The Mỹ Lai Massacre was the mass murder conducted by a unit of the U.S. Army on 3/16/68 of 347–504 unarmed civilian citizens in S. Vietnam, the majority of whom were women, children, babies & the elderly. They were, beaten, tortured & mutilated. The massacre took place in the hamlets of Mỹ Lai & Mỹ Khe. While 26 U.S. soldiers were charged for their crimes at Mỹ Lai , only William Calley was convicted. He served three years of an original life-sentence under house-arrest.
