  • I see where Jeff got his passion, talent & good looks from. They are greatly missed, but their music lives on & Im glad they made this world a better place.

  • Looks like the Chapman Whitney Streetwalkers was the backing band.

Whitney (ex-Family), Ian Wallace (ex-King Crimson), John Wetton (Uriah Heep, Family, Asia and King Crimson) and Tim Hinkley (on keyboards not bass!).

  • his dolphin song

  • This is some good stuff.

  • Amazing

  • loved this song 30 years ago, still sounds good today!

  • Simplemente podria pasar mi vida escuchando esta cancion

  • you can definately see the influence this song has had on Graham Coxon's 'flight to the sea".

  • I watched the Whistle Test every week....and I think this was the best performance

  • more people should hear this track

  • who is the guy at the beginning? whilst tim has a great voice, his is also like velvet!

  • The gent at the beginning is the show'

s presenter "whispering Bob Harris" !!!...... amazing!

  • top class remember watching this first time around 37years ago christ where time gone thanks tim

  • shame Richard Gere is a bit old...he'd make a good Tim Buckley in a biopic..unless he plays an older Tim Buckley in an imagined biopic as if he'd lived into his late er years. :)

  • @sirbenofboing Dont worry we have James Franco who can play him or his son Jeff.

  • @sirbenofboing let's botox richard gere! that'll be perfect!

  • @sirbenofboing haha I'm glad you said that I said that on the other performance he did on this show honey man

  • yes Evelyn... it's simple... anyone whom doesn't like that song; I don't understand. Will never understand. It's such an earthy song performed by a genius. If you don't like it then no-one likes you.

  • @natashahoneypot - it's Ian Wallace. He died in 2007

  • beautiful version of this song.probably the best imho. he looks really shot for a 27 yo tho :-[

  • I just don't understand the "dislikes"???????? WTheFU..

  • @zvonkozunic Let me explain: it means some people don't like it. I would like to put a sentence above the youyube logo that says "With any given video, some people may like it and some people may not. because you like something does not mean everyone will like it: and because you dislike something does not mean everyone will dislike it". It is such a simple point

  • @evelyneverettgreen Yes, simple point, but if you don't like it there is something wrong with you! That is pretty simple to, hey? ;)

  • Ha, 1:03, Tim conceived Jeff at age two?

  • @Naynap81086 he was 2 years older than Tim at the time of his death

  • Ha, 1:03, Tim conceived Jeff at age two?

  • @Naynap81086 26

  • who is the drummer ?

  • OMFG!! I forgot how much I loved this song! I came across this one looking for another one I mind seeing on OGWT. It sounded like "Spirit in The Night" by Bruce Springsteen but I can't seem to find it. anyone know what it was?? x

  • Rare sighting of Charlie Whitney on guitar - a great talent who seemed to drop off the radar.

  • Would have loved to hear Amy Winehouse singing this! Apt also what happened to Tim.

  • @johnbarry1965 Good call - would also like to have heard her sing the second song of this mini-set, Honey Man.

  • 7 people need put in straight jackets

  • oh my.....................

  • he is fine.

  • He looks like Richard Gere great voice just discovered Tim .

  • Tim Buckley and Fred Neil are both seriously unsung heroes.

  • This is not Tim !

  • @towne777 are you high

  • Can't believe yesterday was the anniversary of his death and I forgot. R.I.P. Tim.

  • Incredible, masculine, flowful and heartfelt performance..

  • Wow a 12-string Mustang!

  • @slowflowheat It's a Fender Electric XII. They were only made for a short time in the mid-60s. Pretty cool, huh?

  • it's crazy how they both have such soothing speaking voices and then they sing so beautifully like this. talk about vocal range.

  • Funny how Jeff looks so much like Tim yet his chin, hair and nose were so different.

  • Guy was dead years before I was even born, yet sometimes I feel like I miss him...

  • @BlackSabbathory

I feel excatly the same thing...

  • @BlackSabbathory quite sad to think thast this performance was just 1 year before his young death

  • Comment removed

  • this man was smokin hot.

Are there mere mortals that look like this out there?

  • @itisiCarlosdDwarf

you mean that announcer? my uncle looks kinda like him, he's a mere mortal i'm pretty sure

  • where are they men like this these daysssss????? well- and his son- he was quite the gem too!

  • @HeidiIvy

I ask myself that same question every day of my life! :/

  • Wow. I remember him... loved him then, still love him now.. what an artist... what a voice. Thanks for posting this gem...

  • God bless for posting.

  • Oy but how he aged in 7 years.

    Hard living.

  • Buckley was a god. RIP

  • If you like this song, you should check the record Everybody's Talking by Fred Neil - a classic from first song to the last.

He has one of the sexiest manliest voices ever.

  • @psirou Yes, Fred Neil is amazing!

  • do you think the 5 dislikes were because the video didn't have any REAL dolphins in it.. because how can you not like this man!!!???

  • Tim was a God.

  • @defecktsean

pure artist - what more did the world require of him? Thanks for the music Tim, it will last forever :)

  • no only give for the world the best voice ever...

wants more.................. give us Jeff Buckley!

