Thanks for the comment - just wanna point out we were not instructed by an aerobics instructor. The competition mainly delt with aerobic dancers and then the hip-hop/funk section was held at the end for groups like us.

to be honest..

im not sure if the dancing matched the music. the choreography was mediocre, but the performance could have been stronger. the dance was a little too "1 and 2 and 3 and 4" - it just didnt have enough flow, enough heart. it was too cheerleader. and i just feel that the music outdanced you guys..

Thanks for the comments! There are very few African styles in this routine though, so don't take it as being the real thing. Try searching for 'kwaito' (African version of Hip-Hop) and 'afro fusion' on youtube; there might be some results.

Actually, they did applaud at the beginning and the end. The music is dubbed, but the original doesn't contain any cheering either. The microphone was in the hands of one of the judges and it only picks up what he says.

Thanks! Believe it or not, the regional championship version was even slower! I made the mix faster for the national championships, but I know it was still too slow. Couldn't make it much faster though, as it would have decreased the quality of the audio track.

This year there were still groups sent in. The best group from the company was Rudi's group. He is only 14 and he is the best choreographer I've seen in a LONG time. His group's routine from the 2007 Champs will be added to YouTube soon, but in the meantime, check his solo performances:

'CULTURE SHOW' is his best one to date, but he has many more coming. I recommend you subscribe to him. He's winning every competition and he's gonna go far!

After the 2006 competition, I moved to the UK; some members finished High School & some just went their separate ways. It was never our intention to STAY in this group. Plus, the age difference became more strict this year, so the younger guys (like Rudi, who's also in THIS group) couldn't be in our age category & neither could the older ones.

Thanks! We loved those uniforms, but it was so difficult to move in them. It was particularly IMPOSSIBLE to move our arms in it, but we pulled it off. Had lots of practice, so we learned how to deal with it. Kinda like a model that has to be able to do a catwalk being trapped in a tight dress :P Hehe
