  • This Question is: "On a scale of one to five, how brilliant was Douglas Adams?"

  • You know you've got an epic video when it's been up for 3 years and it has no dislikes at all.

  • The old Series is way better than the movie

  • 42

  • The philosophers always remind me of a Monty Python sketch.

  • The hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings (mice) could have saved themselves a lot of time and trouble by just looking up the meaning of life in a dictionary.

Life - The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism.

  • I knew it would be that from the second they mentioned they wanted to know

  • "Seven and a half..."

    "What, not 'til next week?"

    "Million Years!"

"SEVEN AND A HALF MILLION YEARS?!"

  • FORTY-TOOEH?

  • is there any other 11 year olds watching this and thinking "wow, this is absoloutley amazing?" 'cos I am

  • @kas28999 yup. i'm 11

  • 42

  • 'magicthighs' and 'broomfondle' lol.

  • @JovianSatelite ok, then. only two of the characters lipsynced. What I meant was they all lip-synced, but a usage of "all lipsynced" with which you were previously unfamiliar.

The point is it wasn't very well-made, and it's still basically a radio show. If you turn off the tv picture it makes complete sense just from hearing it.

The doc on the dvd release is where I heard about the lipsyncing. But I can't be wrong, at worst they used the form of "lip-syncing" that means "not lip-syncing."

  • 7 and a half million years? It would definitely crash at some point, if a computer gets stuck with a program and hasn't sorted itself out after a couple of minutes, it's never going to, so it's time to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

  • @graemeoliver84 yeah true..... clearly deep thought was not running a microsoft ooperating system though :)

  • Although these scene are a bit long-winded, I prefer this imperious overlord type of computer than the one voiced by a bored-sounding Helen Mirren in the film.

  • Everyone who "likes the tv show best": it's not really the tv show, it's the radio show. It's lip-synced. And the acting was done on a low budget and short deadline.

So of course they would make a real movie if they got the chance.

  • @kozmon0t Well, for one thing Ford Prefect was played by a different actor in the radio series.

  • @kozmon0t It's a different performance. It's not lip-synched.

  • @flaggerify Like I already explained, in cases where the facts turned out contrary, I was using the form of "lip-syncing" that means "not lip-syncing." I may or may not have actually meant "lip-syncing," depending on whether your facts may or may not be correct.

  • .....So much better than that sacrilegious pile of shite of a 'Movie'

  • nobody who watches this stuff would change it

  • Was going to like this, then noticed the like count is currently at 42. :P of course once that changes i'm going to look a bit silly but oh well.

  • Vroomfondle and Magikthise!

  • @AlchemicGnosis According to Mr. Adams (before he died), 42 is just a random number he thought of. Sorry.

  • shades of monty python in this episode. And deep thought reminds me of tom baker lol

  • way better then the remake.

  • @PhsykoOmen What was so bad about the remake?

  • @NintendoSaturday well,In my opinion, Marvin the depressed robot was way more depressing and funny in the original, and the big computer in this clip was alot better aswell, the remake made it look cartoony and some girl voice that didnt carry any weight to the answer. thats me anyway, everything else was ok i suppose.

  • This may be the most tedious 7 minutes and 56 seconds of television ever produced.

  • 42!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wouldn't the obvious question to have asked in the first place be, "what is the meaning of life?"

  • We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!

    Absolute brilliance!

  • @clemzzz the movie was from a screenplay by the original creator, ergo, do not say "Douglas Addams would not like the movie." a lot of it was in there by him before he died, including the point of view gun (pwned)

  • I think I will start talking like Deep Thought. The ladies will love it.

  • @QuantumStates the virtual ones in battle raper u refer to?

  • @thetrolone Yes those ones, and some at my work. I think I saw them watering my plants the other day.

  • "You keep out of it metal nose" lol nice parody of the Monty Python Life of Brian.

  • 42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Majickthise and Vroomfondel...their brains are too highly developed!

  • Correction... their minds are too highly trained!

  • the answer is 42

  • Spoiler!

  • @pancurdle

The question is "What do you get if you multiply six by nine"

"I always thought something was fundamentally wrong with the universe"

  • @gilligen748 Actually, that's because the Golgafrinchans cocked up the calculations.

  • @pancurdle YOU FUCKING RUINED EVERYTHING EARTHMAN

  • I think one reason I like this movie is because its set up in chapters kinda like a tarrantino flick. you can switch them up and the story would still flow

  • this is the TV show , which is miles better than the stupid film !!

  • duh

  • Nice touch putting this at Episode 4 part 2

  • indeed.

  • lmao

  • Ha, thats prob just an accident
