Words simply cannot express the pictures that music of this nature evoke in one's mind. I won't even try, but thank you so much for uploading this piece of music. Soooo wonderful!!!! :))
thank-you all for the lovely thoughts. I was married in October and hired a string quartet to perform. This was also the piece they played as we all paused for a moment of remembrance for my parents who are both deceased. If you are ever in the Shreveport area, Dolce Strings, did an awesome job. Thanks again
This was was being performed in Pistoia,Italy when my mother was born...My grandfather named his daughter......Thais.....so this piece holds a SPECIAL place in my heart.
This will be played at my "Confirmation of Life" - it is one of the loveliest pieces of music - such strong feelings of what it's all about, and gentleness for us to look forward to..... you're lucky to hear this....
im a huge hip hop fan have been most of my life but im am a bigger fan of sound music melody and passion i have to say this is beautiful and the essence is mezmorizing a sound elegant in every language
I love the Meditation. Mother and I saw Beverly Sills and Sherrill Milnes in this opera when the Met came to Atlanta. The opera as a whole is fabulous - the sets, costumes, the touching story, and of course the two great operatic stars. An experience of a lifetime.

@marrieter08 Well, actually, this is a late romantic era piece. The classical era was essentially anything that was written from 1750 - 1830. I'm quite the smart ass, aren't i?
@GagaMan214 The term classical music coincides not only on the time frame (but depends on how one has used and coined it on a particular musical piece) but pertains on the WESTERN GENRE of every singular pieces of musical oeuvre from the earliest up to the avant-garde musical representations.
@GagaMan214 Don't be so pedantic....if you love it, you love it, there is always someone to pick holes and ruin the experience instead of just enjoying it for what it is.. Smart as is not the term I'd use.. something far more simple....KILLJOY
¿Sabes?
Closing my eyes I travel back and back. Until I find her there, and bring her back to now. Mile by mile reduced to nothing. Open eyed, she's gone, and I step into the future remembering how I used to think of her when we were separated. Stream of time, where am I then or now o.
i played this piece (on the violin) and gave everything i had and when i opened my eyes (i play with my eyes closed) i saw that everyone in the room had tears streaming down there faces :') i cried of happiness seeing that and ... just felt like in a other world playing this piece and you can not play this piece beautifully if you do not give and open youself. It is all or nothing not half!! and RIP to your mother i played this for my grandma the last time i saw her alive i must be in haven
Anyone can learn to play this, and play this good, but a only a select few are capable of playing with such feeling and emotion. This is were 6 year old prodigies are lacking. This is enough to prove my point.
We all have to live and die, so the truth about life and death concerns and applies to us all. True or false? Search "TRUTH CONTEST" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the Truth. Let's get serious and honest about the truth of life.
Meditate on how sweet is life and so short, leaving those we most love behind but taking their memories with us...Leaving the rain behind and searching for the rainbow in life, with the pot of gold to receive us...Meditation, what a perfect name for such beautiful melody. And there are folks that say the heart is just a pump. I believe it thinks, desires and hopes, as well.
Anybody remember the episode of "Magnum, PI" with Patrick Macnee where he thinks he's Sherlock Holmes? This is the piece he plays on the violin. Anybody get here from Magnum Mania?

@rednlonglegged Awwww man. That was just to emotional for me to read & I'm not that sensitive of a guy, but you moved me with that. Cause I know exactly how you feel when you speak of your mom. Yhea it's really hard to keep'em back @ times. & I must say this is a beautiful piece of music you chose to play for the last time for your beautiful mother.
@rednlonglegged So touching - something which did not occur to me while my mother while she was here. So now, Dvorak, Debussy, Ct.-Saens help me hum my grandchildren to sleep. I am sure my mother is listening.

