These ads are good, the one problem soccor faces in Australia is lack of contact. To most of us our codes gives us a combinaton of skill and physical courage that we respect its at the heart of our culture. I think a good way to market soccor would be to show goalies putting their bodies on the line, players competing for the ball hard and its prob wrong but some good fights. Its really that one thing that will always hold it back if u encourage more contact even I would love it.

Haha this is good, for everyone that thinks its ignorant, the whole idea of it was to sell the unsellable its not meant to be real, the fact that you think its real the advertising companys that produced it did a good job but you need to lighten up
The best way to make Soccer or Football Australia's number one sport is for the media to put their agendas and their misunderstandings about the game to rest. These ads do not help. I used to expect better from the ABC now I'm not surprised.
@darkharlequin11 lol this ad is light-hearted comedy, don't be so defensive. And by the way I doubt soccer will ever be Australia's number one sport it has to pass rugby, league, aussie rules and the mother of all CRICKET! That's a mountain to climb
@koorja1 I think you'll find a lot of people weren't impressed with this. Seemed like it was more an ad for the how awesome NRL and AFL is than an advertisement for Soccer like it was supposed to be which makes it a failure. And yes it is a mountain to climb especially with the media on top pushing boulders down on them like this for example.
@darkharlequin11 The media takes the piss out of all the NRL scandals constantly (cause there's so many of them) as well as the AFL yet you have a niggle at soccer and all the soccer people have a tantrum. It's just like all the injuries you see in soccer, pure performence
@koorja1 True but there has been evidence presented in court proving channel 7 were pressured into burying Soccer by the AFL when they had the rights and the Crawford report clearly shows that the government is well aware of the treatment of Soccer by the media. All the injuries? Come on man. Look, every sport has their share of simulators. Even the AFL.
@darkharlequin11 I know I support Rugby Union and channel 7 has done the same to please the AFL. The thing with the simulators is they are in rugby, league and AFL except they on the whole are punished or at least ridiculed for it whereas in soccer it seems to be part and parcel with the game, which is a big turn off for many Australians
@koorja1 The A-League bought in measures to stop that kind of thing and it seems to be working. Some Perth Glory guy got suspended for suspected simulation. Don't worry, us Soccer fans hate it too. Just watch Australia Vs any Asian team and you'll see the worst of it.
@darkharlequin11 Yeah I live in Perth, it was pretty big news but it's what the game needs to appeal to the Australian audience. I know plenty of soccer people that get frustrated because of it as well. The thing is for the amount of people trying to stop simulation there are probably just as many trying to justify it like Craig Foster. That fella does more harm than good to the game.
@koorja1 Absolutely. Not a fan of Foz. I think I'd rather see this us vs them stuff dead and buried which is why I dislike these ads and the guys from SBS. They're all Australian teams representing Australian cities, states and the nation as a whole so it's all good in my book.
