I will be setting up a BT homehub from scratch in a weeks time. Its one of the new ones. Do you have any advice for a novice with this poor device. I also have a Netgear wireless router that I could use.

I like the idea of having one device that will do phone, wireless and data storage. However making my way through 3rd party forums to get the access codes sounds crap.

Hey tom just to let you know if the home hub is dumb then goto its I.P if u cant find it then goto the back off it and then your find and back to the signal try changing the channel i use channel 11 its the best of of all 11

We had the same problem Tom, no signal or a very limited one, you need to phone BT's broadband help line and get them to retune the hub to a diffrent broadcast channel, that sorted it for us. the call center is in India so you need to be patient with their accent as im sure they do with ours. peace

I found that the installation disk served me well when I set mine up, I use the iMac and connect via wireless with the router key.

I asume that you now have it up and running ok.

The home hub works fine for me. I agree, the wireless reception is pretty poor though. I've used other N wireless equipment and it is MUCH faster, I used my own netgear router for a while but when I got IP fragmentaion errors I went back to the hub because I didn't want to touch the MTU settings. It works fine. It's certainly a style over substance thing though :/

There you will see a load of things, copy the standard gateway, paste it into your browser, then there you are. :)
