@Im4allguns Christianity teaches "Convert or Die" as well. As a matter of fact, Deuteronomy 13:6-10 tells people to kill all non-believers, even if they are family. A few verses later, 12-16, they are instucted to slaughter entire towns if, within those towns, lives even one non-believer.

1. Freedom of speech - violated by the silencing critics of Islam on our soils through illegal fatwas from clerics - numerous have been killed for blasphemies when they don't even share your religious views.
2. Freedom of religion - violated by death sentence in sh'aria for apostasy.
3. Death sentence in Sh'aria for gays, adulterers etc.
And please spare me the moralization. I am reading more and more about Islam all the time. We look at the fascistic regimes of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan, and formerly Iraq and one has to ask why a steady stream of gross violations of human rights flow out of these countries. e.g. last year a Saudi Court refused to annul marriage of an 8 year old girl to a 58 year old man.
I have no embarrassment in criticizing Islam ITSELF, because the example is mandated in Hadiths.
Now, i am well aware of four interesting facts about the West:
1. There is enormous guilt about imperial past, which we sought to reverse through utopian secular dream of freedoms for all. This is an excellent and noble aspiration (if a completely unIslamic one, given Hindus & Atheists may not exist in Dar Al-Islam, and Jews/Chrsitians may do but are persecuted & pay taxes & have no public worship spots). You notice the double-standard therefore in whinging about criticism?
2. There is a relentless theme in the Qu'ran of duality between believers and disbelievers. The brotherhood (ummah) is the fundamental loyalty, national laws are secondary, and places of settlement prior to creation of muslim states are formally at war (Dar al-Harb) or under "invitation". Principle of Taqiyya permits muslims to deceive disbelievers in order to survive in hostile environments or further interests of Islam, thus "invitation" is but a prelude to Dar al-Islam...
2...ok, back to Taqiyya. Despite the complete unacceptability of sh'aria, muslims are encouraged to move into non-sh'aria areas as termporary measure, and to do so the message "islam is religion of peace" has become commonplace. However, there are 6 uses of "salam" in qu'ran, none expressing "love they neighbour". And despite assurances jihad is an inner struggle, the outer striving to spread islam is mandated in many forms, INCLUDING martyrdom, the one sure way to avoid doom.
2...In modern times islamists (so-called radicalised, but i wonder whether they are simply reading qu'ran and hadiths more literally than most) are engaged in jihads on all continents bar Antarctica, and against all world religions INCLUDING moderate islamic scholars that dare to speak out against the fascist clans in middle east. So i regard "religion of peace" as a sincere phrase by ordinary "patriotic" muslims, but by Islamic politicos with long term goals, part of a strategy.
3. Liberals and clever Islamic strategists are using words (e.g. "racism", "bigot", "hate crime") to discourage DISCOURSE about political Islam, to make it somehow shameful to be against death sentences, intimidation, amputations & misogyny. Islam is disguised as a "faith" with no political compulsion of any kind behind it. However, this is patently untrue from qu'ran & hadiths. The perfect eventual realization of Islam would strip society of nearly ALL religious freedoms.

Hard as it is for many of you to believe, I was raised to judge somebody based on the content of their character; not by their skin colour, or their religious views. I was born and raised as a Muslim. My parents (and my wife) came from Muslim countries. Myself & my boys are born in Canada. I'm an apostate of Islam. The koran even says that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life. However the koran says that he faked his death (lie & deception). Jesus Christ also said that He WAS the Son of God (so that too would have to be a lie according to the koran). Oil imports for the US come from mostly everywhere else except the Middle East. Only 3 of the top 15 countries that we import crude oil from are Middle Eastern countries and they are in the top 3 either. Our 4th greatest crude oil import source is Saudi Arabia(a so-called ally), then Iraq at # 6, and finally Kuwait at # 13. The top 3 are Canada, Nigeria, and Mexico. (go to: eia.doe.gov and look at their publications for petroleum imports.) We need oil but drilled from home.

It is not a few extremists, it is the mainstream. @lucashoal I never said the Bible has no violent imagery, but the violence contained therein is directed towards Christians. It does not teach it's followers to murder & torture those who don't subscribe to their philosophy as does the Koran. Nor does it teach pedophilia or beating & stoning of women. I stand by my word, if one who truly follows & obeys the Koran would fit the definition of not only a "terrorist", but also a murderer, rapist, sexist, bigot & so on. I don't see anything positive.

Like Christianity, there are plenty who claim to be followers of their faith, but don't practice what is taught. @Im4allguns Christianity teaches "Convert or Die" as well. As a matter of fact, Deuteronomy 13:6-10 tells people to kill all non-believers, even if they are family. A few verses later, 12-16, they are instucted to slaughter entire towns if, within those towns, lives even one non-believer.

@bigrobdeezey Please reread Deut. 13:6-10, It mentions one who "leads you astray & attempts rebellion towards God by worshiping foriegn gods". 12-16 also mentions those "leading others astray". I don't see how that can possibly be misinterpreted to "kill all non-believers". This is more of a "live & let live" mentality, "You do your thing (just don't force it on me or there will be consequences to pay) & I'll do mine (but it certainly doesn't say pay the consequences for not agreeing with me)."

