Wow! Where should I start. First, I don't think Kirk has bad intentions. He is trying to speak to young people on their level. But many forget, young people need the same Jesus and the same Holy Spirit, you don't have to try to talk hip or talk street to reach them. I believe Kirk has a good heart but it clear that he was speaking of himself. Not being led by the Holy Spirit. Some of his words and references were uncalled for. Its one thing if your having a youth meeting to discuss .......
What I am concerned about is that the kids are more attracted to Kirk Franklin than to the cross. In trying to emphasize the Lord's humanity, Franklin downplays His DIVINITY! I am also concerned that Franklin is teaching a works doctrine of salvation thar causes the young people to operate in their flesh to "give up" sin--- not because they are REALLY "born again." That is my issue. We are not saved by singing.
No one knows if Kirk Franklin will make it to heaven, except God. It is evident that this sermon is not lead by God. Kirk Franklin has a gift that is all. But the bible explains that gifts comes without repentance. Which means that you do not have to be saved to be the best preacher in the world or gospel music producer. He needs to put Jesus first. But, others (including the maker of this video) should encourage him to find Jesus instead of creating a mockery of him.
@JabbarisJusDansis - We understand what you are saying...but where in The Word of God does it tell us that reproof or rebuke is evil? If all we are supposed to do is encourage people then explain these verses 1 corinthians 5:5, 1Timothy 1:20 jude 1:21-23....we have to have a BALANCED Faith, meaning that everything isnt just roses & utopia, there is need for reproof/rebuke/judgment/imprecatory prayer/real prophecy, these things are not popular but they are Biblical, he mocked himself....

Read Matthew 7:1-5, James 4:11-12, John 7:24. What I see is a man trying to spread the word of God without going through the process of SANTIFICATION (which is impossible). I think some times we are more in favor of the messenger than we are the message. I feel that the majority of people who have risen to Kirk's defense are only doing so because they like him and couldn't ever imagine him to be wrong. The bible says if they speak not according to the Word their is no light in them. I'm not saying Kirk is wrong or right. I will again defend Kirk by saying this: What he is speaking of IS truth, it just may not be APPROPRIATE! But all in all, there are two, even three ways to be sure of the ministry of Kirk Franklin:
As far as the passing notes and talking and joking.........kids do that!!! I know from doing it myself when I was little. I used to make fun of the preacher when he whooping and hollering and carrying on. Don't let the preacher mispronounce a word... I had to hold back my laugh so I didn't interrupt the service.
I can speak the same sermon in 5 different places the exact same way, and only 2 of those 5 times were effective in that ONE way I delivered it. So, maybe this is how God allowed Kirk to operate in this particular venue...
I DO commend you for seeming to be able to discern, because we all have to be careful not to be deceived. God has warned us that even the very elect will get tripped up.
But I will say this to Kirk's defense, depending on your audience, being a minister of the gospel, you HAVE to ask God to give you wisdom, knowledge, and tact to be able to deliver an effective sermon.
The second thing I want to iterate is how open Kirk has been about his past: he wrote a book on it, and he CONSTANTLY speaks of it in his music. That being said, I would get the impression that he has been anointed to help deliver people from that kind of life that he was subjected to which is, from the parts you've posted, EXACTLY where he's operating.
This is not to say that he is or is not working under the anointing.

If YOU serve God and Jesus Christ is your Lord, how can you spend so much time criticizing people? I don't care if it's Kirk Franklin or Marilyn Manson. Jesus COMMANDED us to love one another! The video is out of context, but even if Kirk was really wrong, you should extend your love and reach out to him rather than CONDEMNING or ACCUSING him. Satan is the accuser, to condemn and accuse is the devil's work. How can you love a God you haven't seen if you can't even love the people you can see?

@209IAm - John the 14th chapter begins with The LORD saying "Let not your heart be troubled". Jesus was NOT being arrogant or prideful he was comforting His people. Verse 6 is actually a response to Thomas's question "Lord, we know not whither thou goest ; and how can we know the way?". So Kirk is in total error because the context of John 14:6 is comfort & assurance, do you think that its ok to take the Word of God OUT OF CONTEXT? read John 14th chapter PLEASE listen to The LORD not man....
He did not give this message well at all. The way he delivers his message would make some people actually go out and commit the very sins that he is talking about!
I do not see him as being phony. Kirk is making really good points to where these kids can understand. This is how i would talk to my own kids and explain the"WORLD" to them. I can agree with what you were saying about how Kirk sorta got people thinking about Jesus carnally and some of the words he used, but there were many strong points to his message. Young people today are SO jaded about the very idea of church/Jesus in general that they have to hear real talk like this to wake them up (Kirk was on-point when he said that when girls are promiscuous really don't know themselves).
Overall, I see him as a Work In Progress, not really a phony.

