  • well im planning on getting a .25/06 one just like yours except its stainless steel. This rifle will be my first high powered rifle, would you say this is a smart choice or should i go with a lower caliber?

  • nice but dude get a one piece 20moa rail.

  • My dream gun: Remington 700P with DM and the most effective Muzzle Brake to reduce the recoil of the powerfull .300 Remington Ultra Magnum.

With it's 26'' Barrel to make the bullet even faster to give it more Kinetic Energy (Ek= 1/2xMxV^2) and with a McMillan Stock due to it's tested accuracy improvement...

This thing would be a killing machine..

  • Clean your room.

  • good vid

  • i laughed when u said howevuh

  • Now guys this my seem stupid question but for my first rifle good question to ask.. My old man has a .270 mag.. That thing kicks my ass every time not a all day shooter gun but would a .308 have just as much kick or more??

  • @curtissurfer it would depend on the loads you are using, if you use heavy loads they could generate a lot of kick. if you just wanted a rifle to shoot all day and is usable for hunting deer and elk maybe consider a 243 winchester

  • @curtissurfer My opinion is that the old .270 win kicks harder than any caliber. I haven't fired the .270wsm but am told they have a lighter recoil. The .308 has a medium recoil, about like a .243, you can't go wrong with it.

  • Nice review

  • That would be a sun shade

  • i dont think your scope isnt big enough still. lol

  • thanks

  • zero you scope knob, and you can never stuff your zero up. just set it to 0 when you finished adjusting it... :)

  • does it kick more than a 12 gauge

  • @QnSxNaStyShot sometimes. its hard to compare the two. I wouldn't worry too much about the kick though. I just shot my Rem 700 bdl the other day. 7 shots and a small mark on my shoulder

  • @QnSxNaStyShot it can be compared to a 12 gauge with 1oz slugs

  • @QnSxNaStyShot a 7mm mag has a ft lb of recoil 19-25

12 gauge ft lb of recoil is 17-54

  • excellent scope, i have the exact same on my .308 savage. amazing brightness and quality.

  • i have the r700 7mm magnum. its got quite a bit more recoil than a 308. but not quite as much as a 300 win mag.

  • to hahaquote dont lie to everyone on here shooting a deer through its ears you are full of shit sir!! i have shot a white tail buck at 272 yards and broke his neck with a 243 it not the cal. as much as bullet placement !! from 223. cal on its more user error they all have the ability 223.call will go 1k 243 1k but most people dont have the ability to shoot that far !!if you can shoot 5 bullets in the x at 350 yards on que u sir are a hella shot !!

  • To the gober kid im 14 and the 7mm mag does not kid at all (in my opinion) i go hunting with it instead of my dad do not by a 243. It is crap thd only way to kill deer is trough the ears (i have done that) and it sucks get a 308. round much better :)

  • @HaHaHaquote

a .243 is actually a very good all around rifle. I killed my first 2 deer in michigan with one and its extremely accurate, low recoil, very easy to carry....neither deer went further than 20 yards or so (I dont aim to drop deer with rifles, i like to save the shoulder meat, so i just put it behind the shoulder instead of suckerpunching the deer.) shot placement is everything!

  • Hey, ive been attemptin to do a bit of research on the remington 700 and ive been wondering... Would it be a good deer rifle ?? Ive beeb shootin since i was 11 and my first rifle was a .243 and ive been lookin for an ugrade... Haha. Ive feel in love with this rifle but idk if i wanna spend a grand it the gun+scope if it wont be a good deer rifle.. I dont wanna waste $50 bucks on cartridges cuz of a walmart gun if ya know what i mean? Any info would be much appreciated

  • @USairsoft11 good for you buddy everyone is so impressed

  • howeva. hehehhehe

  • Holy shit! That scope cost more than the rifle? [whistles increduliously]

  • what a fag.... he says he wants to hold on to something bigger (his forestock)..... its his buddy's too... he loves the way he can handle the clip "in, out, in, out".... there it is again..... he is going to fuck his buddy

  • first big gun i bought was a 7mm rem mag its not that bad of a recoil but then i stepped up to a 300 win mag for all you idiots that think a 7mm rem mag and a 300 win mag is the same thing shoot the two and you can tell the difference

  • @theDefaulthuman

Buy it from a local gunshop, you should try guns before you buy them.

  • your scope mount to the rear of the firearm looks like it is not completly on the groove you might want to adjust that

  • 700 SPS 30 06 was my first rifle, put a similar scope on mine, great set up.

