@VaiTrooper: WHAT? First of all, it was THAT popular.. It beat Cosby for #1 its 2nd season, and was in the top 2 or 3 for the first 6 seasons. Even if it's not your cup of tea, how could you not at least recognize it's merits: Ground breaking realism, combined with outstanding writing and acting.

This season, by the way, won the prestigious Peabody award, 3 Golden Globes (including best comedy) and several Emmys. What sitcoms do you define as better??

Each season you can see this show slipping worse and worse. I guess every show is like that, though. When this show was at it's peak - it was one of the best sitcoms ever.

@tyboy0735: U make it sound like the "got rich" plot line was a huge part of the show... it was only the last out of NINE seasons. And even then, actually, it still did well in the rankings (based on the reputation of the show obviously). One season shouldn't tarnish a series this good.

The shows were on for nine seasons and ten seasons, respectively, way longer than most sitcoms, and "Roseanne" lost it a bit after season 6 also. Feel sorry for quality shows that only lasted a year or two such as: "Freaks and Geeks", "Twin Peaks", "My So-Called Life", and "Joan of Arcadia". MOST sitcoms that have quality last for a long time, dramas - not as much.

Roseanne season 5 ruled and this two-parter was classic...

This season (5) is def. one of the all time best, but there is a part of me that didnt like seeing Roseanne all tanned and with a clear face lift. It really went again the realism of being lower middle-class. In the first three seasons, she truly looked like a normal person. Here, I can't help but remember that she's Roseanne, the celebrity. However, her acting is obviously fantastic.