    Tim, aways the best!

  • Lieve Dirk, wat jammer dat je dit niet meer kan horen.

Ik denk nog vaak aan je, liefs, H.

  • AND ON THE DRUMS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, GIVE IT UP FOR.....BILL.... MURRAY!!!!

  • pure goosebumps.

  • Sublime performance from a wonderful singer aided by musicians he's not normally associated with.

  • 5 people should not be aloud near a computer again

  • who is the guy on lead guitar?

  • @colandgran It's Charlie Whitney on lead guitar, from Family.

  • what an english voice the presenter! ahahahaha

  • thumbs up for charly whitney, ian wallace and tim henkley!

  • Absolutely wonderful

  • Wow dig the Fender 12 he's playing! Awesome performance!

  • There are so many versions of this Fred Neil (i think) song. The Beth Orton Terry Callier version is worth checking out but, like a fine whiskey, if you get the taste for this one it won't let you down

  • It's almost like he and his Son shared only one life. Tim took the first, and Jeff the second half.

  • the intro kinda sounds like "It Makes No Difference" by the Band..this really isn't my style but there's no denying there is talent here.

  • Ian Russell Wallace (29 September 1946 — 22 February 2007) The Drummer.

  • Wonderful voice!

  • Great!

  • thank you Tim for being you... and thank you for physically making Jeff Buckley... you have made the world a better place in two separate ways.

  • For my money Tim was the only person other than Fred Neil who could sing this gorgeous song on a level it deserved, his voice I swear was a force of Nature.

  • Now, THIS IS TALENT. What a stunning voice...

  • just wonderful :')

  • They just don't make music like this anymore. It's a shame...

  • beautiful stuff! what a talent!

    love presenters voice!

  • did jeff ever sing this?

  • Stunning version of Fred Neil's haunting song. Buckley was such a talent.

  • fantastic video

  • A WHOLE

  • @hebesphenomegacorona not what happened at all to both of them why dont you read on on things before just making things up.

  • @hebesphenomegacorona That, i presume is suppose to be funny. Tasteless, yes, funny, no..

  • @hebesphenomegacorona I hope your death will be ad much funny....

  • @hebesphenomegacorona

    you are so STUPID!

  • from Italy,,,bellissima canzone e grande interprete,,,

    grandissima emozione

  • This is quality ,this is music on a pure level : spiritual ,emotional, sexual.

  • and than he'd be dead within a year. how cruel of a father son tragedy. at their prime. taken.

  • What is the electric 12-string Tim is playing?

  • @wiibur a FENDER I believe...the original now very sought after and very expensive too...I dream of that guitar...the only twelve strings worth having...

  • To you and

  • Good music is timeless - x factor will be well forgotten, but music such as this will live on for ever & ever .... beautiful.

  • @MightyMiguel ye but what about the money the imposters made and what about brain cells infested with cowell's rubbish and sharon dickbreath innate comments about people's ability to sing or play?

  • Being an admirer of Tim's for many years,I know what I'm getting into here BEFORE I even watch it-I have Live in London and it's a fu*king steamroller on your awareness of real soul music.Within his style and versatility, like Joni Mitchell's vast range,T.B is in a class by himself-you'd have to dress in a 6 inch iron suit to avoid the power of this guy-ICON...and then there's his kid..

  • Hey Hollywood... please make a movie about him and cast James Franco in the lead.

  • @otwellkl James Franco looks more like Jeff

  • in 1974 Tim was allready a legend?

  • all i see is that guy's face in the beginning. i haven't even seen it.... *FAVORITE*

  • Didn't even know there was footage of him. This song, of course, is by Fred Neil, another one-of-a-kind folkie, making for a resonant association between the two. Though I doubt Neil ever took his voice the places Buckley did.

  • @tintosangre Agree completely, but wanted to stop by to thank you for the bouquet to ol' Fred who, I guess, just decided to go home to the Keys and the Dolphins. Beautiful song, huh?

  • We'll never forget you Tim.

  • CURSED FAMILY

  • So, still searchin for dolphins...some things will nevr change...so beautiful, so true..rips your heart to bits then puts it back again...

  • Wonderful!!

  • 2 wonderful men, father and son, destined to die young and destined to leave a beautiful musical legacy. Gone too soon.

  • The host is so suave and debonair

  • People don't realize it-but had he lived -he would have ruled the world, and kept real soul music legit...and then there's his son.

  • ...men always look so good in long-sleeve black shirts, sigh

  • Sheer Magic !

    Tim was stolen from us.

He left us though w, a wealth of music to keep us ever entertained .

So sad he had to leave

    Maybe it's best that way.

We will forever wonder what would have been ?

    Thanks for posting .

  • 1:14 2:08 wish i was a mic

  • Thnk this song may have been better edited..(by the BBC) if it had mentioned the fact that Tim Buckley had served in Vietnam...and that was the start of his heroin addiction....

  • @custer1968 I used to see him all the time in Detroit in the 70s and i didnt know about nam how sad...

  • @custer1968 I've been a Buckley fan forever and had never heard he served in Vietnam; I looked at all the internet stuff I could find on him and there wasn't any mention of it...?

