@kingmomo224 Changing your theme to Vista Basic or Classic wont stop the DWM service from running. If you use Classic you can disable the Themes and Desktop Window Manager services in the Services area of your Control Panel. If you use Vista Basic you can still disable the Desktop Window Manager service but need to keep the Themes service enabled.
Depends on the computer hardware quite much, example: DWM Composition Glass enabled with blurry backgrounds for windows on my laptop, only lets dwm.exe use 2% max. and 30MB RAM, not bad eh.
The only thing slowing down your computer is Windows Vista. It sucks ass. Upgrade to Windows 7.