He's an entertainer whose been promoted by carnal preachers and made to feel he's big enough to say these unsound and ungodly things because of his ego and his musical success. Wow! Where should I start. First, I don't think Kirk has bad intentions. He is trying to speak to young people on their level. But many forget, young people need the same Jesus and the same Holy Spirit, you don't have to try to talk hip or talk street to reach them. What I am concerned about is that the kids are more attracted to Kirk Franklin than to the cross. In trying to emphasize the Lord's humanity, Franklin downplays His DIVINITY! I am also concerned that Franklin is teaching a works doctrine of salvation thar causes the young people to operate in their flesh to "give up" sin--- not because they are REALLY "born again." That is my issue. We are not saved by singing.

No one knows if Kirk Franklin will make it to heaven, except God. It is evident that this sermon is not lead by God. Kirk Franklin has a gift that is all. But the bible explains that gifts comes without repentance. Which means that you do not have to be saved to be the best preacher in the world or gospel music producer. He needs to put Jesus first. But, others (including the maker of this video) should encourage him to find Jesus instead of creating a mockery of him.

I think some times we are more in favor of the messenger than we are the message. I feel that the majority of people who have risen to Kirk's defense are only doing so because they like him and couldn't ever imagine him to be wrong. I can speak the same sermon in 5 different places the exact same way, and only 2 of those 5 times were effective in that ONE way I delivered it. So, maybe this is how God allowed Kirk to operate in this particular venue...

I DO commend you for seeming to be able to discern, because we all have to be careful not to be deceived. God has warned us that even the very elect will get tripped up.
But I will say this to Kirk's defense, depending on your audience, being a minister of the gospel, you HAVE to ask God to give you wisdom, knowledge, and tact to be able to deliver an effective sermon.

The second thing I want to iterate is how open Kirk has been about his past: he wrote a book on it, and he CONSTANTLY speaks of it in his music. That being said, I would get the impression that he has been anointed to help deliver people from that kind of life that he was subjected to which is, from the parts you've posted, EXACTLY where he's operating.
This is not to say that he is or is not working under the anointing.

Without that information, I will proceed to say that sometimes when we receive a revelation, it is not for us to share, but for us to keep to ourselves and learn from it. Because if we speak it we may destroy something or someone we had no intention of destroying. Not everything is meant to be spoken or revealed. I'm pretty sure you know that (and the scripture I'm coming from, so I won't list it).

@209IAm - John the 14th chapter begins with The LORD saying "Let not your heart be troubled". Jesus was NOT being arrogant or prideful he was comforting His people. Verse 6 is actually a response to Thomas's question "Lord, we know not whither thou goest ; and how can we know the way?". So Kirk is in total error because the context of John 14:6 is comfort & assurance, do you think that its ok to take the Word of God OUT OF CONTEXT? read John 14th chapter PLEASE listen to The LORD not man....

I do not see him as being phony. Kirk is making really good points to where these kids can understand. This is how i would talk to my own kids and explain the"WORLD" to them. Stop finding something wrong with everything and everyone. We all still walk in the flesh everyday but know what we have to do to kill it. He is teaching them to be saved in a flesh based world.

I am flabbergasted! He was totally out of line & as you said in your video he was definitely in the flesh. Apparently, he does not know what "come out from among them and be ye separated" mean.
A know someone who has a brother that was backstage with Kirk after his performance & heard Kirk cussing up a storm in front of people. Her brother rebuked Kirk for that. That was from the late 90's. From watching this video I don't know what it's going to take for Kirk to learn. He just don't get it.

I can agree with what you were saying about how Kirk sorta got people thinking about Jesus carnally and some of the words he used, but there were many strong points to his message. Young people today are SO jaded about the very idea of church/Jesus in general that they have to hear real talk like this to wake them up (Kirk was on-point when he said that when girls are promiscuous really don't know themselves).
Overall, I see him as a Work In Progress, not really a phony.

Christ is the only way but not as we see it. You don't have to be Christian to accept Christ. Our minds are locked into religious thought that we don't even know what God wants and does get. Kirk behaved in a similar way when he appeared on BET's 106 & Park. He watered down the gospel so well for the hip hop audience that show hosts terrence and rocsi wanted to have him on more often. Kirk Franklin isn't a preacher. He's an entertainer whose been promoted by carnal preachers and made to feel he's big enough to say these unsound and ungodly things because of his ego and his musical success. This is an utter shame and many will go along with this because of the name recognition of Kirk Franklin. His fame doesn't legitimize his ministry.