  • @custer:Tim Buckley was a public presence as of 1965, when "Cheetah" magazine named him, along with Jackson Browne, as up & coming singer-sonwriters to keep an eye on. He was barely 18. His first LP,"Tim Buckley", was released at age 19. His life is documented, virtually minute-by-minute, from then until his death . He was never in Vietnam.

  • Wonderful dreamy sound. Brilliant stuff! Incredible talent Tim Buckley.

  • ¡¡¡Preciosa!!!

  • hes extremely high on something, look at his pupils. lsd?

  • frankly,as regards the timber,I don't seem to be able to find a voice like his, neither such a participation of the physical means

  • fuckin brilliant man!!! what else can i say!!

  • B^U

  • First heard this on the Sopranos (when Christopher is stoned) knew it was Fred Neil, but this is better, thank you for sharing this with us.

  • TB is such a great singer, but you simply have to admit some of the lyrics are proper clangers, I feel the fella who wrote them held him back,

  • I watched the Whistle Test for years in the 70s etc......I still remember this as the most electrifying performance by anyone. Not bad considering that just about everyone went on that show!

    Thanks for posting this gem.

  • I friggin' hate heroin. It has claimed far too many lives far too early over the years. Such a waste.

  • Tim looks like a sexy dude here

  • great voice! died to early just like his son

  • i loved every minute of this posting.

  • One of my favourite songs; sung by one of my favourite artists.

R.I.P. Tim Buckley. You were before your time.

  • Absolutely spectacular!

  • i heard a beautiful version by the youngbloods(live) ,but this one i like it too

  • ''Oh but sometimes I wonder, do you ever, ever think of me?'' Oh, Tim! ... I will always think of you...everyday.

  • Fantastic performance - a really talented guy

(and yes, it is Bob Harris from radio 2 seandyer2003!)

  • is the presenter bob harris from radio 2

    sounds like him

  • @seandyer2003 The very chap.

  • Awesome and very passionate...What kind of guitar is it that Tim is playing ?

  • Fender Electric XII

  • Magnificent Fred Neil song sung brilliantly by Buckley. My god, what a voice, what a talent.

  • tv presenters dont look like that anymore... lol

  • @7680joe they would be called child mololesters

  • @7680joe

HES GOT A GREAT BIG BUSHY BEARD!

  • @7680joe You don't get programs like this either which is rather sad.

  • @7680joe

    like the bee gees members

  • This is just such a wonderful performance - so poignant, even without hindsight...

  • Beautiful....Jophn "Charlie" Whitney from Family and Streetwalkers on guitar...another unsung talent

    Jim

  • Needle's damage done. This man was a monster talent

  • God like.

  • great performance, love the song. :)

  • No word's to describe !!

  • Totally Breathtaking!! love his voice!!!

  • Never thought I'd see a guy named Tim Buckley who was actually talented. This guy rocks! His son's fantastic too!

  • @Megamaniac610 He is one of those really talented artists that got and get "glossed over" by The Biz. I saw him for the 1st time at Atlantic City Pop Festival and he dared to step out in front of 50.000 people w/ just an acoustic guitar, a bongo player, and a lead guitar player. Gypsy Woman blew me and the crowd away. He's deep. If you'd like to go deeper check out the songwriter, Fred Neill, with more hit songs (by others) and even less hits on YouTube.

  • @Megamaniac610 ahahaha!

  • @Megamaniac610 TIM BUCKLEY-Amazing vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter.. But I'm here because THERE ARE NO LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEOS FOR this song's creator, FRED NEIL.-Uniquely deep, sweet, dark, and blues-ey vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter

  • @villamondo

I have never heard a better description of the legendary Fred Neil! I too would give anything to see a LIVE performance of Fred Neil.

  • @Babyhowdy233 - me too. of all the crucial musicians we can now see on YouTube, he seems to be the one who was never filmed. what a drag!

  • to me tim is someone who has the world in is heart...

  • on the words:

    few

    promotional

    sefronia

    for

    hinkley

his sexy bearded head goes a little skitz

  • Great cover. Love Buckley's Fender XII. And I so want one of those Whistle Test Button's the host is wearing.

  • The drummer is Ian Wallace whom I had the pleasure of meeting personally on a few occasions. He was from my home town of Bury, Lancashire, England.

Ian made his name in prog-rock bands like Yes and King Crimson before moving to the US and becoming the 'drummer of choice' for such 'names' as Ry Cooder, Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan (Street Legal period) and Jackson Browne.

Sadly, Ian passed away in 2007 in Los Angeles, California

  • who was the drummer? btw. I love this song. .the perfect version of it..

  • pay fucking attention to the video!

  • @solargesture - go to fuckin' hell..

sorry to all Tim Buckley's fans.. I love him too..but I don't speak english very well, that's why I asked about the drummer..lol

  • That bearded guy in the beginning has a very intense stare.

  • @redsandmountain He is known as the 'whispering voice' in Britain. Used to do a late night radio show which his voice was perfect for.

  • Still does his show on Radio2

  • Fred Neil did it better...

  • agreed

  • Chicken skin music.
