im lookin for some hip openers to improve my flexibility for kicking, In the past i got some great results from the butterfly stretch but my knees started to ache so I stopped for a while and never started again. I put it down to doing to much too soon and having poorly conditioned legs. Its been about 3-4 months with no knee pain so im going to start over. I usually hold the butterfly for about 15-20 min a day once warmed up. Is knee pain normal? any other hip openers u can recommend? any tips?

has this had any negative effects on your body? i mean problems running or walking or playing sports?

@OBrien19 Not really...a lot of Kandasana work does make (over)splits a little harder...kinda changes the orientation of the hips somewhat.