  • just ordered a .308 and all parts today! cant wait till i take it out to the range

  • god, i want one of these so bad.

  • the 700 cost 298 at wallmart in 30- 06 i bought mine 2 weeks ago the same as the one in the video the same one

  • Is the gun black or does it have a matte blue finish. It looked black in the vid but I was just wondering

  • @GscottS16 its pure black

  • @Iris421989 can I have a suppressor on the Remington 700 SPS Dm? and what caliber 7mm or 300 win mag?

  • @12RandomThing 7mm i would say

300 win mag is insanely large....unless youre hunting bear or moose you dont need. even for moose its not necessary

  • you shouldve got the jeweled bolt with it i just got mine and it has the best slide ive ever seen in my life. it makes tikka t3 look like shit

  • Ah i just bought this.. new one has adjustable trigger without dropping action, its a beautiful thing..

  • whats a bull barrel

  • @tennisdude28 very heavy and thick barrel

  • Comment removed

  • i live in IN and i have been shooting for a few about 8 years but we cant hunt with rifles here. well about 2 years ago my father got a oncore which he got the 223 barrel for and a 35 Remington, and i have shoot that a few times. im going to get into target shooting and i was wondering if this would be a good gun for me

  • @doc20yz a good gun yes, a very bad caliber for target shooting..

you want a .308 with a heavy barrel, or simply a .223 for targets.... 7mm is way too big for targets

  • @Iris421989 this isnt the ultra mag is it ? whats the difference between the two ? the RUM shoots three different size bullets or grains ?

  • @yabodmon I PM'd you

  • @Iris421989 Not to mention the cost of cartridges or reloads, I would say get a 223 for target shooting, half the price overall.

  • @1hotfred im 13 and ive been shooting since the age of 4. I have started to reload my bullets wittth my grandpa.. wayyy wayyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper

  • I dropped every deer I've shot rite on the spot and never missed but rite as I shoot a mossberg I miss or it runs awhile so in conclusion Remington all da way

  • I don't know if all bolt actions do this but I think they do, wen i'm hunting u relax the firing pin, u do it by holding the trigger wen u close the bolt it's better than the sagget cause they sagget could fail and me saftey cocks really loud so deer might hear it, then wen u wanna shoot u just pull the bolt up then put it down u don't have to open the chamber so u don't move alot

  • is this adl or bdl???

  • @jigglejack100 its in sps

  • @jigglejack100 Remington does not make the ADL anymore. The SPS is the new ADL.

  • @Vecte thanks so this is compatible to adl type stocks???

  • @jigglejack100 Actually, it is not, ironically. The SPS is only compatible with BDL stocks.

  • @jigglejack100 sps dm

  • @Iris421989 How many BBs does it hold

  • @MyAwsomesause :hahahahhaha. o wait r u serious? or is dat a joke ?

  • @airsoftown18 It waas a joke

  • will it come in a 338wm

  • @Reardon171 The SPS with the floor plate does come in 338wm. I'm not sure about the DM model.

  • @Vecte Thank you mate! 7mm rem mag i think is amayzing caliber how do you find it?

have a good new yrs mate!

  • @Reardon171 The 7mm Rem Mag is actually a very popular caliber. Every gun manufacturer has at least one rifle chambered in 7mm REM Mag. Browning, Sako, Remington, Ruger, Mossberg, etc, all have a 7mm REM Mag rifle. As for the cartridges themselves, you should be able to get them anywhere that sell ammo. 175-gr. is going to be about the biggest. Prices on average are $40+ for a box of 20, for just about any grain.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'll be on the stand this New Years!

  • Great now just upload some range shooting

  • umm isnt a 308 a lil bigger then a 7mm cause 7mm is same as 30-06

  • @camarololol no i believe a 30-06 is a bigger cartridge but the 308 shoots flater rather then a 30-06 will have an arc in the shot.

  • @yabodmon how does it shoot flatter?they both shoot the exact bullet diameter, but the 06 has more powder.like i said, the 308 gets more credit then it deserves.

  • @camarololol The .308 is a short action .30 cal cartridge. The 7mm REM Magnum is a long action, 7mm magnum cartridge. So yes, the actual bullet on the 7mm is smaller than the .30 cal on the .308. However, when you look at their cartridges as a whole, the 7mm REM Mag has better ballistics, and is a much more flatter shooting bullet.

