  • Very interesting design;

    Does the scoop create high pressure inside the unit or just flow thru ?

    But I have to disagree with part of your statement .

    " Savonius type wind turbines is the fact that the blades are only driven by the wind for approximately 120 degrees of one rotation"

    From testing and building VAWT wind machines that the blades are driven by the wind in three sections of the radius during rotation for a total of 280 degrees for a 6 bladed unit and 300 degrees for a 5 bladed unit.

  • Great idea PESNetwork !! I thought of this idea because the area that is covered reduces the drag thus increases the efficiency. For example a water pump uses less power when the taps are closed . All the best !!! Would love to see some power figures vs wind speed.

  • I wonder if a big tower verical rotor would put out more power than the current propeller drive?

  • Poor efficiency of this ;o(

    i have a much better idea: my turbine efficiency 80% !!!!!iiii!!!! !

  • @felattila - What's really your much better idea? Another concept or form? - Thanks for responding.

  • very clever!!! a very cheap way to get more bang for your buck!!

  • Ok you beat me to it. Good job!

  • Ha ha, man I was just sketching here on the same design and then I found your video! They are very elegant. 5 stars, favorite - thanks for uploading.

  • great!!!

    one question: what type of bearing did you use for it?

  • Excellent idea. Have you measure the efficiency of the conventional versus your shrouded version?
