  • Shame about cutting off the guitar solo!

  • That's Annie Macaig on Backing Vocals

  • What the hell is the chick there for?

  • They are MY Beatles!

  • He is one hot ass bassist....and sings lead too....WOW!!

  • If I get friday night off on July 23 I'm going to see them live in concert in Times Square, NY. They haven't toured stateside in 2 decades and I've been a fan since then! They drew alot of comparisons to UB40 and Steely Dan

  • @NewaverPostpunk good 4 u mate, hope u enjoy, i would.

  • Backing singer: Annie McCaig

  • i miss the guitar solo starting around 2:50 :(

  • I actually think it's Carrie Fisher.

  • Wow! Killer bass line. The accent that Mark does at around 1:53 is cool as hell. They sound pretty damn good live.

  • I wish i could simultaneously sing and play syncopated bass lines like Mark King.....all these years and he still amazes me :)

  • @sevenoctave You can. Just sit there and force it for about three days. And it will start to happen. Trust me I had to do it. It works but keep pressing it.

  • Eso es talento¡ no como los "artistas" de mierda de televisa de aca de Mexico

  • is the gtr playre the one who died early?

    That was Alan Murphy.

  • 2 great hits of them

  • Anthony David did a remake of this song. I love both.

  • I love this version of something about you it's far better than the album. Mark Kings base playing is bloody fantastic - and yes I love that base sound

  • @dimdom21 That bass is being played over a bass synth track. I started to do it on my songs and it just creates a weird but desirable ambience.

  • What a great post this is, one of my two fav songs, even played on the fab Status bass... ;-)

    Thanks for sharing!

  • The Status S2 in Pillar box red was awesome and sounded it to.

Annie McCaig sounded great here and will always be missed by us 42 fans

  • That Status sounds fantastic - prabably the best bass I've ever heard. But also what a great player Mark is!

  • @lukoza1 It being played over a synth track also. So that adds to the sound.

  • this reminds me of a very good era in my life thanks kwin and LEVEL 42

  • There were two songs that were ever present in the summer of '86. This and "I can't wait" by New Shoes! Great stuff!

  • please dont delete this video.

  • the crowd needs to wake up

    the Status sounds awesome

  • Is that Annie singing background with them back in 86? It sure sounds like her.

  • Are you referring to Annie Lennox? If so that isn't her. She does have the same vocal style though.

  • No, I was referring to Annie McCaig.

  • great..and its live!

  • wot a lovely sound from that status!

  • I love this. There are still so many clips and vids I have yet to see. Almost like falling in love with them all over again....ahhh!

BTW Anyone have any footage of their performance on a show called Live From the Palace. It aired in 1987 (I'm guessing) to support the release of Running in the Family.

  • I have looked for this performance for 14 years now, but have never been able to find it until now. Thanks!!!

  • Check out my clip from the Southampton gig. Still sounds fresh, over twenty years later.

  • I know young DJ's who play this for young kids and everybody just looses their shit because it's so dead-on. This music hasn't died.

  • I saw this back in the day...it was the Saturday b4 their concerts in San Francisco bay area...saw twice in San Fran and once in LA..met them..soo cool..and marks pumas were awesome!!!He is soooo sexy in his sweatpants and tshirt...yummmmm

  • Thanks for posting this performance, it's so GREAT!

    Best band ever!!!

Love to hear Mark playing on the Status basses.

  • The status 2 sounds amazing, great find not often you see him use this live.

  • Mark sure did love to wear anything with the 'Puma' shoes logo on it. Kind of tacky to be wearing sweat pants on a tv show. But then again, Mark King could be wearing a wife-beater and polka dot jockey shorts for all we care and it would be o.k. by us.......lol

  • DAMN RIGHT

  • wow that second track sounds great, better than a record.

  • I love this song so much, it is very special to me. Seeing Mark and the boys like this is fantastic. Don't they sound just great? I can't wait to see this Oct 4th in Manchester, UK. Thanks Cori for thinking of me and sending this.

  • Both tunes are CLASSICS!!! These are great!

Thank you so much for sharing!

  • Its a great show ... !! I only saw them play once in Canada ... well i saw 3/4 of the original lineup ... Boon had left already but Phil was still with them ( but not even two weeks before Phil left ) .. but they still put on one awsome show !!!!

  • I love the bassline he plays during the verse in this live version of something about you... He does'nt always play it that way on tour , had no idea it went back to 86'... as for leaving me now !!! All time classic song ! What a band ..........

  • ..its a Series 2000!

  • Great to see Mark playing the Pillar box red S2 amazing find.

  • Mark King is hier echt een lekker ding!!!

  • Rare to see him actually play his red Status live......great post.

  • Superb couple of video clips. Mark and the gang sounding great live as they always did.

I miss the original line up, nothing to touch them.

    Thanks for posting the clips.