  • @camarololol 7mm is the same as .284 however since it is a magnum there is about twice the powder behind the round.

trust me, i've fired the 7mm and the .308, they are not the same at all

  • @camarololol yes in diameter it is, but it does not mean that it has m,ore mass or weighs more.

  • @camarololol im srry but that is just stupid to assume . because .308 and 30-06 use the same bullet caliber

  • @camarololol the 7mm is not the same as a 30-06.

  • @camarololol Well the .308 bullet is bigger then the 7mm (308 being a .7.62mm) but the 308 has a less powder, which gives it less of a recoil

  • @camarololol .308 is not as poewrful as a 30 06

  • remmy 700 good stuff eh...

  • i just got the gun lastnight in happy with it the ammo cost alot but if you reload then yourself you save Alot of money in the long run and i have elite 4200 scope on my gun

  • i just got the gun lastnight in happy with it the ammo cost alot but if you reload then yourself you save Alot of money in the long run

  • nice scope

  • man you put a hell of a scope on that, how much did that run you?

  • @ShootingStuffCanada 680 read description

  • @ShootingStuffCanada 625 before tax.

figured if i was gonna get into shooting i could re mount it onto other guns i bought, saw it as an investment. (my way of rationalizing spending nearly a thousand bucks on it)

  • Got the same one and yeah solid recoil to say the least lol im good with the recoil cant say the same for my buddies. LOL. I wish i would have gotten the detachable mine is the floor plate. What did you pay for the trigger job? I did notice the long pull. But still love it.

  • @jsal25 The trigger job was 80 dollars in canada, and it really really helped. I would recommend it to anyone. As for the recoil, i've heard that going prone and using a bipod really helps with this.

The detachable is quite nice, it hurts the fingers sometimes to load through the breach on a cold day.

    congrats on the cool rifle

  • @WBGV304 .243 will meet your needs better than a .223

  • do u have a 7mm remington ultra mag or just 7mm rem mag

  • does this have a free floating barrel ???

  • would that gun will be good for long ranges and can kill a hog????

  • @beatlyhunter lol easy

  • i need a rifle relay bad

  • im gettin a rem 700 cdl soo exited

  • I cant decide if I should get this gun or this gun just with the camo stock. I cant decide.. What do you think? The camo is more money but I think it looks much nice

  • do they make the sps varmint with the detachable mag?

  • ever considered a brake/ compensator? I'm thinking about getting the remy 700 police LTR in .308 and putting a Primary Weapons compensator on it

type "PWS PRC on an FNAR .308" into youtube search

  • @WBGV304 totally agree with the the suggestion of a .223

It is a big boy's rifle with moderate recoil but at the same time it doesnt feel to dissimilar from a .22. great to start shooting with!

Making the jump from .223 to .300 may make you wanna turn the gun on yourself though :P .300 is a lumberjack caliber

  • I just picked up an SPS myself in .270 Win. I just bedded the action and am going to replace the trigger cause it sucks $hit. Probably a Timney. With my handloads she shoots sub-moa @100yds with 130gr bullets. The only other thing besides the trigger is the barrel heats up quick but thats what u get with a non-heavy barrel.

Other than that, I like the rifle. its my 1st Remington Thanks for your review Iris421989.

  • @JamieMG I fully support all the decisions you made on that gun.

The trigger needs work from the factory, the bolt isn't totally smooth and it doesnt seem to slide straight. As for the grain, i struggled finding the right grains for accuracy. 175's are normally the cheapest, but its total over kill for the range :(

As for the barrel heating fast, yea I can agree with that, but it gives me an excuse to give my shoulder a rest :P :P

  • i love mags

  • i shot my first m40 at 29palms with one of my Marine friends it was so bad ass i want to buy me a 700.but let me tell you dont buy a 223 or an 06 get 308 for a 308 is the best

  • @crazymarine1991 agreed. .308 is pretty much the best round

7mm is a little over kill and it often ruins your weld on the gun after each shot

  • @crazymarine1991 308 win is not the best.the 06 has 10% more power which allows it to shoot heavier bullets better then the 308.the 308 is given more credit then it deserves.iv owned all three, the 308 the 30-06 and the 7mm rem mag.the 308 is my least fav.my father that has shot a 308 almost since it was introduced says the same, the odd 6 is a beter all around round and the 7mm rem mag is even better.btw he just bought a 7mm mag, doesnt look like the 308 will be seeing much action any time soon.

  • thanks :)

  • how big of a caliber would u recommend to a beginning hunter?

