Poor comment, very poor comment. Is Capt. Sullenberger still working? Yes. Its your duty as a pilot to fly the aircraft and follow procedure in the event of an emergency.
Ive been on that plan and with that pilot many time working out on san nick . that landing was easy for him.You should be on that bad bow when he ls landing in 80 mph cross wind gusts out on the island . Change of undies where a must to pack i tell ya.
Belly landings, wheels up. Kind of routine are they not? Does anyone even spill their coffee? There are heaps of these landings on You Tube. Cliches, really great skilled pilot, nobody even a scratch. Any pilot worth his salt that can land on wheels can land on the belly.
Plane comes in slow, there are a few sparks, plane stops. Every one says "wow" what a really great pilot he was. Ho Hum......
His left engine didn't fail. What you saw was the pilots feathering the props. They feathered the props so when the side the gear was damaged in fell sideways, the prop itself would not be to damaged.
Wow, thanks for the grammar lesson, kjp. You're right... it's "you're," as in YOU'RE a douche bag. Can I go for a ride in the A380 you don't own? "Lame poor people..." Piss off.

Ha, I must admit I did laugh a little about the whole "YOU'RE a douchbag" thing - sounds like something I would have said. And please, feel free to ride on any A380 I don't own - hell, make it any airplane I don't own - just call your travel agent, dipshit.
Those guys are pros. Round of applause. I reminds me of a similar incident in Oklahoma City with a Beech B200 King Air that had a left landing gear stuck.
Amazing skill - I hope to be this good at the end of my aviation career.

False, it's just for avoiding engine strike and burn, prop will be replaced anyway, as the wing too !
lothar2048 3 years ago
Ok, that is what he said... It is true that they feather the prop so no damage is envoked on the engine

who even flies a G-1 anyway? lame poor people - that's who! Left engine shut down because they probably couldn't afford the gas.
kjp45 4 years ago
Incredible. that pilot probably saved about $300K worth of repairs by shutting down the left engine before touchdown.
