I have always thought the Russian National Anthem is one of the the most beautiful and best composed. Sergey Mikhalkov and Gabriel El-Registan wrote wonderful lyrics and the music composed by Alexander Alexandrov matches the tears and hopes of a country torn asunder over many generations, yet continually united as a people and strong in heart. I compare it favorably to our own US National Anthem. May God bless the peoples of Russia - they could certainly use some blessings!

Was simply because lenin had no idea of what storm was brewing. Trostsky was more of a peace time leader. NOT a war time. Proof? Russian Civil War. Trotsky was in charge of moscow took weeks and bitter street fighting to take it. Stalin was in charge of stalingrad basicly. Put it this way theirs a reason they called it stalingrad

@CommunistSovietChris Trotsky rallied the soldiers at ST Petersburg and a morale depreciated army pushed back Ludenich's army because Trotsky was there at the battle inspiring soldiers that very well should have perished. And Stalingrad, so many died because the army was using weak weapons and were morale deminished. Tsaristyn it used to be called and the only thing that kept it as Stalingrad was the river Volga. Stalin was more concerned about Moscow than Stalingrad

@CommunistSovietChris Hitler didnt even care much about Moscow, he was more concerned about Stalingrad but Stalin had pretty much stopped caring so all that happened was more and more men were sent to their deaths because no strategy was given to use. The reason they fought to the last man in WW2 was because of the no retreat act. In the civil war, it was because they truly thought that it was for a better future at Lenins command. @CommunistSovietChris the reason they were ill prepared for was was because Tukachevsky was betrayed by Stalin and Voroshilov. Tukachevsky wanted to modernise the military and they would have been ready to fight back but because of Voroshilov, Stalin had tukachevsky tortured and killed and it wasnt until several months later that the army was modernised by Voroshilov. several months later Stalin realised the stupidity of him and by then the genocide of 30000 had happened
