ok, i'm trying to do the shabbymod .09 and it keeps failing. I've commented on the video for it but it seems to be a dead feed so i'm gonna try here simply because i've seen shabby himself reply. I downloaded the file, extracted with 3 different softwares, followed the prompts to the T.. and still it's failing to recognize the "killing me softly" file. I don't have any idea whats going on. The shabby root was success.. Any idea's??? my brain burns

Getting temp root. It freezes I guess after saying getting temp root. I let it run last night so it could take as long as it wanted and got up earlier and it still said the same thing. I followed all the steps. Windows wants to get the updates, but I installed the Samsung ones. Please help! Thanks!
@MrGBGraphics Yes. It ran through and installed drivers for 4 different things. Had check marks by each of them. I plugged in my phone via usb. Ran the program and it stalled out. Not sure what else I can try.
@MrGBGraphics No. My phone came with gingerbread 2.3.5. If this software won't root that version, is there another way you know of that I can try to root? Thanks.
@TheLatino2000 can you please provide the link were you downloaded cyanogenmod 7.1 for the prevail. I can't seem to find it for this specific phone, but I believe the prevail has the same basic features as any other galaxy s.. just not positive. thanks.
@MrGBGraphics... I actually was able to figure out why. I was running the legacy drivers that come with pdanet to connect to my computer. I uninstalled the whole app from the computer and phone- Reinstalled samsung drivers (your link did not work for me. I had to hunt for them. not a biggy ;) and did the root from there. worked great. Thanks for the help and @Shabbypenguin.... Thanks for finally breaking the prevail. you did a great job man. I know this is your work. ;)
I rooted my phone and it worked fine and then I downloaded a rom and it turned my phone off and it wont power back up is there any thing I can do to fix it. PLEASE HELP.
@richardboyd24 Hmmm... I don't really know what to say about that, that's real weird that the screens not lighting up at all, its like your phones not getting any power.. I was thinking that it might not be booting right, but I don't even think you can flash on the prevail, but google "android forums" and see if you can find an answer..

I thought when I installed the app one of the presets put it to the max automatically, but then I googled what the phone runs at stock then realized it didn't do shit lol, but do you have a website bro I can direct people to in the description so that you can get the credit and shit?.. Im pretty sure I got the root from android forums, but im not sure if yous own the site or not..

@supersaber101 Hmmm. . . That shouldn't have anything to do with this, all a root does is unlock your sims card and makes you admin of your phone basically.. Did you get it to turn back on?

What do you recommend I do to move the apps to my sd card and delete the ones I don't want after the root? This is my first time rooting so I'm a newb.
@itstheKT Lol nothing wrong with being a noob bro everybody starts somewhere, but to remove apps you have to download a free app off the android market called "titanium backup" just make sure you don't uninstall anything to do with you're operating systems

@Trigg562 it didnt work the first time i did it either so here is what i did different the 2nd time. (Im not sure what one if any made the difference, but hey its worth a shot and didnt mess up my cell) I took my SD card out the first time b4 I rooted it because I read somewhere else to do that, but I put it back in b4 the 2nd root attempt. (THIS WAS WHEN THE ROOT TOOK) also the 1st root I pulled the battery out 2mins after root was done not sure if it was maybe too soon, so the 2nd x I waited

My computer isn't detecting my Samsung when I connect it with the USB. I have the up-to-date drivers for 2.3.5 from your link. How long is the wait until my computer detects it? Or am I missing a step?
Step #2 Install your Samsung drivers to your computer so your computer will recognize your phone. {He has the link for that abouve in step one click on it download it then open it and follow the directions. Its super self explanitory and easy.
@KAMARO5883 I downloaded everything fine, i figured out the problem though, it was my USB cable, data wire inside is broken so it wouldnt transmit data to and from the computer, it used my pc as a charger basically, Tried my cousins cable and everything worked. thank you for the help though! i didnt think i was gonna get any responses!
@punkrawkemotweak Lol I haven't tested this theory out yet, but I think I know the source of the problem. The USB cord that I am currently using to charge my battery is from my old phone (Verison LG). So... I believe I need to get the cord that is made for the Samsung phone itself. If you're in the same situation, check that out for me! :P
@Prochopmeister I actually did figure it out, the Data part of my usb cable is Fd so i need a new cable. I used my cousins cable and the computer detected my phone. I downloaded everything alright and used like 2 diff computers so when nothing was working I used her cable and that seemed to be the problem.

