Thanks for this video! My last name is "Hammack" and my 6 yr old son asked why it's sometimes spelled with an "o...c...k." This was a great way to show him what a "hammock" is!
the motorcycle ties or vehicle straps that you use are fast but far too heavy for ultralight stealth camping. Yes the treehuggers and knots might be a tad more complicated but they are light and actually, one you practice a few time the figure eight knots are ridiculously easy. I have the same weight argument again using fat carabiners and o-rings. Great ideas though.
@ragegap The video is simply trying to demonstrate how quick and easy this type of shelter can be when compared to alternatives. Speed is of the essence if you're cold and wet and in need of shelter in a hurry and this setup is pretty quick!
The only thing i dfon't like about these is that they seem to have alot of little plastic clips etc such as to attach the tarp. How would it go if you were out in the bush and one of them broke. Basic and simple will leave less to go wrong (ie tied on with simple knots from the word go.
PS as a long term square tarp user how do these tarps go if the wind is pushing the rain in on an angle?
@DaveTPC These are amazing at creating a good shelter from the rain. The attachment points are strong and the adjustability of the system is the same or easier as a tarp.
That said, I use a tarp well up over my fire making/wood storage and lounging areas.
yes (ADKOMGroup) if you can figure out what he is using for his suspension system he's using please tell me. I'm still waiting on this guy to tell me what he's using..
a comment about snake skins, a lot of people are fond of them, but for me it increased packing size. i converted to a double ended stuff sack. stuff as fast as you can, done. Deploys faster than you can secure to the trees and the stuff sack remains attached because the suspension lines run through it. Just an idea and it is working for us error free and compression "able".
@ADKOMGroup That's a great idea! Where did you buy that stuff sack and is it as light as the original sack? What do you do with the hammock ropes and tree protectors while it's stuffed?
i have been using a hennessy ultralight backpacker and all of my students are now using hennessey, what is the suspension system you are using. i have become very pleased with the carabiner and repelling rings, but yours is great too. Can you provide any info
nope. you modified it! not cool.. and its uneven. you will slide all night long. i think i have a project now. two mn i can do that. w/ no modifying too. i'll get back too u
@jshep420 you need your head end to be slightly lower anyway.... perfectly flat you will slide a little towards the door because your torso is heavier than your legs.
agreed though, massive mods, whats wrong with a garda hitch? i know its a mod but it still uses tree huggers.... and you need to buy snake skins!!! it would be infinitely faster!
If you would use the snake skins you could shave off more time. Still having shelter outdoors in just over 2 minutes is still great. Thanks Mr. Hennessy .
Good job dude! May be easier to do the 2.5 min with the snakeskins, but i'm impressed.

@CohanDigitmatta You're right. There should be a Special Police Dept. set up to combat that sort of behaviour. Hammock 5-0.

The rigging look to me like vehicle tie downs with carabiners on them ... Or something to that effect?

Please do comment on your personal rigging; it appears to work very well. (I will check out the forum you mention as well.) Thank you.

Nice, could you comment on the rigging you are using. Thanks.
