If anything the Monster requires more skill since small movements (throttle/brakes/handlebars) create larger reactions than on any cruiser be it a honda rebel or a Harley Ultra Classic CVO

I got the chance to test drive a 2009 Ducati 848 last year. I went down to the dealership with my buddy so we could give it a run. Good thing I went first my buddy took a corner to wide. he went off the road and low sided the bike into an almond grove. $7000 in damage to a brand new 848 with 120 miles on it. Such a shame.

These crashes happen on these bikes mostly because the bars give you less feedback than the clipons. Plus those clipons get your body in the best position for weight distrubution in the corners so that the front tire has some weight on it and doesn't just slip away. But it makes a more comforable ride so once you know what you have given up then you can ride accordingly.

i did something similar while racing a modified monster in Sicily. There was a slight dip in the track surface.. with the bike just leaned over and the suspension compressed... there is no forgivness and you loose traction on the front tire.. Shit happens.. that is why you wear the best gear that you can afford..

You can always put new plastic parts on your bike and later sell it and forget about this but when you put some steel bars,plates to your body You will have to live with that sometimesto the end of your life. And somaetimes it's not possible to drive the bike again....
