power steering improves handling by reducing the amount of force needed to turn the wheel. Removing the PS dont give you a big enough gain to even notice and you can make plenty of power with it in the car.
I still have mine, I've never removed it from any of my cars. It makes no difference to me if they remove it or not lol, it doesn't affect me what so ever.
@Master7770 removing power steering has nothing to do with handling. Power steering is belt driven, hence "power", you lose the belt driven hp loss associated with belt drive accessories. This is also why real drag cars don't run AC or alternators, less parasitic loss off the crank belt
@wuta45 You obviously missed the point of what we were talking about. First off hardly anyone removes the power steering from their car unless they are all out drag cars. AC maybe but PS no. And yes power steering has alot to do with handling because it reduces the force required to turn the steering which helps reaction time. Of course on an all out drag car the PS dont matter but then again nore does street legal parts in general. Removing the PS pump on a daily is not worth it.
@wuta45 Removing the AC on a street/strip car is understandable because the AC compressor weighs a ton and can use up about 10-15 hp. But there is no need what so ever to remove the power steering on any street/strip car unless you are building 100% dedicated race car and plan on going as fast as you can possibly get the car to go.
@Master7770 Must have missed what yall were talkin about. But you may look into rack and pinion, or custom rack& pinion setups for better handling without the loss of a power steering pump. You can have your cake and eat it to, but it costs $

Ive never been in more love then with my 96 talon tsi !!! There amazing cars once yo put some big injectors in them and a front mount.. However I did the 6 bolt swap and it cranked walked twice on me with in 5,000 miles, So I elmi. both balance shafts !!! HOLLY SHIT! if you can do it get rid if them.. Huge oil pressure gain and HP!! :-)

Rau, Shepherd, Buschur (even though he's a douche), Davidson...guys just in the drag scene...and the limit of the Sirius motors STILL hasn't been found. DSM still FTL? Yeah, the turbo ones for one reason. Boost... it's like crack and just as expensive. So yeah, you do lose a lot of money. Selling my Tsi AWD was hard, but I would rather spend $5k on a 1990 Talon before buying a newer car. I've owned minis, imports, domestics, 4x4's, etc... I miss my Talon the most. Since you've never had a fast car, here's my advice. Own one or get owned by one ;)

srt4? That's some funny shit. An srt4 may take a stock DSM but lets not forget the EVOs. Any EVO from VI-IX (which has a 4g63) will smoke an srt4 right off the assembly line. As old as the 4g63 is it still has way more potential than the a853.

The evo I-VI also used the 4g63, the older ones using almost the exact engine from the DSM's just obviously with better options, being the 16G turbo and such. what people do not realize is that the 4g63 was pushing out good power back in the early 90's and guess what? a stock civic still does not have the same power from the factory even these days. the 4g63 was one of the best engines ever made.

Right before i bought my 97 gst I almost bought my buddys 93 honda prelude I am so glad i didnt now im going with a 20g turbo balance shaft elemination oem pistons 3 inch exhaust turbo back and i dont think i can be any happier with my choice of car i always thought a eclipse was a chick car but a turbo eclipse runnin 310hp isnt really a chick car at all id like to see you honda fucks run 450hp for under $5000 if i dumped $5000 into my 4g63 HOLY SHIT that car would be fucking beast

You just proved yourself that you need to go back to school. Look at your grammar. But beyond that, in the school of DSM, the 7-bolt motor will hold it's own unless you try to go crazy on it like people do with the 6-bolt. Hate to correct you, but i'm going to. In the 2G's the RS and GS came with the 420A, and the GS-T and GS-X came with the 4G63T, he said that he has a GS-T, it's even in his screen name. So i'm gonna say that he has a 4G63T in his Eclipse. Definitely NOT a chick car.

Actually the 7 bolt has just as much potential as the 6 bolt. Also the 2g head flows bettter than the 1g for street applications. Unless you're trying to make 800+ hp the 2g head is the way to go. And if you're reffering to crankwalk, the actual percentage of crankwalk afflicted cars is very low. It's not as bad of a problem as everyone makes it out to be. Granted, I'd choose a 6 bolt over a 7 bolt but saying the 7 bolts have no balls is just dumb.

WRONG....They started making the 7 bolt in the later 92 models. And the 2g cars had more horse power from the factory than the 1G's did. They had 210 where the 1Gs had 195. The 95 was the worst model as far as crankwalk possibility went but overall crankwalk is nowhere near as common as its made out to be.

Dude it will cause HUGE problems, dont do it. The engine will start shaking, fucking up the motor mounts and possibly doing a lot more damage to other engine components as well.

I've fixed the problem several times, it does cause problems. Even if you don't believe me, look it up, hell, ask on DSMtuners and tell me that ALL those DSM owners are wrong. It causes major problems dude.

Seriously? Do they only do this when left in but belts removed, or with the plug kit and all? I can see it maybe taking the life of the mounts down due to vibration.. but they do not physically run any other part of the engine.... and should not cause "serious" problems.. but I'll take your word, and research some more.

With the kit sometimes it runs great, but sometimes it doesn't, its like playing russian roulette with 5 loaded chambers. But just cutting off the belt isn't good, its known to fuck up motor mounts and also it moves around the crank shaft which will easily make you fuck up a rod bearing. A lot of people say it did nothing to their car to just cut off the belt and that it runs great, but there's no proof and they're mostly lurkers.

What does that have to do with the belts? Lol. Yeah, you can do that, a lot of my friends removed power steering from their DSMs to save them some pounds, power steering just makes your life easier, the car is still drivable without it.

Removing power steering is a ricer move...The power steering is worth more than the small ass gains you get for deleting it. It makes sense to remove the AC if its a track only car but other than that its retarded to remove either of them. Power steering improves handling by reducing the amount of force needed to turn the wheel. Removing the PS dont give you a big enough gain to even notice and you can make plenty of power with it in the car.

@Master7770 removing power steering has nothing to do with handling. Power steering is belt driven, hence "power", you lose the belt driven hp loss associated with belt drive accessories. This is also why real drag cars don't run AC or alternators, less parasitic loss off the crank belt

@wuta45 You obviously missed the point of what we were talking about. First off hardly anyone removes the power steering from their car unless they are all out drag cars. AC maybe but PS no. And yes power steering has alot to do with handling because it reduces the force required to turn the steering which helps reaction time. Of course on an all out drag car the PS dont matter but then again nore does street legal parts in general. Removing the PS pump on a daily is not worth it.

@wuta45 Removing the AC on a street/strip car is understandable because the AC compressor weighs a ton and can use up about 10-15 hp. But there is no need what so ever to remove the power steering on any street/strip car unless you are building 100% dedicated race car and plan on going as fast as you can possibly get the car to go.

Ive never been in more love then with my 96 talon tsi !!! There amazing cars once yo put some big injectors in them and a front mount.. However I did the 6 bolt swap and it cranked walked twice on me with in 5,000 miles, So I elmi. both balance shafts !!! HOLLY SHIT! if you can do it get rid if them.. Huge oil pressure gain and HP!! :-)

Rau, Shepherd, Buschur (even though he's a douche), Davidson...guys just in the drag scene...and the limit of the Sirius motors STILL hasn't been found.
