Karen, that 4"11 person was ME>>lol..you silly lady...oh and sometimes when you think its hunger it might mean that you need something to drink...just a reminder..love your videos...love rosemary (thanks)
work on that chewing now cause I am 5 yrs. out and I still don't chew good it will get stuck and hurts so bad...hope you do better then me...love ya...love rosemary
It's normal to be scared, but just think of the rewards you will have when you are thinner and healthier. Nothing taste as good as thin feels. And your new stomach will help you get there. Good Luck.
Oh I TOTALLY agree with the whole... eat slow and chew alot. It is painful if you don't. You are doing FANTASTIC Karen! I'm so happy for you. All of the feelings that you're going through is SO normal for VSG'ers. But you're getting through it beautifully. All of the lessons that we have to learn are hard lessons. It's like teaching an old dog new tricks. We have to totally retrain ourselves. Keep up the great work hun.
Thanks. I love my sleeve so far. I just wish I'd lose some weight. I'm back at 311 again...about where I was pre-surgery over 2 weeks ago and I am in ketosis. You'd think the scale would show it. My clothes still fit the same.
haha, I actually read when I'm by myself and put down my fork in between bites. The chewing goes on forever, cause food that gets stuck does not feel good. :-)
Yep, chew, chew, chew....otherwise you feel it sit right at the opening to the stomach and you just hope it goes in. It certainly is a new way to learn to eat and takes some time to get used to it.
I agree with "SarahWillBeSkinny", thankfully my mom & I start talking so it distracts me & makes me pace myself.
I don't get the naseua but do feel disgusted with food when I feel fool, wish I could vomit & actually refuse to eat my next meal if I still feel fool.
In the 2nd month you will notice that you will be able to eat up to 1 cup. So just as long as you chew properly & pay attention to your body everything will be ok.
I am feeling hunger too. It is tolerable and very mild. But it is real and not "head hunger". I think it is good too or I could go all day without eating and I find it takes eating frequently to get all the protein in .
YES I agree, I can already tell what time it is when I feel hungry & just say out loud "It's time to have a little something". Cause just like you I would probably go a long time with out eatting.
And I'm so glad my stomach is small such that I can't over eat like I'd like to do. My eyes haven't shrunk yet as they are still bigger than my stomach. :)
The hunger is like feeling normal but in a very very mild way. When I was on my liquid pre-op diet, I was soooo hungry all the time. This tiny bit of hunger just reminds me it's time to eat but isn't a bother if I have to postpone my lunch for an hour or two. Love it.
I'm scheduled for surgery 5/28!!! One question. My surgeon says 2oz. of Pureed/Blenderized food 3x per day. That's 6 oz total for the day, For the first month. How many ounces are you eating per day?
WOW this is a good question. I have been noticing here on YouTube that really it all depends on the doctor & nutritionist that you have. My 1st month was liquid diet, now my 2nd month is pureed diet, & next month my 3rd month will be solids.
There certainally is a large range of diets from the different doctors. If you haven't already, speak to a Dietician (they are licensed), Nutritionists are not licensed. You want to make sure you get enough protein.
I am probably eating 4 - 6 oz at each meal. I'm getting about 700-800 calories and 80 gm of protein per day. That seems pretty strict but I'm sure your doctor has a plan that will work. You may want to ask him about how much protein you should get. Are you going to be having protein drinks too? If not, I'd certainally question it cuz you don't need to be losing muscle. I am losing next to nothing as far as weight goes right now, so maybe that will be the trick.
Yes, the diet includes 2 protein shakes a day. Total of 70 grams of protein. I just don't understand why there is such a wide difference in each doctors diets for the first couple of months. You would think there is a standard. Geez, I hope I don't starve.
I know what you mean. The doctors diet plans are on opposite ends of the spectrum and everything in between. I don't think you will starve as you won't be hungry. :)
When I eat, I feel like a 3 yr old. If you HAVE to get up from the table and walk away in between bites, do it. Keep yourself occupied, and not so focused on the meal. It WILL get easier... I promise! :)
Thanks for the video. Im two weeks out from revision to vsg. This really helps.

I used to be the first one done with my meal, now I take the smallest portioh and I'm the last one done. The chewing slows me down - thank goodness.

You are looking and sounding great! I am proud of you for not using the scale as your only measure of success.
I am hoping for a quick recovery, feeling good after 2 weeks as you are - I'm expecting to be back at work in 2 weeks after my wls.
Thanks for the phrase, "it's not about being full, it's about being satisfied."
Keep up the good work!

Yep, that's what the doc said...I'll be able to eat about a cup at a time. It actually feels good not to gorge myself all the time.
