  • Very nice. Maybe you could start testing out bows- for instance one title might be french bow sound sample

  • OMG!! that is such a nice violin!!! i have a pretty nice violin so i have been told.... but this violin is beautiful!!

  • @littlecupcakesROCK -- hi, its one of over 300 violins that we have sampled here on eboyinc and it is a fantastic instrument. thanks for commenting :)

  • Beautiful! It's so amazing that someone the same age as me can play so well! :D Its like every song from the sound samples is alive and have their own personality. Haha, motivates me to do my best as well!! Though i don't play the Violin.. :/ I play the Clarinet! ^^

  • beautiful in looks and sound! Ahh, I'm in love with this...

  • how many practise to have this level ? u play in a famous conservatory to have this level ?

  • why is it so pretteh e.e

  • how old is it? It says "very old", but any specific date?

  • @lycaify -- well, its been 2 years since we played on this violin (we only get to spend about 5 minutes with each instrument...just enough time to tune it and record a quick video sound sample). i don't know an exact date, but it was probably mid 19th century, about 150 years old. nice violin...i remember my brother was impressed with it (he did the playing on this one).

  • @eboyinc Thanks~ Both of you are superb violinists, same with your students. I really enjoy watching your videos as a violinists myself. Sadly, i cant get to this level of playing :( Im only an Intermediate player. I hope to see more of your excellent videos :3

  • OMG that is was a BEAUTIFUL!

  • @camelFlo94fan -- hey thanks!

  • @MatteoBanelli -- the violins that me and my sister play here on eboyinc are part of a collection of fine violins that were collected by a professional violinist who passed away a few years ago. their family asked us to do a short recording...a "sound sample" of each instrument. we only get to spend about 5 minutes with each instrument. just long enough to tune them up and record a quick piece.

  • that open A has such a warm sound. What a gorgeous violin.

  • @TheRealrocker74 -- one of my favorites...

  • What's the name of the first song you play?? It's been a long long time since i'm trying to find it but I don't know the name and it's the first time I hear it again!!!!

    So beautiful....

Can you please tell me the name of it, thanks! well played! :)

  • you play great! (and a beautifull violin, but there's no need anymore to tell you that, you probably know already..)

  • @meesbroersen -- thanks!!! the violin is a work of art :)

  • @eboyinc thats not the only work of art in this video ;-)

  • i wish i could get one violin like that ! but too expensive ! : (

it is a great one, i like its sound

  • @Arnaud2302 -- thanks...i agree with you on the sound of this violin...

  • Like a fine wine, my teacher says, violins get better with age :)

  • @Sortudinho -- so true c:

  • I wish you could record the whole piece sounds good wish you were able to finish it. :)

  • beautiful sounding instrument...its true that the older they get, the better they sound. And of course, very nicely played there.

  • @MrBazzat11 --- i agree totally...this violin has an amazing, very mature sound. i think that generally, yes, the older they are, the better the potential sound.

  • I like this violin very much...Aaaaa

  • es el violin mas hermozo q e visto!!! quisiera tocarlo auque fueran solo 5 minutos!!!!!!

  • gracias! entiendo y estoy en el acuerdo totalmente.

  • I do not play violin, but I have to say. Out of many videos you've uploaded, I favor this on the most.

  • hey thanks...glad you liked it!

  • i love watching your sample tests!! love em soo much, and u seem to know ALOT about violins. i want to get a violin that is pretty mellow that can produce really rich deep sounds, but can penetrate through as well. i know string type and quality, the brigde, and style of playing help, but which type of violin would u recommend?

  • well, i'm just a student violinist and not an expert on violins. i'd say it depends alot on what you want to spend on a violin.

  • lovely violin ;x

  • hi, thanks...i agree, its one of my favvorites :D

  • Fantastic!

  • OMG!

    I must have your violin

  • hi, i'd love to have it too, but these violins belong to the estate of a professional violinist; my brother and i were asked to produce these sound samples to help catalog the collection...we only get about 5 minutes with each instrument :D

  • haha okayy.

    it produces a nice sound.

Im going to get this violin one day haha, jokes.

just wondering, what type of violing do you own?

