@SpectrumConcerts I would suggest more practice and studying and it will be rather very good, then very dull... I would also suggest to lower your nose down, it helps tremendously in learning how to play violin...
What should be the general tuning? A=440 or A=442?
Recent orchestras tend to tune for A=442, and sometimes even higher... But here, tuning is not mentioned in any text or partition and should be cleared.
I'm sure the tech guys could fix "2 Hertz" with a software such as Protools or Cubase easily but it wouldn't be professional, as this project seems.

My instrument is flute. (I've been playing for 10 years and have experience in conducting)When I compared the conductors score with the flute pariton, there were some major errors, such as a phrase on the conductors score between measures 16-21 is missing on the flute paritition. (By the way flutes are clearly cued at those measures in the practice video)
I want to know if any of you came across with similar errors in violin parititons?
I hope one day there will be a lower-graded internet symphony. As a grade 5 violinist I got a little excited then realised that this isn't actually for 'everyone'. Still, I do wish everyone the very best and look forward to listening to the final performance next year with a particular ear for the violins. :)
if you go to prepare, it will go to what you need to prepare for video one. there is a link that says video two, and thats where the pub. domain pieces are. I had trouble finding them at first also.
you actually have to purchase the music yourself, or just don't submit one. You can still be selected for the virtual orchestra if u don't submit 2nd piece, but you just can't go to Carnegie to perform
I noticed that too, and now I'm confused about which bowing will be expected. I guess I'll just try it both ways and see what works best. (I was practicing it a different way than both of the other suggestions and it still worked out.)
ya i like hearing second part because it's adds the harmony to the sound....it sucks that seconds have the reputation of being the rejects or the not good enough group...sooo not true

This is unfortunately very dull. Please talk more about the music. This is what unifies creative people and drives them to technical perfection.

anyone notice his bowing is different from the 1st violin master class?
solderflux 3 years ago
his bowing would probably be better for a section to play cleanly.
darkhusker 3 years ago
i guess it depends on which one you would rather prefer
LPclneros 3 years ago
it's all contrast.
TheRealShadoninja 3 years ago
in the cello master class, mr blayden said that the whole string section changed the bowing to something else.
the bowing mr grach here uses is the same one as the one in the cello master class.
however, the bowings in the first violin master class is different, and the viola master class uses the same bowing as the one given on the music.
i would go with this bowing. hope this helps (:

Just getting an idea, what level are you guys at? How many years have you been playing Violin?
georgexu316 3 years ago
hey everyone
when we submit do we play w/ sound or only by ourselves? as in w/ the orchestra or only the conductor
thx
electrifyd 3 years ago
You must play by your self, because when they put them together, they only want your sound.
georgexu316 3 years ago
thx!

This may seem like a silly question, but do we begin the audition at measure 29 itself? Or should we play through the beginning bit as well? :)

The bowing for the opening Allegro is different from the bowing suggested in Violin I. Have Violin I and II decided which way to bow these notes?

Exactly, we anchor the first violins, without us they would be lost. Well maybe, it really depends more on the composers style.
