Remember Clause 28, a nice anti-gay present from Maggie Thatcher? So they were really making a statement. And it picked up good, because they indeed had not just gay fans....

@galenatt well said mate, i met Marc Almond in 1987 me and my girl were looking for a taxi in London when we bumped into Marc and a group of his friends outside charing X station  i got him to sign my T shirt that i was wearing my girlfriend at first not amused later understood and laughed it off . My main point is that it was the 80's attitude to music that changed our somewhat pre meditated opinion to accept all for whatever they are, regardless of colour creed religion or sexual orientation.
