Ben Stein needs to do some research about HSUS rather than just parrot what he's been told. Dr. Phil bought his cute little dog from a shelter and look what it's become.
Ben, tell more people to buy from shelters and rescues. Then check the assests of the shelters and resuces and report back to us about who is making all the money and at what cost to people.
Tell us where the dogs in shelter's and recuses come from after you've done your research.

I work at a humane society. So many horrible cases come in. Your heart gets hard. I own a former puppy mill dog, I've felt the heart stop on a dog that was drug from his owners truck because he lost in a dog fight. We've had dogs come in starved, beaten, with collars embedded inches into their necks...you really want this job?
now, i'm just going to put in my 2 worthless cents, but while jsmith5549 may be somewhat wrong, i do belive not all millers are cruel. when we bought our dog, we went to a breeder who did raise all different types of dogs for a living. the good thing that we did though, was to look at her operations. while yes, she was making a profit, she still took heavy care of all the dogs and made sure they had medical care, food, water, and playtime. i will say that all millers should be watched closely.

I support the HSUS, but if you do buy a dog choose a breeder who keeps the parents of the puppy as loved pets & :
See the dog before buying, where it lives & the condition of the parents. Insist current shots & get the name of the vet that has seen the dog. Ask about the mother, how many in the litter & if any of the dogs have had problems. Insist on a contract, mine guaranteed the dog for 1 yr, so I knew she was healthy or at least make the sale subject to a vets ok.
Although there is no single action greater than going vegan to help animals, this video was great, and it spoke for the wonderful character in Ben Stein.
Animal prevention is the most compassionate way to help animals. Going vegan is simply an extention to a much bigger problem as we also have pig mills, chicken mills, and cow mills.
I am someone that believes that both animals and people are equally important. I hope you are too.
We once got a puppy from a pet store. I was just about to get this rottweiler pup when she was carried in and we got her for $50. It turned out she'd never had her shots, and when we got them, she had an allergic reaction. She ended up costing us thousands of dollars and eventually someone offered to take her and get her fixed up, which would cost another chunk of money. This was a loving family, and we gave her to them. Don't buy from puppy mills.

I'm embarrassed to live here when I see this....Please help the group trying there darndest to get our inspectors to do their job....we had one owner shoot all his dogs that the inspector told him to get vet care for, and he got away with it, because they were his property......how revolting...

I wish the Humane Society would be more effective in Wisconsin. A group (no more puppy mills) has been trying for 11 years to pass legislation, without success. Steve Kastell, a Plymouth resident (Sheboygan Co.) state representative has been the biggest opponent...saying how he keeps his own dogs in the barn all year. This backward state considers puppy mills agriculture, There are hundreds of puppy mills in Wisconsin run by scum bags , the Amish and Mennonites.
I do not like the suggestion that you shouldn't ever buy a dog from a respectable breeder. There is nothing wrong with breeding dogs for sale if they are treated well.
Petstores here in Canada sell rescued animals that were strays etc. I bought a kitten that was vet checked etc. 230 and had fleas which he gave to my old cat. Both nearly died from worms also. Luckily I had a credit card and a vet who gave me a deal. Max is now three years and old Gus is now thirteen. I would NEVER buy an animal from a petstore again! Rescues or not. Who knows what these rescues are really? Go to the shelter yourself MAKE SURE!
Heartbreaking. There is no other way to describe this. The one cage that had all those dogs crammed into it was a horrible sight. I've owned dogs all my life. I'm by no means the best dog owner. I don't walk them every day like I should other things like that. But they are in my house 24/7 except when they go out to the bathroom in our fenced in yard. The rest of the time they rule the house.
These puppy mills exist because people want a cute little puppy from a big box type mall. when they don't want the puppy anymore they just get rid of it. We took care of a purebred husky, the girl wanted it cause she saw it in a disney movie, a dog like this requires maintenence to do it right people live in disney fantasy land
I work at a Hotel/Daycare for dogs and cats and I think anyone that does this to any animal should be caught and abandon the same way that they abandon and treat these animal.

I support the HSUS, but if you do buy a dog choose a breeder who keeps the parents of the puppy as loved pets & :
See the dog before buying, where it lives & the condition of the parents. Insist current shots & get the name of the vet that has seen the dog. Ask about the mother, how many in the litter & if any of the dogs have had problems. Insist on a contract, mine guaranteed the dog for 1 yr, so I knew she was healthy or at least make the sale subject to a vets ok.

Although there is no single action greater than going vegan to help animals, this video was great, and it spoke for the wonderful character in Ben Stein.
Animal prevention is the most compassionate way to help animals. Going vegan is simply an extention to a much bigger problem as we also have pig mills, chicken mills, and cow mills.
I am someone that believes that both animals and people are equally important. I hope you are too.

We once got a puppy from a pet store. I was just about to get this rottweiler pup when she was carried in and we got her for $50. It turned out she'd never had her shots, and when we got them, she had an allergic reaction. She ended up costing us thousands of dollars and eventually someone offered to take her and get her fixed up, which would cost another chunk of money. This was a loving family, and we gave her to them. Don't buy from puppy mills.

somebody please help them stop the puppy mills here in PA. We have inspectors that are being paid off, and these animals suffer. PA is puppy mills are unacceptable. I'm embarrassed to live here when I see this....Please help the group trying there darndest to get our inspectors to do their job....we had one owner shoot all his dogs that the inspector told him to get vet care for, and he got away with it, because they were his property......how revolting...

Wow! That is a large # of puppies!!! People PLEASE! Help this innocent animals, if u thinking to buy a dog, go and check the animals they have 4 adoption, trust me there's soooo many, any shape,color, etc, etc.. If u adopt a pet, u will be saving not only money but a life 2!!

I wish the Humane Society would be more effective in Wisconsin. A group (no more puppy mills) has been trying for 11 years to pass legislation, without success. Steve Kastell, a Plymouth resident (Sheboygan Co.) state representative has been the biggest opponent...saying how he keeps his own dogs in the barn all year. This backward state considers puppy mills agriculture, There are hundreds of puppy mills in Wisconsin run by scum bags , the Amish and Mennonites.

I do not like the suggestion that you shouldn't ever buy a dog from a respectable breeder. There is nothing wrong with breeding dogs for sale if they are treated well.

Petstores here in Canada sell rescued animals that were strays etc. I bought a kitten that was vet checked etc. 230 and had fleas which he gave to my old cat. Both nearly died from worms also. Luckily I had a credit card and a vet who gave me a deal. Max is now three years and old Gus is now thirteen. I would NEVER buy an animal from a petstore again! Rescues or not. Who knows what these rescues are really? Go to the shelter yourself MAKE SURE!

Heartbreaking. There is no other way to describe this. The one cage that had all those dogs crammed into it was a horrible sight. I've owned dogs all my life. I'm by no means the best dog owner. I don't walk them every day like I should other things like that. But they are in my house 24/7 except when they go out to the bathroom in our fenced in yard. The rest of the time they rule the house.

These puppy mills exist because people want a cute little puppy from a big box type mall. when they don't want the puppy anymore they just get rid of it. It is the same with horses, everyone wants a horse or pony, right? ever have to take care of horses or feed them? Dogs are the same way, grooming, good feed, vet care. We took care of a purebred husky, the girl wanted it cause she saw it in a disney movie, a dog like this requires maintenence to do it right people live in disney fantasy land

I work at a Hotel/Daycare for dogs and cats and I think anyone that does this to any animal should be caught and abandon the same way that they abandon and treat these animal.
