@LoganCoutts There's no cheats when you draw a car, unless you copy outline of another car. There's no rules when you need any tools on side to use to draw a nice car. So whatever you think it will help you to look your car nice and good use it. Most designers use free hand b/c you sketch the car, not final outlook. The most important thing is perspective of the car, size of the car and component of the car that fall in whole "puzzle".
@LoganCoutts if you mean ellipse templates ABSOLUTELY NOT cheating.. as a matter of fact alot of the times if you try to "fine tune" your rendering more you'll find you have to use a template cause as doing it freehand is sloppy and people (not just the regular person on the street but ESPECIALLY other artists) will see a wheel and think it looks wrong if you didn't spend more time making sure they are relatively accurate. ALL pros make sure to get ellipses for wheels plastic or computer
@prulleman2 The reference to degrees is to the circle degree. look at ellipse templates it gives a degree number for each ellipse .If you use 45 degree for the closest wheel to you, then the back wheel would be 35-30 degree angle and the front left wheel would be 55-60 degree
Its nice to see you do not have to draw the horizontal line and vashing point all the time. Thats the way I would doodle a car in high school.
