@Ranger4402 They'll have to shave at least a small area around it, but I keep my head buzzed down to the skin anyway. I've been balding since 23, so I just keep it all down to nothing. All or nothing I say.
This was done by a dermatologist that I was referred to. Still just a simple outpatient procedure, so it's just a matter if your regular doc is trained to do this kind of job or not.
@Spook50 question, i have found a small bump on my mother's head, it looks a bit off color and im starting to think its this however on the other side of her head is a small bald spot.....does this cause bald spots ?
Ow, muchterfucker! Was that huge incision really fucking necessary?? Doctors, man. Sometimes they take this cutting-giant-holes-in-people shit too lightly.
@GuacamoleKun if you've ever had a cyst excised you'd understand - its kind of necessary. Not pleasant, but necessary. Surgeons actually take the whole "cutting-giant-holes-in-people-shit" very seriously..and i mean that in an "only-as-necessary" kind of way.
My boyfriend has three small cyst like this he wont go to the doctors and I told him it wasnt hard to do but he feels there is no need I feel there is a need so they don't get any bigger they are about that size but they concern me.
Well, that was kinda cool! These seem like pretty innocuous cysts, unlike MRSA or something. Do you know what type they were - that is, if they had some medically specific name? Anyway, I'm glad this was pretty traumaless for you and i hope your head remains cyst-free :-)
It amazes me all the different techniques used! some don't cut they just press until it bursts! Others do a TINY hole then press HARD to get string cheese out! Others cut great and normal amounts come out easily enough! Then there's the "get er done" ones - one huge cut, push, tug, over! I wonder what's best?
anytime i feel life is hard, i remind myself that there was a time when no antibiotics existed, and there was a time when no anasthetic existed. in fact, since the begining of humans, we're the first couple of generations to have such a luxury.
I was wondering what exactly would have happened if one of your cysts 'core' HAD been ruptured? How do you avoid that and how much of a complication is it if the core ruptures? You stated that "...neither core was ruptured..". I have a "when" not sure how it is spelled, but it is basically a benign cyst on my scalp as well. I'm just a little nervous about the outpatient surgery so I'm researching.
@joem104joem104 i wondered about that too. What difference does it make if it ruptures because it is being "cut out" anyway....there is going to be blood.
I had 3 removed from my scalp.2 pea sized & 1 grape sized.I hated these hard protrusians on my head.Felt like I had small horns!Had to have mine removed in hospital becuz of hypertension, few other medical conditions.Didn't hurt atall.Insurance paid for it.Is hereditary;my Mom's Dad,her, myself & 2 Sisters. No longer callt a knotty head by teasin family.Dr got the whole enclosed cyst so most likely not return.Cut mine open /showed me.Is a waxy pouch with greasy hair & pus in it.
I really want to know does this hurt at all? As I have one, and I want it removed, but I am scared its going to hurt, and I am a really sissy when it comes to pain.
@RisingSun2007 the doctors will most certainly numb it up before cutting on you. The only thing that will hurt is the injections from the needles to numb you up. IT may feel a bit strange while they are working on you but you shouldn't have any pain. After the proceedture is done and the numbness wares off you might have some pain....but who cares "it's over".....they may even give you some pain killer pills to take afterwards. I urge you to see a doctor.....it can only get worse. Good Luck
@inkey2 Thanks for the info. That was the only thing I was really worried about. I appreciate the information. I now feel like I have nothing to worry about, and you're right I certainly don't want it to get any bigger than it is. I already have an appointment set up and everything.
@RisingSun2007 yeah, good luck on that surgury......actually I have had a lot of surguries......mostley dental work.....but my wife has had a cyst removed from her foot and one in her hand......this shit happens, especially as you get older. Your body is like a car.....keep up the maintainance and it will run great......but......neglect it and it will fall apart
@bobzeda so were those cysts free floating in there or are they attached to the internal tissue.? There is one guy on youtube who has a lump on his head the size of a golf ball and he has his wife jamming a filthy foldable pocket knife in it.....I just couldn't believe my eyes. I have done a few minor home surguries on myself....but you have to be smart enough to know when you need a real surgeon......
did those cysts feel like little pieces of cartilage underneath your skin and if so what kind of cyst are they? o and ps how much does it cost to take one out?

Hi, i have a cyst in my scalp that is pretty much the same, although my GP has refused to remove it until it gets bigger. I was wondering if you could post a follow up, just to show how the scar has healed? Is it still visible? Thank you.
@signogun I had one removed 4 yrs.ago & it took FOREVER to heal. I developed a hematoma from the trapped blood (I was stitched while still bleeding a lot-nowhere for the blood to go) & the stupid dr. didn't get it all so it grew back. At the time my GP wanted to send me to a plastic surgeon but I was afraid of insurance issues-here in Bermuda the Ins. @signogun Oh-I should also say that when it did FINALLY heal there was only a thin scar...it was easily covered with my hair. Even if one is bald (don't know if you're a girl or a guy) the scar should be barely visible.
Only thing in my case is that I have to go and get it re-opened again because the damn thing has grown back to the original size. Make sure you go to a really good doctor (and don't get me wrong-we have GREAT doctors here) because if they don't get the whole sac it'll return.
what type of cyst us that? I have one that is hard on my wrist, and the doctor says it's a ganglion cyst, but it's really hard... There's no way this cyst on my wrist is full of that jelly stuff. I think it's the kind you have in this video, but I have no clue what kind it is...
Also, why did you have the whole thing removed? You could've just had the doc cut into the cyst, squeeze, and pull out the sack. It would leave a MUCH smaller scar, as well as being better youtube viewing

I have two questions and thanks in advance for answering them!
1. Did the doctor have to shave your head?
2. Did your normal attending doctor that you usually see do thsi or did you have to get referred to another doctor?
I ask because I have a cyst I need removed on my head.
