The Character of young Anakin was awful and Episode One was awful but that is mostly because Lucas ruined EVERYTHING. It's not just Lloyd who suck, they ALL suck because no one can make those line sound good. No one can act this pile of dung anything but awful. However I will say that Hayden is NOT a bad actor, I don't think anyone could have done any better with the materials given to him, the problem was the way the character was written. I befriended a guy when I was in college (in 2004) who had went to High School with Jake Lloyd. He told me that Jake got beat up on a lot. Poor guy. People in High School are assholes. Anyways, I go against the grain because I loved "Menace" when I was younger and I still love it now. It's not a perfect film, but it's a lot of fun and retains some level of Star Wars magic. Lloyd was uneven as Anakin, but I still found him likable. He seems like a good guy in this video. Good luck to him in life!
