not close to 40 lbs... sorry but i caught one yesterday about the same size or a tad bigger by the looks of yours and it was in the 30 lb range. But good fighters for 30 lbs... but as said, definately not 40.
i catch fish bigger than that at rouge river toronto, pretty much verytime go, ive caught 35 - 40 pounders regularly and the biggest i weighed was 55 pounds, its a big fish but not the biggest in ontario
@DrawnUnderBand hey man. you mind sharing exactly where you catch those monsters? I'm after a 30+ this summer and been getting lots of 10 - 20 but nothing bigger. PM me if you want. Cheers.
actually this is far from a record there was a kid last year who cought a 50 pounder weighed on a scale in a pond or something on the toronto islands. saw a picture twice the size of this fish none the less nice fish where and when did you catch it and what were you using for bait ohh right and float fishing or bottom fishing?

I caught a carp that was around 50lbs, and measured 48inches long... you don't have a record carp, I could go out in a month, fish for a day and catch 10 carp out of Lake Ontario 40+lbs. The smallest carp I ever caught was 38inches in length and I didn't bother to weight it, probably was 25lbs. People don't care about carp records because carp get massive and there are millions of giants in Ontario alone.
@pilatunes Worms are fine to use, they aren't picky fish. I like using dough baits though because no other fish touch the bait, I think its uncle bens dough bait I use or something that sounds like that (white and blue container). I mean you do get the occasional catfish with dough baits, but they are the most reliable IMO.
@Dwq47 Thanks. And you are right about the big carp in Lake Ontario. I've seen immense freaking carp in a bunch of different places. The biggest was down in Picton Bay. I've seen salmon weighted that were 45 lbs, and one carp in particular I saw easily exceeded that. It was about the same length, but about half again as deep and half again as wide. My best guess was 55-60.
@pilatunes carp fishing- the best kept secret. They get huge, live long, and they have no predators. I like fishing at Fair Haven, about 30mins from Syracuse in this channel that connects a pretty big shallow pond. They fight like crazy, and I keep buying thicker hooks bc they are bending them straight out!!! I need a rail road spike and to bend it into a hook lol. I don't mess around I use 50lb fishing line, if you use 20lbs you really have to tire them out, I was scared they'd break the line.

@Dwq47 hey what do you think of carp fishing right now where would they be? im going today down at guelph lake cause i dont have my trout gear at home what would recomend me doing?
@o68802735 I've never gone out this early, usually around May 29th, but I would say shallow waters. Im not familiar with Guelph Lake, but try finding a canal that leads to a smaller pond and fish there or a large part of shallow water that gets heated up quick.
sorry dude, this is not a 40 lb carp. do a little research and you will see your scale is out of whack. how did you weigh him? i doubt you have a weigh sling and you cannot hoist a 40lb carp through the gills. it will not support the weight. but you think what you want.
Definitely not the largest carp ever caught in Ontario. You should change the title of this video as it is misleading. I know a number of carp anglers in Ontario who have caught carp over 40lb.
holy shit nice those carp are strong fighters just yesterday one of my friends hooked a carp and it was huge and just 2 yards from from the shore the carp snapped the 50 lb test spiderwire i was so pissed but anyway great video keep it up

@gasserized beauty? fuck that!! Carp are getting over populated. they can go die for all i care. they piss me off. i cought one the other day and it made me mad.
@flybenji Noooo, are you kidding? Actually, I can believe it. A firend used to work at the steel mills in Hamilton and some of the carp used to get killed in the shallows nearby. The staff weighed some of the bigger ones and the biggest was close to yours....60 Lbs I think.
Its about 28-33lb It isnt 40lb. I know im no one to you but i know what im talking about and i know what im seeing and its a high 20, maybe low 30 and never over 35.

You have to remember that carp were introduced to Canadian waters and out compete native sport fish. In Hamilton a fish way was created just to remove carp from Cootes paradise as the native species were almost wiped out. They are not held in the same regard here as they are in Europe and they never will be. I'm not advocating killing them for the sake of it but I'm sure if someone introduced a fish species to European waters that affected carp population, you'd probably kill them too.