I have the Carlo Lamberti Master Series Guarneri Violin

  • I see, so it is to say: "grab this one and you'll get this sound", not necessarily the full potential soundwise (as strings may be worn). btw what about the fittings that you've mentioned to come across? just heavily worn or some old style? interesting. the more your videos I see the more I think how well you both play but the less I grab the benefits of this way of making a catalog O=)

  • I was just wondering: so you make samples of these violins, what about the strings - the same type every time? And bridges - are they always fine grade?

  • That violin is so beautiful ... I´m jealous

  • you have a good ear...this is a remarkable violin...i wish my own violin were as good :D

  • Btw ... I have seen 5 of your vids from this collection... and as far... I think this violin is my fav ^_^

I had a similar experience in China 2 years ago with a 101 violin collection. Is a wonderful experience you guys had ^_^

  • hi, wow, that sounds fantastic. doing the sound samples to help catalog this collection kinda just started out as something we agreed to do as a favor, but its been a really amazing experience in just about every way imaginable.

  • how many violins you have/???

  • Beautiful violin and excellent playing! I noticed that you do your vibrato by moving your whole arm whereas a lot of people do it by moving their wrist. Is either way better than the other? I have been doing it your way for a long time because I can't seem to do it the other way.

  • thanks...your question on vibrato is a good one and hard to answer since i'm just a student, but i've been taught to do various forms of vibrato for different effects and for different situations. and i've heard and seen finger, hand/wrist, and arm vibrato used to various effect.

  • good answer... besides that short vibratos which usually comes from arm vibratos are mostly used on baroque music and some form the classical era of the music such as this video "Mozart".

Wrist vibrato is mostly used for the Romantic Era of the music using wide vibrato such Thais Meditation from Massenet or as in Kreisler's, or some works from Elgar.

Besides that keep in mind, the higher note you reach, the faster your vibrato must be.

  • I second that

  • thanks!

  • Nothng short of epicness. Lol

  • is it for sale?

    if so, how much?

  • i just do the sound samples and am not involved in selling these violins. some will remain in the collection, some are sold, some are on loan to professional musicians, some are on loan to convservatory students. if i hear anything about this one, i'll let you know.

  • I too would like to know .... im sure most ppl who have seen this vid would.

  • yeah...nope...... still not getting tired of this....... i LOVE it!

  • Beautiful sound!

  • i agree totally. this is a really nice old violin.

  • So similar to your other Italian violin. Sweet sound and playing is always the best. Thank you for playing again for us.

  • yes, very similar to the other italian...beautiful old violin :D

  • I think this would have to be my favorite violin.

So nice and warm. Almost Viola like.

    <33

  • you have a good ear...this violin is amazing :D

  • i swear.

If I ever get far enough, and with enough money, I wanna get an acoustic violin similar to this.

    :D

My teacher has one that's warm like this, with the dark wood too.

  • Amazing performance!!!

  • Very nice playing. Before retiring, I played on a Gaetano Atoniazzi which had a voice similar to this violin. You have a bright future ahead of you I think.

  • thanks so much! this is a beautiful violin and i love its voice.

  • another fav!

  • thanks...glad you liked it.

  • This sounds very much an Italian violin. Wonderful violin. Thank you for posting this. You play it well as usual.

  • thanks! this violin is awsome. i agree with you 100%--the sound is amazing.

  • OMG O_O that is one beautiful violin!

  • you have a good ear for sure. this is one of the most beautiful sounding and powerful violins i've ever played...its really old, probably early 19th century and is amazingly beautiful to look at too. i tried a 200,000 dollar guadagnini that belonged to a teacher at a masterclass...it was nice, but it didn't come close to this violin :D

  • Wow - da Salos, copies or originals, are few and far between. I played my teacher's maggini once, it's such a deep rich sound. what a great video and violin

  • thanks...this violin is awsome to play...i barely touch the bow to the strings and it just sings. its one of the most amazing violins i've ever played. as usual, you have a good ear!

  • This one has a sweet voice! very lovely playing!

  • thanks as always...yes, this one is like an opera star :D
