It is a brilliant ride - totally counter intuitive - looks heavy and slow and like mit won;t handle. all wrong. It handles like a bike half its weight. New one looks good, but for the money they should be giving something new..... WHEN are we going to get a 2 litre engine with 160bhp (AND PLUS 45MPG) ? The frame could easily handle it. Likewise ESA and electric screen should be standard.
Still, if you have distance to cover, nothing does it like a wing..

@MrStonewallj I don't understand this big cry about the Wing not having a Electric Windshield. I bought my '08 Wing new in 09. I had the windshield heght set for my comfort zone prior to taking delivery. I've not changed it since. Granted I'm the only rider of my bike.

I've always liked the Goldwing, but could never afford one... it's now time...I'm reading bad reviews from Previous Goldwing owners and somewhat agree about the 6th gear... that would be nice, but everything else has got me thinking Goldwing as my next bike.... :-)
What happened to the Goldwing getting a sixth gear? Ask any Goldwing owner, at normal highway speeds, the engine is revving very high. Which causes unnecessary horrible 34 mpg, well it's a shame to say my wife's car gets that. I am very disappointed in the 2012 Goldwing. I own one and I do like it but Honda talked REDESIGN and IMPROVEMENT on the 10 year old model and did absolutely very little. I was holding out for the 2012 model but I will be looking at the new Bmw instead. It is disappoint

I put off buying a goldwing to wait on the the new 12 models. Looks like they just stole ideas from BMW (paint) and the ugly back end of a victory. New innovations? I can buy a garmin or tom tom for way less than the 1500 they want. Pay for XM radio? It's the reason people buy MP3 players for less than 100 bucks. I think Japan missed this one by a mile!! No 6 speed tranny? No engine mods? Just ugly plastic stuck on a 2010. I will now go get a 08-10 model for WAY less.............
HONDA what were you thinking of?. Not me or other devoted Goldwing owners who patiently waited for a new design. Looking at the new Wing from the side, if I wanted a BMW I'd shop for one. Looking at the new Wing from the rear if I wanted a Victory Vision I would shop for one. Either I'll keep my 2004 Titanium Wing or maybe I'll trade it for a Harley. I don't care what new features the Wing has it's just too UGLY for me.
I like the new look! Reduction of all the gawdy chrome pointlessness is a big plus for me. I am the resident Goldwing specialist at the dealer I work for. I can not wait to get my hand on one of these!
Wing fanatics wil dislike me but I wish these bikes came with a detachable topbox. The imposing looks of that motor sitting so low in the frame with a low cut finish at the back would do it for me. After all not every ride is a tour! And u d still have the saddlebags plus the flexibility to carry irregular shaped luggage. What do u reckon Honda?
It's ugly. I was going to buy 12 but not now. The team at Honda really dropped the ball here. They went with a BMW design that I don't like at all. Perhaps they don't care about the U.S. market anymore. Honda has now opened the market for another company to step up and steal their customers. Funny if BMW came to market with 1800cc monster and kick-butt American Design. Or HD get away from Spaceship design and get back to American Classic design with advanced technology?

Front end is sealed up too much. Will cause you to break off the tabs from having to pull all that off repeatedly just to check fluids. Back end looks as ugly as the Victory. Did they fix the SUSPENSION ISSUES, or do we have to dump another $3500 to have it NOT cup the tires early?
I think for the same amount of money you can get a comparably equipped Can-Am Spyder R/T Now thats something different on the road. 3 wheels means its not going to fall over on ya while your off having your picnic ;o)plus more storage space for the pic a nic basket eh Boo-Boo ?
Not enough re design to make me switch from my '04. After years of aftermarket additions for function and comfort, Honda hasn't come out with anything in the '12 that is better than what I have. My Zumo 550 GPS does evrything the (finally) upgraded on board GPS does. I have added elect. seat, grips and a Bushtec trailer along with some aerodynamic fixes.160,000 km and 0 issues. Man, if it ain't broke.......I'll just keep what I have till they redesign from the ground up.
I must say I am also very disappointed. I was expecting another step towards something unique, sporty, exclusive - top of the noch. Instead they have put emphasis on a tourer, which also reminded me of a BMW. I love my 2006 Goldwing, the engineering is fantastic. I really hope the guys at Honda get their act together with some inovative thinking and design for the next models to come. I dont want a BMW !!!

I'm glad they stayed with the 5 speed, it's much better on twisty mountain roads.
This bike is awesome, anybody that chose a street glide over a gold wing should have their heads examined
