hey i have some questions! how do you connect your guitar to the kaoss pad? better yet can you explain all the connections from the guitar to the amplifier?
the amplifier needs to have a midi jack connection??
What did you used to create the sustainer? When you play at the same time with the Roland hexaphonic pick up and the X-Y pad, you plug-in at the guitar just the two pin connector?
hey, do you think its worth just moding an okayish guitar with similar kind of stuff that you have, or do you think its better to buy a pro guitar then mod that?
@SmallFish616: The better the guitar you start off with the better the end sound, but as a first time I wasn't comfortable spending say £500 in a guitar that I could possibly ruin by cutting into or not finishing the project. The sustainer has a great sound though and this is the cheapest tele I could buy. Just make sure you have enough room after the bridge to put in the kaoss pad. Tele's, strats and les paul customs are great hosts.
Is it possible to use the Fernandes sustainer driver as a pickup and sustainer at the same time (think one humbucker guitar with the sustainer only)? I've heard all kinds of things about it and can't seem to get a straight answer.
@davidcrm2: It's very complicated, the x-y pad doesn't actually create any sound it just connects to a midi socket. The roland synth comes out of both its own 13 pin socket and the jack and so is connected to the jack, The pickups both go to the sustainer circuit board then to the jack.
@MightyLemur: The kaoss pad is external, the x-y pad goes to a midi controller inside the guitar which cables to the kaoss pad. There is no need to alter the kaoss pad with this set up.
@greenmusedayvideos: eBay. took me ages to get hold of one, the pad is avaliable from korg spares for £30 but it's the midi controller that is a custom build from some guy on eBay
The third knob along is a rotary controller which combined with the midi controller changes the effects on the kaoss pad, also if you click it down it will then control a digitech whammy
@muse03 : it cost about £700 but thats without the cost of the whammy and the kaoss pad which were about £110 each and the synth pedal which was more like £300. so yeah, not cheap

awesome set up :) just so I can get a decent idea, about how much did the equipment(minus the guitar) cost? not including tools or labor or anything

@TVRobot1: I don't think so because the sustainer uses the back pickup to boost the signal as far as I'm aware.

does both the sustainer and xy pad run off the same battery?
TheYubaYuba 11 months ago
@TheYubaYuba: No but the x-y pad doesn't take up much battery I think it's the LED that does.
