@covermm Still you are the one that is wrong! The "effects" doesnt make you better and if someone use these effects you can still hear if they play good or not. There are no effects making you better but of course it can "sound" better. But I still can hear if its talented or not.

That's mostly a load of BS. Yes, today the guitarists do use "effects" or rather gadgets to give them the sound that others during the 60s invented. But it doesn't improve their technique. To prolong a note into eternity by feeding it back to the pickup from the loudspeakers isn't skill, its inventive, but once invented, anyone can do it, but hardly reinvent it. Cutting the cones of the amplifier to get a distortion isn't skill, just inventive, still when invented, anyone can do it.

what sound effects does he use to get the full solid power sound? is it distortion or overdrive? (what's exactly the difference between the two?) Never experimented using effects just play it wih pure sound but doesn't sound the same so i'm trying to expand now ;)

marshall JCM 800 what is amazing beefy sound to it

Vox AC30 which is a more metal music amp

and a speaker simulator

and apparentaly they adapted the guitar in the first bit of this to make it sound better like they do on TV and so on

I used to use an old Sound City 120 valve amp as did the lads before the Marshall and Vox era's put an Ibanez overdrive through the reverb in/out it sounded terrific !!! sorry guys showing my age again!!!!!

hi i have this dvd and he explains that if you turn your pick slightly to the side and hit the string along with parm muting you will get a heavier sound from it, it works too!

yeah my string guage wont let me do it well the string guage is only to a 46 and he uses a 56 and 46 on the bottom end so that 1 of the main reasons

try a heavier pik maybe? and mess around with your base on your amp, i manage to get this sound without heavy strings, just trial and error really

tubelogin1 - I don't believe there is another rhythm guitarist that gets close to Parfitt for sheer consistency. It's not easy to play to Quo despite all the cheap jibes. Many guitarists when asked to play a Quo type 12 Bar shuffle cannot hold a candle to Rick Parfitt.
