I've always been more of a Groucho type with the wordplay and the patter jokes (which is either a hit on dates or goes over like a fart in church, a good thing in either instance since in the latter case it saves me a lot of frustration!), but I wish I could play the piano like Chico!
Heehee. I remember seeing Chico play for the first time: I was going, "He's not really playing that...is he." And then it eventually sinks in: "Is he?? Holy crap...." Same thing with Harpo. 8-o
What a lot of fun to watch.....I haven't seen this movie in years...had totally forgotten that this classic 1920's song was featured in this comedy gem. THANKS so much for sharing! :)
@AmericanPowerBase I've read several books on the Marx Brothers, including Groucho's letters and a bio on him, and I've seen most of the interviews he did, and I'd never heard of either him playing the violin or taking karate. What is your source for that?
The Marx Brothers were truly unique. Blossoms from the gardens of NYC who followed their dreams, and they had the talent to take them to the heights. Bravo.
I was on skype with a client and her 3 year old girl was crying and yelling- I sent her this link and the girl calmed down instantly. True story, minutes ago.
no, but Harpo was. Chico took lessons and was supposed to teach Harpo everything that he was taught. Chico wasn't a very good student though (ironically enough) and Harpo only learned two songs from Chico.
My dad showed me this movie when i was 8 and just starting on the drums. This scene absolutely grabbed my attention. I,m 22 now i produce my own stuff and when i see this..... fucking flawless. Chico is a master and a showmen. Is there anyone else like him?

Meh, Harpo could still harp anyone into a coma.
He'd take Groucho out.
