@diskatop "Wealthy" people buy more expensive items than the middle class. What makes you think that the FairTax would lower taxes on the wealthy?
People making 15K/year would not really pay any tax since the pre-bate would cover any taxes they would pay. Those making 150K/year pay about 30% ($45K) of their income in taxes now, would still get a pre-bate and don't think they would spend $45,000 in sales tax in one year.
Do we really want to raise taxes on the middle classes (those making from $15,000 to $150,000 a year) while lowering the taxes of the wealthy (those making more than $150,000 a year)?
Even the SUPPORTING org's data shows that this "Fair" Tax aka National Sales Tax-Inclusive aka NASTI would raise the taxes of the middle classes. See tinyurl 593htl, pages 30-on, particularly Table 13 years 7-8 and 15-16 to see one trick they try.
Once we get the FairTax, our taxes per person will go down, because the tax base will widen. Illegals and criminals will finally contribute to taxes. What's more, the compliance costs will be eliminated. All this, and the poverty level poor will be completely untaxed because of the prebate. See FairTax.org
God has given us a limited amount of time on this Earth and I don't believe we should be using it to fill out federal tax forms. Especially when there is a beautiful alternative called The FairTax.
Let's create a national discussion on True Fundamental Tax Reform and Tax Code Replacement and let's fix this man made problem called our federal income tax system.
@docyt Very nice to see a post like this. So many times people who lose an argument on an intellectual basis, use nothing but ad hominem attacks on the other person. Delete them sir, they are a waist of space.
The government collecting revenue from itself is nothing new. Every time Nasa purchases a satellite from a third party contractor or every time the Air Force purchases a plane from another third party contract, 22% of the price they pay is to pay for the taxes of the employees that manufacture those items or the company that pays income taxes... it's nothing new.
What do you propose as a tax reform BullshipDetector?
great idea, that way the government can't pick the winners and loosers of our society..Get rid of the lobbyst yea!

The FairTax only taxes those items bought new.

When the government taxes sales, we own it.
When the government taxes income, it owns us.
