I have always wanted to know how to fight. I am 35 YO and a big wimp really. If there was some way to get rid of the wimp inside and put a man in his place please let me know..
Good stuff. You know your shit. From my experience stopping the attacker like that is great. But personally I say don't let the fucker step within three feet of you if he looks like he's up to something. Once he passes that three feet rule, step in with all your weight and hit him before he has a chance to hit you. Don't let him even get set to swing. This has saved my ass a couple of times. Over all great vid. I'm subscribing.

Yeah, one of us definitely needs to "think before posting."
Now back to the point at hand, you wrote something disparaging about the applications shown in this video so I'll ask for a second time "what do you actually recommend?".
Do you know what a "Walt" is? Look it up before you "pack your kevlar". Tit.
@bws800115 Why would someone that knows how to fight want to throw a first punch at anyone? If you know how to fight then you know that there are a hell of a lot of people out there capable of hurting you back in numerous ways that you won't have time or luck to avoid. You also know that one blow can kill. I think you over estimate the level of skill and intelligence of the average late night High Street moron that chooses to start a fight with a stranger rather than go home and eat biscuits.
I love the video and then I read down the comments and have to laugh at the web warriors' advice. There are those of us that appreciate your wealth of first hand findings and research but where would we be without Bad Boys educating us that 'reinforcing the target' isn't a great option? And Allah... with his amazing advice to people with (sorry Richie) 'real jobs', families and no time; that they need to take 10 years out to study before attempting to block the next drunk that swings at them.

Interesting concept, wing chun uses a similar approach to the last move when they describe forward energy. However, in Kali, the real acid test would be to put a knife in the attackers hand and see, which, if any of these moves work. I think, we take too many liberties in what, we consider "reality based self defense." With a small knife that last move would be close to my carotid artery. I prefer to avoid consequential damage moves and check the attackers hand while striking the attacker.
HAHA THIS IS NOT GONNA HELP YOU....you need years of training to actually know what you are doing in a fighting situaiton. remember, always avoid a fight if it can be resolved with words
Hey man, sorry, but 0:24 is horrible. You can´t see your oponnent, your hands are in front of your eyes and they are so badly behind. You can´t start striking.. Your hands are hight and what your body? Someone punch you and he will be waiting for your strike? No.. You don´t have to fight with PRO MMA fighter - every dude can kicks you to the balls ;)
@letmeloginyoucunt hello "let me log in you cunt" lady... I recommend grabbing the hands holding your hair so it cant get pulled out by the roots, stepping in to where the person is grabbing from whilst turning to face them.... then... karate chop them in the neck or something
@letmeloginyoucunt I've been in encounters where people yank on my hair and usually I just gritted my teeth and dealt with it. I wish I had the fight awareness I do now though. If someone's hands are attached to your hair there are a few good things that you can capitalize on. One of the best is that her hands are tied up with tugging on you, not defending herself. If you can turn in and close distance it's an all you can eat buffet of weak point you can strike at.
Good job man I really like your explanations. it's too bad some Jerk offs like to debate shit they know nothing about, they get lost in there own thought. but when your getting beat in the face, your not going to walk away untouched, its inevitable and you are explaining that point in your lesson. good job brotha.
if he is faster and he threw his punch first than your gonna get it. i would rather stick with dodging or blocking. and they could be throwing haymakers 1 after another not saying your move wont work cause it looks lik it kind of do but its kinda too fancy for me
I love this man, its interception, its attacking and defending at the same time, not defending then attacking, because by that time you've blocked his attack he has now got enough time to block yours. Love it
Ok this might be good advice, but if you really want to learn this you should practice it over and over again, otherwise you will never be able to use this as selfdefense...
Great work Richie! Reminds me of Krav Maga . From my experience, the difficulty lies in getting rid of the basic "freeze up, clench, duck" reaction most untrained people have in a confrontation situation and replacing it with an "open up, go forth" reflex. Of course that change of posture goes along with a change of attitude : it reflects the fact that you, literally , face the situation and flight to the front.
haha clever stuff :D i remember about 2 years ago i did this by accident when this random kid wanted a fight, i just instinctively reacted like this as he threw the punch, my hand smacked him on the chin and he dropped :) never been so surprised in my life xD
why dont we keep things simple??????Block the haymaker with your left hand-knife hand- AND AT THE SAME TIME counter with the right CROSS on the chin and if he s not lights out...

Some of his stuff is good. However, working off the premise of "deflecting" or any type of stop punching (a la "blocking" call it whatever you want) an attack is deeply flawed. Action WILL always beat reaction.
If that lad had thrown in that cross with speed you 'aint blocking it - your eating it. This is what happens when you train with compliancy. Change that to full contact and you'll see what happens.
@streetfightsecrets and at the end of the day you CAN block or deflect or dodge an attack so saying "oo if its full contact your eating it" is just bullshit, try sparring every once in a while, take you about... oh... say 30 seconds to realise that just because someone is REALLY trying to hit you doesnt mean they will... if you are REALLY trying to not be it

@bws800115 advice for "faking it" online:
1. dont claim to be a "close protection team leader" for a company that doesnt exist anymore. Its now called "Xe", look it up.
2. dont have an online handle that can be easily googled and reveals you are Serbian, "greystone"? Maybe.
3. Dont have a handle that reveals you to be a Systema practitioner
4. Dont claim elsewhere online to have ALSO been a biker for the last 12 years.
5. Dont piss and moan and posture like an adolescent.
