If I get friday night off on July 23 I'm going to see them live in concert in Times Square, NY. They haven't toured stateside in 2 decades and I've been a fan since then! They drew alot of comparisons to UB40 and Steely Dan
@sevenoctave You can. Just sit there and force it for about three days. And it will start to happen. Trust me I had to do it. It works but keep pressing it.
I love this version of something about you it's far better than the album. Mark Kings base playing is bloody fantastic - and yes I love that base sound
I love this. There are still so many clips and vids I have yet to see. Almost like falling in love with them all over again....ahhh!
BTW Anyone have any footage of their performance on a show called Live From the Palace. It aired in 1987 (I'm guessing) to support the release of Running in the Family.
I saw this back in the day...it was the Saturday b4 their concerts in San Francisco bay area...saw twice in San Fran and once in LA..met them..soo cool..and marks pumas were awesome!!!He is soooo sexy in his sweatpants and tshirt...yummmmm
Mark sure did love to wear anything with the 'Puma' shoes logo on it. Kind of tacky to be wearing sweat pants on a tv show. But then again, Mark King could be wearing a wife-beater and polka dot jockey shorts for all we care and it would be o.k. by us.......lol
I love this song so much, it is very special to me. Seeing Mark and the boys like this is fantastic. Don't they sound just great? I can't wait to see this Oct 4th in Manchester, UK. Thanks Cori for thinking of me and sending this.
Its a great show ... !! I only saw them play once in Canada ... well i saw 3/4 of the original lineup ... Boon had left already but Phil was still with them ( but not even two weeks before Phil left ) .. but they still put on one awsome show !!!!
I love the bassline he plays during the verse in this live version of something about you... He does'nt always play it that way on tour , had no idea it went back to 86'... as for leaving me now !!! All time classic song ! What a band ..........
Shame about cutting off the guitar solo!

Wow! Killer bass line. The accent that Mark does at around 1:53 is cool as hell. They sound pretty damn good live.

@dimdom21 That bass is being played over a bass synth track. I started to do it on my songs and it just creates a weird but desirable ambience.

What a great post this is, one of my two fav songs, even played on the fab Status bass... ;-)
Thanks for sharing!

The Status S2 in Pillar box red was awesome and sounded it to.
Annie McCaig sounded great here and will always be missed by us 42 fans

That Status sounds fantastic - prabably the best bass I've ever heard. But also what a great player Mark is!

@lukoza1 It being played over a synth track also. So that adds to the sound.

Is that Annie singing background with them back in 86? It sure sounds like her.

Are you referring to Annie Lennox? If so that isn't her. She does have the same vocal style though.

No, I was referring to Annie McCaig.

I know young DJ's who play this for young kids and everybody just looses their shit because it's so dead-on. This music hasn't died.