  • @8908chopperjoe i would go for a .223 to start off with. It doesnt take down large game, but if you're just starting out you want to learn good technique off the bat.

and that means follow through with the shot. not just yanking the trigger when the crosshairs happen to land on the target and going for it.

perhaps a heavy barrel .308 although they're very heavy to carry.

  • @Iris421989 well im moving to arizaona soon and i want to goe deer hunting and the deer they have ar mule deer and those ar big game. and im kinda lost in what kind of caliber of gun

  • @chopperjoe8908 .308 takes down pretty much anything short of elephant and beer and stuff.

might wanna check that out. if its your first rifle you might wanna steer clear of the magnums for now

  • @Iris421989 well im moving to arizona and there deer is in the big game catigory so would that make a difference? by the way its mule deer they have over there.

  • @Iris421989 generally I agree (for what that's worth) however as you probably know, the .223 will take fairly big game. It's more a question whether it's ethical or even legal in your state. If you had to take slightly larger deer inside of... say 100 yards with it, you could, albeit with expert shot choice/placement. Thank you for sharing your review. I now have the 700VTR in my collection. The .223 is nowadays way underrated. It wasn't always like that though.

    -=TPR=-

  • @TheProRifle I agree with your point that a .223 is a good caliber, but I always thought it was more of a varmint caliber rather than actual deer size bullet.

  • @Iris421989 Thanks for your reply. Here's another perspective: There is no such thing as a "deer sized" bullet. A hole through the brain is a hole through the brain. This last weekend my friend and I had fun shooting .25 MOA groups with the VTR in .223 with 69g SMKs and Ramshot TAC. I could not do that with bigger calibers. I know some people can - or at least say they can.

    -=tpr=-

  • @8908chopperjoe What are you hunting? .243 or 7mm-08 would be a good start IMO.

  • @8908chopperjoe my first rifle was a savage .270win(cant remember what model) but i was like 14, and im not the biggest guy out there(closer to the smallest lol) but i was very happy with it, but i traded it for an atv......wish i could get the .270 back... i loved it i never really shot for groups, but i remember one day, i propped the gun up againt a tree while standing and made 3 90 yard shots , i was aiming for the O on a NO SMOKING sign the 0 was less than a inch, but all 3 went it in

  • how big of a caliber would u recomend to a beginning hunter for mule deer?

  • Damn 7mm mag turn tour shoulder to shit in like 10 shots

  • @Sporkinator3 truth

  • @Sporkinator3 im going to find out soon, my boss has a 700 in 7mm, that i want to try out....i was planning on shooting 20rds. but maybe not, im a little guy ; (

haha naw if i buy the ammo, im surely going to shoot it, i dont care how bad it recoils, maybe it will give me a reason to take a day off work... lmao

  • @akshooter762 after 20 rounds your shoulder will still be fine. just dont go rambo by shooting the clip, reloading, shooting another clip reloading...etc

pace yourself and youll be fine

  • anyone know what those sun shade things are called. They're threaded on one end and skrew into the objective lens end of the scope.

  • @junkerboy2251 pretty sure they're just called sun shades

  • im trying to get me NJROTC marksmanship team to get real rifles instead of air-rifles. why? because pellet guns are for pussies and if we want a future in marksmanship, realism is the way to go. how much are these? (at a gun show?)

  • @sk8rcamboy1 see description.

why are you talking about pellet guns?

  • were did u buy it?

  • @FuzorDragon480 canada

  • Remington 700 sucks. The tikka is 10 times better.

  • @napalm868 the tikka is beautiful, but i like the weight of the remington, as well as the magazine and the actual stock. its personal preference

  • @Iris421989 The 700 is a great gun but I just like the features of the t3. With the 700, only the specialised varmint ones are bedded and none (as far as I know) have free floating barrells. WHy should I have to do that when I can just get a tikka.

  • remington .700 sps has a bull barrel.......26 in

  • @kalob35 not on the model i bought

  • @kalob35 not mine

  • hello, just wondering, does the Remington Model 700 SPS DM have a free floating barrel? i know that the SPS Varmint doesnt, and was wondering if this one did. im 14 years old, about to turn 15, and im looking for a new gun to add to my collection. ive considered a Winchester Model 70 Ultimate Shadow because of the cost and i think it is pretty. but i really like the Model 700 SPS DM and i think if it had a free floating barrel it would definately be my first pick. thanks.