You assused someone critical of Islam of being racist only a few posts previous. But i'll go further. Criticizing Islam is not bigoted EITHER. Criticizing each and every individual muslim would be - but the political & religious framework of Islam goes well beyond mere religious faith.
Some of my values
Freedom of speech - Illegal death sentences from religious clerics on foreign nationals violate that.
Freedom of religion: apostasy death sentence under sh'aria violates that.

It's not bigoted to criticize the political ideology of Islam, since it is opposed to fundamental principles of Western civilization, including:
1. Freedom of speech - violated by the silencing critics of Islam on our soils through illegal fatwas from clerics - numerous have been killed for blasphemies when they don't even share your religious views.
2. Freedom of religion - violated by death sentence in sh'aria for apostasy.
3. Death sentence in Sh'aria for gays, adulterers etc.

And please spare me the moralization. I am reading more and more about Islam all the time. We look at the fascistic regimes of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan, and formerly Iraq and one has to ask why a steady stream of gross violations of human rights flow out of these countries. e.g. last year a Saudi Court refused to annul marriage of an 8 year old girl to a 58 year old man.
I have no embarrassment in criticizing Islam ITSELF, because the example is mandated in Hadiths.

Now, i am well aware of four interesting facts about the West:
1. There is enormous guilt about imperial past, which we sought to reverse through utopian secular dream of freedoms for all. This is an excellent and noble aspiration (if a completely unIslamic one, given Hindus & Atheists may not exist in Dar Al-Islam, and Jews/Chrsitians may do but are persecuted & pay taxes & have no public worship spots). You notice the double-standard therefore in whinging about criticism?

2. There is a relentless theme in the Qu'ran of duality between believers and disbelievers. The brotherhood (ummah) is the fundamental loyalty, national laws are secondary, and places of settlement prior to creation of muslim states are formally at war (Dar al-Harb) or under "invitation". Principle of Taqiyya permits muslims to deceive disbelievers in order to survive in hostile environments or further interests of Islam, thus "invitation" is but a prelude to Dar al-Islam...

Despite the complete unacceptability of sh'aria, muslims are encouraged to move into non-sh'aria areas as termporary measure, and to do so the message "islam is religion of peace" has become commonplace. However, there are 6 uses of "salam" in qu'ran, none expressing "love they neighbour". And despite assurances jihad is an inner struggle, the outer striving to spread islam is mandated in many forms, INCLUDING martyrdom, the one sure way to avoid doom.

2...In modern times islamists (so-called radicalised, but i wonder whether they are simply reading qu'ran and hadiths more literally than most) are engaged in jihads on all continents bar Antarctica, and against all world religions INCLUDING moderate islamic scholars that dare to speak out against the fascist clans in middle east. Liberals and clever Islamic strategists are using words (e.g. "racism", "bigot", "hate crime") to discourage DISCOURSE about political Islam, to make it somehow shameful to be against death sentences, intimidation, amputations & misogyny. Islam is disguised as a "faith" with no political compulsion of any kind behind it. However, this is patently untrue from qu'ran & hadiths. The perfect eventual realization of Islam would strip society of nearly ALL religious freedoms.

It's nothing personal. Here is a maxim i adhere to:
"Do not judge muslims you know by political Islam, and do not judge political Islam by the muslims you know."
I stick to that. Most muslims work hard, get along with life, family, friends, have hopes and joys, just like anyone else. I am definitely no bigot.
However, no other religion has a mandatory legal system attached - sh'aria.
I watched a stoning video & i felt profoundly ill. I don't want more people to suffer this.

Christianity has a fucked up past, but today it is pretty moderate. It harmonizes with individual rights, equality and freedom of speech. I cannot think of assassinations of intellectuals by Christians that felt threatened.

Why do you think i have no desire to change anything? I've been emailing a document called "islam's age of reason" to people i know in Pakistan and Egypt - they incidentally are muslims who largely agree with me about
(a) Islamic expansion - they have lived in west and don't want the politics that never ends
(b) sh'aria being blatantly misogynistic as well as barbaric.
They want secular constitutions that respect human rights i.e. Islam that is consistent with world at large.

There are presently a greater number of homosexuals than muslims in Britain, who i think would be quite entitled to resent being "hung" should sh'aria law ever prevail. @thisismymoniker You're absolutely correct,as a matter of fact,I was just doing some research on that & just saw that Islam is the 2nd largest religion in the UK with some estimates suggesting a total Muslim population of 2.4 Million.They now control alot of their own media outlets,magazines,publishing houses,muslim TV & radio stations.They also have alot of national orgs.(one of which is called FAIR for Forum Against Islamophobia & racism-HOW IRONIC) & even have their own damn POLITICAL PARTY!

We have no other choice because while i don't doubt you personally are a good person, encroachment of sh'aria laws, murders of critics & so forth, is unacceptable.
