Anyone who says The Electric Mayhem isn't up there with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and U2 needs to check their pulse. . . . because I'll kill ya.
Without reservation, every single thing that Gonzo does makes me indescribably happy. Can you understand that? I mean, my heart feels like it might burst.
Thank you so much for posting this. This has been my ultimate favorite Christmas movie to watch during the holidays. Unfortunately the copy I did have was VHS and no longer plays. :( I have tried searching hours on end to find a DVD...sadly I will have to fork out over $50.00!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this! I would buy it but I can't seem to find a copy for under $50 :'( So much love for you and the Muppets and dear Jim, may he rest in peace.
I think it's the people that never experienced the beauty of the muppets. Hopefully, the new muppet movie will change people's tunes and bring the new generation of kids some enlightenment in experiencing the muppets which made my childhood special.
How did I FORGET this?! WOW. I remember having this taped on a VHS and watching it when it was first aired. I had this memory of seeing all of the Muppets together singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and I could never remember what it was from. Thank you for this!!
This is one of the most coveted movies from when I was a kid. We once had a VHS recorded from T.V. but lost that copy years ago. I've wanted to see this again so bad for years. Thank you so much for uploading it.
Rowlf usaly drove back then but for Idk what reason he wasn't with whole rest of group execpt piggy when rowlf isn't with whole group fozzy drives the car or van
I remember every Christmas I used to watch this on the Disney channel, but now they don't show it because there too busy showing marketing products like Hannah montannah and the Jonas brothers. What has the world come too
THANK YOU! I used to have this on VHS (taped it off TV) but that tape got lost or thrown away. Loved the Muppets, especially before the loss of Mr, Henson.
@jonmurr1@majormana1 i think it has to do with fozzie and rowlf having articulate hands that can hold on to things. the swedish chef could drive too, but that would draw attention to his freaky gloveless human hands.
Thanks so much for uploading! One of my favourite Christmas specials. I've been looking for this in the store and couldn't find it! Finding this made my day!
Thanks so much for posting this!!! They don't show this on TV anymore and I really wanted my little girl to see one of my favourite Christmas shows. She greatly enjoyed it of course :)