  • No the 700 SPS does not have a floated barrel. You should try to get a PSS take off or an after market stock. Try to get one with an aluminum bedding block.

  • how much does this cost

  • Here i Norway its 840 at the cheapest.

Seen it on some American sites to around 650 bucks.

  • brand new from the factory is about 650, but if you get a new one from a local gun shop it will be a little cheaper

  • @wadankhans

just picked up a Rem 700 Mountain LSS at a gun show for $350 with a Bushnell scope included! MSRP IS $1100. my first great deal on a gun.

  • @nolaOE800 congrats man, hope it serves you well

  • read description

  • Remington has a new trigger system that you can adjust the weight pull. Its great.

  • unfortunately not on the model i bought

  • damn u spent more on the scope then the gun lol

  • wow your a fucking idiot, you need practice.

  • sorry to disappoint

  • @Iris421989 Where would you suggest buying one of these? I have seen them online but I am always skeptical about buying through the internet.

  • When shooting the rifle especially hunting, you don't think about the recoil. You won't even feel it when you hunting.

  • I'm a new shooter with a 300 Remington ultra mag. Already took two muleys, one brown bear and three hogs. Recoils on my rifle to be honest kicks like a mule but after about 6 shots I was ok and I'm a small guy.

  • how are u a knew shooter after taking 6 animals

  • his balls fully drop at 4:22

  • @underworldworms no doubt about that

  • hahaha it makes me laugh how you said if you are a new shooter do a 308. 308.s dont kick much less than a 7mm mag. my dad has a 7 mag and i have a 308. i think they both kick about the same, if you are a begginer you should advise maybe a 223. or like you said a 243. but definetly not a 308. good review though

  • lespaulplayer,

You must not be the brightest crayon in the box if that makes you laugh. People who know that you don't know what you are talking about are the ones laughing.

A 150gr .308 bullet has a recoil factor of about 135, while comparably, the 7mm mag 140gr has a factor of 244, approx. 80% more!

Also depends on weight of rifle, muzzle brake, recoil pad, cheek weld & shoulder tuck.

The .308 is likable due to hardly any kick.

Obviously daddy's gun & yours are different!

  • well i have shot 3 different kinds of mm mags two were remingtons the same as my 308. and one is a winchester. i said they kick about the same, my dads is more of a push but im talking about accuracy wise the 308. isnt a great beginner gun because it has a medium kick to it. everyone knows when you first start off to get a gun with less of a kick so you can get used to recoil thats all im sayin

  • thats supposed to say 7mm

  • @lespaulplayer1234512

The #1 thing that determines recoil is the weight of the bullet. Just think, the 30-06 has a 55gr. bullet and when that little bullet is shot, the felt recoil is next to nothing! However, you take the same 30-06 and start shooting larger bullets, like a 220gr. bullet and the felt recoil is now almost 300! Technically you can have different caliber guns "feeling" the same at recoil, but it's because of the bullet weight mainly.

Just sayin' compare apples to apples.

  • I don't know very much at all either. How would you say the recoil in a .308 compares to a .223? The latter's ammo is obviously cheaper, but I'd like something with a little more range.

  • umm 308. kicks more but its not bad at all if you get a good recoil pad......in texas i can get 308. ammo for 8 bucks from academy its just depends on what kind of ammo you want...223. would be a better starter gun though. but a 7mm mag kicks a little more than a 308.

  • @lespaulplayer1234512

The .223 & .243 are more of a beginner rifle... Agreed.

  • I was thinkin the same thing. I thought a .308 would kick a little more than a 7mm if anything? But yea, I will be starting with a .223 most likely. Fuck rimfire .22 lol...I do wish however that all ammo was that cheap.

  • question. on the front of the scope u can add an extension. wuts that called and are they for all scopes???

  • I think they call it a sun shade. (it's designed to reduce glare on super sunny targets)

And no not all scopes have them.

  • its actually a sun shade

  • the butt pad doesnt reduce the recoil...it reduces the darkness of the broose that forms on your shoulder..lol

  • You're too right

  • Have you hunted with it??

  • Nah man, not yet

One day when I go through all the licenses and stuff required I'll take her out

  • my dad has a nice tikka t3 with a nikon monarch scope and it is niiice and smoooth

  • Oh yea the tikka's are some smooth bolts.

  • "And on the 3rd day God made the Remington bolt-action rifle to help man fight the Dinosaur....And the Homosexuals" XD

Can someone tell me where this quote is from?

  • i think its from "home schooled"