@pwilliams82390 It will allow you to make more space space on ur phone by removing unwanted apps that were pre installed.. You rooted ur phone when you had 2.2?
@pwilliams82390 Sorry for the late reply I was out of town for a bit, but It wont create more room in your phone.. The only way to get more room on ur phone is to buy a new phone with more hard drive space thats the only thing that sucks about the privail theres not alot of room on it, but you can uninstall pre-installed apps that came with your phone that you don't need to make more room
Rooted my prevail a couple weeks ago and Just rooted my girls phone today. Again no issues just follow the directions. Now to clean all the crap off of her phone too.

@marcolandeos at first I only had PDANET [from Market] on my phone which I used to connect to my laptop or desktop to get internet (doesn't require root) but for wifi I looked around and I found this one called "Barnacle Wifi Tether" [also on Market] which was the reason why I had to 'root' my phone so that it could work "wirelessly" [= I now have 3 Laptops, 1 Desktop, and a XBOX 360 connected to it. It may not be the fastest but it gets 'the job' done! Hope that helped!!! ~Violet

@hectorrivera91 Theres no ROM in this packet just the root... If you do a system update on ur phone you should get the update for the 2.3.5 if not thats really weird but you can download a packet from shabby an them that will install 2.3.5 on ur phone

My computer isn't detecting my Samsung when I connect it with the USB. I have the up-to-date drivers for 2.3.5 from your link. How long is the wait until my computer detects it? Or am I missing a step?

@punkrawkemotweak did you download the drivers first? then extract the file and run it so your computer knows that its there?

Step #2 Install your Samsung drivers to your computer so your computer will recognize your phone. {He has the link for that abouve in step one click on it download it then open it and follow the directions. Its super self explanitory and easy.

@KAMARO5883 I downloaded everything fine, i figured out the problem though, it was my USB cable, data wire inside is broken so it wouldnt transmit data to and from the computer, it used my pc as a charger basically, Tried my cousins cable and everything worked. thank you for the help though! i didnt think i was gonna get any responses!

@punkrawkemotweak Lol I haven't tested this theory out yet, but I think I know the source of the problem. The USB cord that I am currently using to charge my battery is from my old phone (Verison LG). So... I believe I need to get the cord that is made for the Samsung phone itself. If you're in the same situation, check that out for me! :P

@Prochopmeister I actually did figure it out, the Data part of my usb cable is Fd so i need a new cable. I used my cousins cable and the computer detected my phone. I downloaded everything alright and used like 2 diff computers so when nothing was working I used her cable and that seemed to be the problem.

The only way to get more room on ur phone is to buy a new phone with more hard drive space thats the only thing that sucks about the privail theres not alot of room on it, but you can uninstall pre-installed apps that came with your phone that you don't need to make more room

@marcolandeos at first I only had PDANET [from Market] on my phone which I used to connect to my laptop or desktop to get internet (doesn't require root) but for wifi I looked around and I found this one called "Barnacle Wifi Tether" [also on Market] which was the reason why I had to 'root' my phone so that it could work "wirelessly" [= I now have 3 Laptops, 1 Desktop, and a XBOX 360 connected to it. It may not be the fastest but it gets 'the job' done! Hope that helped!!! ~Violet

@hectorrivera91 Theres no ROM in this packet just the root... If you do a system update on ur phone you should get the update for the 2.3.5 if not thats really weird but you can download a packet from shabby an them that will install 2.3.5 on ur phone
