This is a great camera I work for a video production company out of West palm beach, FL and since the jvc gy hd200 came out we've had them. They never fail to impress our clients. they are expensive but sometimes you have to pay the price for quality

No i bought the hard drive that records... the camera only does tape.

The camera is now cheaper because the new one is out. so i think this goes for like $4000 USD i think.

btw i searched all over the place and now i found out that canon xh a1s is better for me... there are more expensive cameras but only for high pro camera men...

why are there artifacts on the bottom right corner every once in a while? Is this just a problem with your DV tape?

Not on tape it was the first time we used the Hard Drive and it did it that one time, since then i have never had that issue... weird!

I cannot seem to digest the footage correctly for the life of me, Premiere always messes up the audio (im even shooting just at 720 30p... and FCP wont recognize the camera at all to capture... what are you editting with? Nice piece btw! Loved the use of lighting!

When you open final cut, go to tool bar and click the final cut pro tab, when drop down appears select easy setup menu. Select corresponding format HDV 60p/30p/24p. Make sure you final cut software has the latest updates.

Thanks man! I think i'll be getting one of these. Now i have a question. How do you shoot the first scene where the couple is lying on the ground? Was that with a crane ? On a tripod? How did you go in circles?

what were the settings in the camera process menu?

out of the box settings, it was the first time we had used the camera at the time.

i may have changed the black to like -1 or -2

Yes you can change the lens on the JVC GY-HD models. It uses a beyonet mount.

It up scales, which is technically not TRUE 1080, as apose to cameras like Panasonic DVX 200 which tapes 1080p. The JVC shoots in 720, than up scales, If I'm remember correctly.

You can achieve true 1080 on this camera. It records to 720 and is brought into your NLE System as 720. But, You can use the HD SDI to achieve True 1080 or if you have a HDV VTR, you can bring it into your NLE System as 1080.

Are you sure its true 1080? Last time I checked it was an up scaled version, like I said though, I could be wrong.

It can do 1080i which is lame, don't do interlace its not worth it.. the NEW jvc does do 1080p :)

but i do 720p

interlace is lame.

you mean HVX? that also doesnt tape...uses P2 cards for dvcpro hd

No I mean DVX just like I said. And yes the DVX does use P2, the JVC does not. How ever the JVC with a new expansion can use the new Sony S x S cards - And JVC are releasing their own new cheap non-tape format soon.

Whattt DVX dont use P2 cards.....I own a HVX.....they upscale in camera also. The image censors don't record in 1080 natively.

DVX use tapes and are standard def. I think you are getting confused with the HVX which is kinda like the HD version of the DVX.

No auto-focus... its a real lens and most higher end lens dont have auto focus.

i have heard a lot of bad things about this lens, but you know what i have used very high-end cameras and for 5k this lens is amazing. but you have to get used to it ;)

This shoot was using a lowel 500watt light.

That is a cheap light and its all about where you place that light. BUT i was also out side in a BIG back yard at night so that helped :)

lighting is about experimenting, but you are not a lazy douchebag... asking questions and seeing what others do is the BEST way to learn!! :)
