wubi, on ubuntu, you can dual boot without messing up your pc, what it dose is somthing among the lines of using the windows file system, no partitoning requiered. when you start up your computer it will ask if you want to boot ubunto or windows. if you hate it just go into windows and run the uninstaller.

ok, im 16 and i know alot about computers but i need help with this one. i have a dc7100 3.0ghz moatherboard and processor in a coustom case. i have installed multiple os's over and over but i cant install linux 9.10. i've tried cd, dvd, usb and even putting the unix file on a blank hardrive and started the cpu, and i've done that with the iso file extracted and unextracted. still no go. i started up my computer for the 87th time and i noticed in the bottom corner saying that if im running-----

thanks for all your help, i was apperently just doing something wrong in the cd burning process because my frend gave me a copy and it worked. my windows 7 beta expires in 3 days so ill try to run ubuntu and xp, one for looks and one for gaming. do you have any advice on how to get games and apps on ubuntu? because when i tried... well there different os's, so of coarse it diddnt work, but i have seen other people do it.

hey i was just wondering that once u have made the partiton in your RAM using virtual machine.. if u do not wish 2 use the ubuntu no more and want 2 get rid of virtual box, are u able to just delete it and get that part of your RAM back? because i want to try this but i dont feel like permanently losing part of my RAM.. please reply

I just recently installed ubuntu with something called Wubi(an installer that works from windows). I've since uninstalled that and did the dual boot thing on my laptop. it was much easier than i had thought it would be, just follow the instructions and it will have a tool on there to resize your hard drive (this was the first time i did that) and then it will pretty much do the rest for you. Or you can use the Wubi thing to try it out. Wubi is much easier than this video I think.

Yeah it only uses the RAM when you are actually using the virtual machine. I had that question too.

No, its still there because those files are needed to run vbox and ubunto, but if you uninstall the os and virtualbox the memory will go away

Don't use a download manager. I too use Vista 32-bit. Download managers aren't that helpful with some files.

for some reason when i use virtual box to install Linux, my resolution is too low and I am unable to see the "Forward" button shown in the install portion. I have tried resizing it, but the maximum res allowed is 800x600. I have also tried allocating much more video memory to it with no change. If you have any ideas i would appreciate your help.
