If you go and LISTEN to the minutes leading up to and the minutes after the comment, he clarifies that the man did not even serve in Iraq, that he was found to have lied to the VA over PTSD, and that he hadn't seen one minute of combat. I can't believe what this grown man, a senator for crying out loud, is spewing. If you go and LISTEN to the minutes leading up to and the minutes after the comment, he clarifies that the man did not even serve in Iraq, that he was found to have lied to the VA over PTSD, and that he hadn't seen one minute of combat. I don't agree with a lot of things he says, I just hate to see conservative pundits vilified when they don't deserve it. Sometimes they do, but in this case, Rush was clearly taken out of context, and the libs who opposed him picked the "phony soldiers" phrase our of context and ran with it because it was convenient for them. Rush has also raised (and continues to raise) a substantial amount of money for troops and their families. Am I a rush fan? No. Was Rush wrong in this case? No.

Just curious itfreq51A.... what makes us believe that you are an actual soldier or that you have bee in Iraq? I personally DO KNOW a dozen or more soldiers who have had already 2 tours, and they do NOT share your comments.

Rush Limbaugh never used the term "phony soldiers" to describe members of the military who disagree with him. This is a straw man that Harry Reid has set up and knocked over. Harry Reid is either a liar or ignorant. Or perhaps he was misled by the CIA. He is for sure embarrassing to his home state.

I would be interested in knowing were Reid's supporters were when he was condemning the military? Where were they when his comments increased the risk to their lives? Most likely, they were happy the military was out there protecting their rights to display their stupidity!

How can you possibly think the military loves conservatives? Do you have any idea the hardship being placed upon us and our families? Those soldiers that called in were probably Marines, and had 30 pt waivers on their ASVABS.

I'm not sure how others in uniform feel, but I tend to ignore Washington. I simply treat it like a job, soldiers/sailors/airmen who feel as though they are doing anything extraordinary need to get over themsevles.

The mere fact that we're over there is demoralizing. The fact that I'm chastised for my lack of support for the IRAQ war (not Afgan) after serving demoralizes me. Yet conservatives will come out of the woodwork to claim I'm unpatriotic, while I still am in uniform. Makes me sick