i probably wrote this last year but thank you so much for posting this. i was brought up on this and it was always one of my favourite xmas shows to watch.
For those of you who don't know, the man that had made reservations at Fozzie's Mom's house is none other than Doc Sprocket- the main (and only) human character from Fraggle Rock, another one of Jim Henson's creations. Also, the Fraggles themselves make an appearance in this special later on. This christmas special has got ALL the muppets!
My fav Christmas film! :D I only have it on VHS. Can't find it on DVD in the UK, and from reading the comments it seems even if we had it, it was edited so not as cool :(
I've only seen the first 10 minutes and I can already tell that this is going to be the best Christmas special ever. I was actually trying to avoid anything X-mas until it got a bit closer to the 24th, but for the Muppets I can make a special exception. :3
@NCfanboy1 Do you understand what Gonzo says to him on the porch? "If you're not _____(?) you'll be in the oven". I've watched this hundreds of times and could never yet understand what Gonzo says to him.
@jfpinell That's not the focus of the joke! It was because he was a Turkey invited by the Swetish Chef at a Christmas Get-together! THINK MORON THINK!!!!!!
@NCfanboy1 This is why I hardly ever go on chat rooms or anything like this....why do people on-line so often get offended or take everything negatively right away? I was only asking if you can understand what he's saying to Gonzo because I can't.
As for the name-calling....if that be the case, if we were both on the same cliff ledge, you'd fall off and I wouldn't 'cause I'd be more on! (Wocka! Wocka!)
But seriously...why is so much taken negatively out here? I'm just asking.
@jfpinell That Turkey spoke in pure english! Why else does he say "Hi There." and "Of Course." and "Don't Worry, I'm a Survivor." and "If you think I'm a nice fat Bird LOOK AT THIS!!!", how can you not understand what the turkey says!?
@NCfanboy1 As I said above it's part of what he says I'm trying to figure out on the porch with Gonzo: "...don't you realize it could be very dangerous for turkeys around here?" "Not to worry, I'm a survivor. Now where's my room?" And then Gonzo goes: "If you're not (something I can't understand) you'll be in the oven". If you don't know what he says, just say so, huh? Maybe someone else does.
By the way...didn't you like my joke? ("more-on") -Wocka! Wocka!
@NCfanboy1 PLEASE! Never call my jokes good....you'll ruin my reputation! :)
*Shakes head in confusion*....all this work just to get that answer. :) It's not you personally, it's just that so many people on-line seem to take immediate offense to things. Granted I'm not one who goes in a hundred rooms a day so maybe it's lack of experience. It just always sounded on tv like "if you're not tough" or something. But that never made sense. The tone with him there is just muffled.
@draefae11 They didn't lose the rights...clearing those songs for home video releases costs extra, and they chose to edit those segments out instead of paying the royalties.
@DTVzone Really? I heard they didn't have the rights to the Sesame Street characters because they are owned by Children's Television Workshop. Thanks for clearing that up.
I can't believe I found this on YouTube! I thought I would never see it again. Such great memories from my childhood. Thanks so much for uploading it! The only bad part is the 4 that disliked it...how is that possible?
@130443Thunder really? when in 1987 did they shoot it? during the summer? and how did they do the moving trees at the beginning as Fozzie drives the truck?
Love, love, love it! I bought the VHS back in the 90's but they had cut out so much of it! My sister and I used to watch this daily during the holiday season!
@hippiechick7897 My sister and I watched this thing daily. We eventually wore out the damned tape. My grandmother babysat us and got sooooo sick of this movie. Poor woman.
I think part of the reason that this special isn't shown is because Disney is just difficult like that. Another part of the reason is Political correctness I mean Henson dared to use eclesiastical christmas songs and God forbid anyone do that anymore.
I also used to have this recorded on vhs-have no clue what happened-but why can't the networks show this one? It ranks up there with Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town..also, remember Emmitt Otter's JugBand Christmas? Also a Muppet special--c'mon Fox and ABC Family-Pick up these classics and cut out some of those cheezy Christmas "movies"!!!
I remembered this movie from my childhood last year and tried to find it for purchase. I found one copy on DVD at amazon. It was 128 bucks. Wtf? So thanks for uploading this.
OMFG!!! Im so damn happy i found this..i was 4 when this came out, and my older sister and i would watch it over and over *just like we did with Totally Minnie, and Unico*..DONT SLIP ON THE ICEY PATCH!
haha I loved watching this movie, still have the video tape with the Muppet Christmas Carol too and my family and I would always watch it every Christmas:P
Last year's "Simpsons" Christmas episode had a segment loosely based on this special...where Maggie wanted to watch "A Puppet Family Christmas" and dreams she and her family are like the Muppets, about to go to Hawaii for Christmas when the boss comes...
I screamed in glee when I saw this. Literally. I scared both my cat and my mother in doing so. Oh, I haven't seen this since I was a tot. Thank you so much!
DTVzone if you hear anything about getting a copy of this please let me know as I would also be very interested. I have been looking for this for year. Thank you so much for this. This is one of my absolute favorite Muppet movies.
You've saved christmas forever. Please, however you got up an unedited version of this..put it on a lossless format...seal it in a vacuum, never left it come to harm...re-upload it if 'the man' tries to take it off. Thank you.

There's an interesting if not sad irony here in that so soon before the creative genius Mr. Henson died (all too early) is that they had this wonderful Christmas show where the characters from, "Sesamee Street," "The Muppets," and "Fraggle Rock" all came together.
(And to top it off, Mr. Henson made a brief appearance.)
Personally, I feel out of decency to Mr. Henson, they should release a PROPER DVD of this.

Last year's "Simpsons" Christmas episode had a segment loosely based on this special...where Maggie wanted to watch "A Puppet Family Christmas" and dreams she and her family are like the Muppets, about to go to Hawaii for Christmas when the boss comes...

You've saved christmas forever. Please, however you got up an unedited version of this..put it on a lossless format...seal it in a vacuum, never left it come to harm...re-upload it if 'the man' tries to take it off. Thank you.
