Even as an RP speaker, I prefer to say "zee" in the song - because otherwise it breaks the rhyme. When reciting the alphabet, it becomes "zed". Not a biggie, but everyone has their preference. It doesn't bother me, either, whether my kids choose to sing and/or say zee or zed. ;)

My daughter's dad is Canadian, I'm an American. She knows I say Zee and her dad says Zed. She understands that where we live we pronounce it Zee and she's 5! I really don't see what the big deal is! So what if your kid learns a wee little bit of the differences between our countries?! That's a good thing! :)