Tired of fake spiritual enlightenment information? Not getting any results from techniques that you have found?mind reading, astral projection, telekinesis, it is all real.THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM It is time to lift the veil.
It helps to keep the opera’s narrative in context during this musing interlude. Two ships are crossing each other in the night: one is a high class call girl on the verge of a spiritual epiphany. The other is the antagonistic monk on a freefall for her charms while wrestling with his faith. As to which one gains enlightenment is left up to your sensibilities. Vulgarity, however, seems so out of place in these discussions.
Close your eyes after reading this relax and imagine the following with music.
think of that ur old, as you see your partner laying down the hospital bed, with drops of tears, smiling at you, and tells you to stay strong.. don't give up.. i'm always right with you. in your heart, loving you day by day as you live on.
if you felt this message sad or u felt ur tears, pelase thumbs up. Thank you.
I played this for a competition called ISSMA...It is to this day one of my all-time favorite violin pieces...This version just has soooo much expression...Beautiful! :)
How is it possible that their are such ignorant arguments on such a beautiful, classical piece of work? This music is meant to serve as a relaxer, and as a mediator, yet the ignorance in some of you manages to shine through regardless. That's absolutely pathetic. Grow up a little. It wouldn't kill you, I promise.
If only i could make my guitar cry like a violin....can you imagine the emotions that the composer must have been feeling when he wrote this?? gee wiz
This is one of the very best versions of the Meditation from "Thais" that I've heard. Yo-Yo Ma brings new depth of feeling to this composition and I appreciate it.
If you are searching for real spiritual informationNot satisfied with what you have found?psychic awakening, precognition, mind powers, it all exists.THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM It is time to lift the veil.
I've played this song on my violin and piano, and it still send chills through me because it is sooooo beautiful! Definetly one of my favorite songs EVER. It's just peaceful, and like Melodylette17 said, no judgment, just peace and acceptance.
you need someone as humble as yo-yo ma to play so well. a true musician is a servant to music - which resides high above the falsehoods of our petty power struggles.
@Melodylette17 honestly i have to differ for what this song means to me. i believe it means more like, in such a hopeless world, there is beautiful music.
who could possibly NOT like this, its pure elegance and the deepest beauty. There is indeed a God and He occasionally gives us humans little treats like this :) I searched hi and low to find this, i was at the mercy of classic FM waiting to hear them play it again and to get the name of the piece, finally happened last night night thank God.
Thank you for your comments, and in response to them I was listening to this and it took me from a state of being overwhelmed to being at peace with myself. Thank you for coming into my life!!!! God certainly has a strange of way to push people together. I am very glad to have met you & your song. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me THINK today!!!! You will never know what you have done to me. I hope you have the most Perfect Day today & All the Tomorrows!!!!!
This song is so beautiful. My sister used to play this all the time, it brings back so many memories. The little run from 0:20 to 0:27 makes me feel like there is so much more to our existence..and its just untangable, even to imagine. Thank you for posting.
@juanpa19 hey I'm christian and trust me there is a God,you cant see him and you cant feel him but some how you know he's there. You don't have to believe me but everything I'm telling you is true trust me. look up the "Lords Prayer" and if you want to invite God into your heart say the lords prayer and God will protect you from all harm. say the lords prayer before its too late because when God comes whoever doesn't have God in there heart will be left behind and not go to heaven
@nerd10634 I trust you. How could I be so wrong. But now that you assure me that there is a God I totally see how wrong I was. NOT. I guess I will miss heaven.
@juanpa19 There is...how else could this come to be? Of course He is transcendent from His creation but this is a picture of that in that this music transcends this world and seems to transport us into another dimension. :)
@parakeethands huh ? Believe in Trees. They provide out air, they provide shelter, they provide warmth and they provide the material to make theat cello...all there for us to actually see and feel. Praise be the ulmighty Tree. Giver of life,
@parakeethands Actually, this music comes from this world, and, I am certain of this, the guy ho composed it was from this world. Music doesnt transports us into another dimension, but into another state of mind. Its all up there, in your head. Of course, that doesnt mean it is not fascinating.

you need someone as humble as yo-yo ma to play so well. a true musician is a servant to music - which resides high above the falsehoods of our petty power struggles.

Music does not jude, it loves and gives a sence of joy a sence of beloning in this world reminding us that there is still good in this world.

The interpretations are all beautiful and sublime. The genius is in the piece and heavenly thoughts that encouraged it.

This song is so beautiful. My sister used to play this all the time, it brings back so many memories. The little run from 0:20 to 0:27 makes me feel like there is so much more to our existence..and its just untangable, even to imagine. Thank you for posting.

If there is a God, I imagine he must be something like this.

@juanpa19 There is...how else could this come to be? Of course He is transcendent from His creation but this is a picture of that in that this music transcends this world and seems to transport us into another dimension. :)
parakeethands 1 year ago
@parakeethands huh ? Believe in Trees. They provide out air, they provide shelter, they provide warmth and they provide the material to make theat cello...all there for us to actually see and feel. Praise be the ulmighty Tree. Giver of life,
jrazjraz 1 year ago
@parakeethands Actually, this music comes from this world, and, I am certain of this, the guy ho composed it was from this world. Music doesnt transports us into another dimension, but into another state of mind. Its all up there, in your head. Of course, that doesnt mean it is not fascinating.
