The baptism of Jesus does not teach us that God is 3 persons but only reveals the omnipresence of God and the humanity of the Son of God. Baptism is not an indication of a trinity but refers to the authoritative anointing of Jesus as the Messiah. (End)

    Acts2:38believer

John TB needed to know that Jesus was really Jehovah come in the flesh. God told John that the One who would baptize with the Holy Ghost would be identified by the Spirit descending upon him. Since the Spirit cannot be seen, God chose a dove as a visible sign fo His Spirit. The voice from heaven is for the benefit of the people.John 12:28-30 records a similar incident in which a voice come from heaven & confirmed the deity of Jesus to the people.(to be continued)

To fully understand the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist, first we have to know the purpose of His baptism, which were:

    1. He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness (Matt.3:15)

    2. He is our example & was baptized to leave us an example to follow (1 Pet. 2:21)

    3. He was baptized as a means of manifesting Himself or making Himself know to Israel (John 1:26-27,31) & to John the Baptist. The dove was a sign for the benefit of John TB. (to be continued)

    Acts2:38believer

  • Flipwash: You are wrong, the Son of God existed only when born on Earth. But the name of God from the beginning is Jesus which means Jehovah, our salvation. The sonship is a title which has an end, it is not eternal.Read: 1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

==The Word was the creator; and the Word was Jesus. The One God of Israel is Jesus.

i Tim 3:16 says "without controversy, God was manifest in the flesh..." to redeem humanity from sin.

    Acts 2:38beleiver

  • Flipwash:

Word refers to God, and Word refers to Jesus. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Gen.1:26 the "US" refers to God and the accompanying angels at creation, not persons of the trinity. "Us" appeared also in: Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech (again God with the angels)

Isaiah 48:16 does not imply 3 persons. The one speaking was prophet Isaiah, whom God used to speak to the Israelites. It is the One God of Israel and His Spirit are inseparable. For God is a Spirit.

==The trinity is incomprehensible even to you because it is really incomprehensible,i.e., cannot be understood, cannot be discerned. It is because the trinity does not exist in the Holy Bible. It is just the product or the figment of imagination of Tertulian and Athanasius which you now also subscribe to. It is odd for a person not to comprehend something and say it is true. How could you know since you don't understand? It is ironic, as well as, absurd.

    Acts2:38Believer

  • "Trinity" is not used in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God, the fact that there are 3 coexistent, co-eternal persons that make up God. Understand that this is NOT in any way suggesting 3 Gods. The Trinity is 1 God made up of 3 persons.

  • The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this does not mean it is not true or not based on the teachings of the Bible.

  • The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely greater than we are, therefore we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him.

  • Matthew 3:16-17 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." notice the TRINITY..GOD THE FATHER, SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT..

  • Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, "Let Us (notice the word US) make man in Our image, according to Our (notice the word OUR) likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 see that it is the Son speaking

  • John 1:14 Word became flesh..thats Jesus 2nd Person of the Trinity 1Timothy 3:16..To understand Jesus as God on earth praying to His Father who was God in heaven, we need to realize that the eternal Father and the eternal Son had an eternal relationship before Jesus took upon Himself humanity. John 5:19-27, Jesus did not become the Son of God when He was born in Bethlehem many years ago. He has always been the Son of God from eternity past, still is, and always will be. John 1:1 po ulit..

  • back 2 basics homies..JESUS CHRIST IS FULLY GOD AND FULLY MAN..hypostatic union, Jesus' two natures, human and divine, are inseparable. Jesus will forever be the God-man, fully God and fully human, two distinct natures in one Person. Jesus' humanity and divinity are not mixed, but are united without loss of separate identity. Mark 1:1 refers that JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD..John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

  • Flipwash:

I agree with you Jesus is fully God and fully man; Jesus has two natures: divine and human. Yes, Jesus is person, the one seen on Earth when He was born. He is the Son of God.

I would like to qualify though. There is only one Person, not 3. Read:

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.
