THIS IS THE REAL TALENT!! voice and dance and rythm. these guys really know what they´re doing. not like some other groups I´ve seen before like Menudo or Dominó
The first lady who echoed back yeah yeah pulled back, she was shy frm mike" second was a lil kid and he did the best yeah echo, this was this racist judgemental snobby man'he did the worst
Love when Michael can't hold himself back any longer and has to break free from the choreography. His brothers don't know what to do with themselves when MJ starts improvising.
WHY DID I MISS THIS ERA!!??!??!?!? I really want to be a performer like Michael...and I promise to those people who hate this music era that I will try my hardest to bring it back!!!!!!
@7MJKingOfPop7 - If you really want to perform similar to Michael Jackson you will have to study the masters like he did. Michael knew Marcel Marceau, James Brown, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Marlon Brando, Jackie Wilson, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross etc.... You have your work cut out for you. Good luck if you are truly serious. Plus Michael worked with Motown with Berry Gordy.
I remember watching this as it was onTV back inthe day..We knew the Jackson5 were gonna be onthe show the fanmags and althe black plubications had said so asthe J5 was anniunced It begun- my stepsisters were passing out on the floor screaming at the brothers My mom came and stood in front of the tv and I thought my sisters were gonna hit her they were so mad lol she then joined us and watched it with us,If you missed the J-5 days back then .You missed the most exciting times ever in music
@Mspendragon1972 I really don't know what you were listening to. Of course their mikes were on. You CAN hear them. Jackie, Marlon, Tito & Randy sung background vocals, & Jermaine, Randy & Tito were the groups musicians. So when you say "were never developed" HOW exactly do you mean?
Wow i remember watching this when i was 17 all day long just to see them perform Jerry Lewis waited to almost at the end of the Telethon to bring them on.
Okay all you fakers who think you need plastic surgery.... YOU DO NOT NEED AN "AFTER" PHOTO. Don't get your nose changed. It is perfect as-is. That's all that needs to be said about it.
OMGoodness this is way to colorful for such a white audience. When Mike approached the audience to sing in the mic one person jolts back like he was being robbed, other than that no movement, but I guess when Michaels on stage no else needs to be dancing, He's amazing to watch all of them are overflowing with talent,
Michael Jackson was a BEEEEAAAAUUUTIFUL BLACK MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is soooooo very sad too me that he felt the need to change himself to look like what the world says is right: White. He was coco, honey, lovely brown with his kinky damn hair and his wide nose. The way that he looked in his last days can NEVER compare to how he looked in this video. Will ALWAYS love the EARLY you baby.
@creativeeducator1 well me on the other hand, could care less how he looked, i never stoped liking michael because of the way he looked, i didint care, what i cared is what he did and how he was and his talent. michael was always beautiful outside and especially inside
@creativeeducator1 Mj was 16 here he was 50 when he died ..What 50 year old look like hey did whe nthey were 16 .Tour statement is stupid MJ didnt do anything to try and look white Changing your nose and adding a cleft in chin doesnt make a black man look white Mj had vitiligo he couldnt help that he lost the dark pigmentation of his skin. You need to get eduacted about what vitiligo is Its a skin disorder. Many blacks inthe bizhad afros but turned to straight hair later (see Prince)
all eyes were always on michael he had that it factor and really his brothers were just background cus michael stole the show every time look at him, so much energy he lived for this literally
Jerry Lewis seemed to really enjoy it. You see him dancing toward the stage at the end. The great Jerry Lewis and the great Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson. Who knew this would be an historic night?
lmao i hope janet wasn't there, jerry lewis might've tried n married her lol j/p, i didn't know they did one of his telethons, and i didnt even know jerry lewis had been doing the this long
When I think of how talented Michael has always been.
Here he is 15 or 16 putting such a great performance with so much energy and I think of the the teen so-called stars of today like Miley Cyrus < Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers.......he had more talent in his little finger than all of them combined. How lucky we were to witness his talent when he was alive and sorely he is missed.
@tgeighties Sorry but I don't think you can really compare Michael with those others you mention. He was unique. It's like comparing apples to oranges. He was great all round - singing , dancing, composing, choreography. That's a one off. But that doesn't mean that Taylor and Miley and the jonas brother's aren't good too, just different and not so widely talented.
Ehm... In fact, Jerry goes to the stage dancing... Can't you see the tasty shoulder movement? XD... If he looks stumped, it might be because of the good the show was...
I LOVE this performance! Mainly because Michael looks drop dead gorgeous here AND because he kicks major ass with that robot...every time he does it, he gets better and more robotic and it flows easier. Those suits are pretty killer, too. =)
Michael jackson was awesome before he felt as if he had to make himself into something he wasn't. I think much of the blame goes to the notorious Joe Jackson.
michael always was great & never faltered..this is one of their best live performances of dancing machine..i love their belts!..the guys' dancing at the end is awesome
Lol! I love how the kid was the only one who was game to sing into the mic, no wonder he preferred to hang kids than adults, kids are way more fun and carefree.

It's so great that YouTube is available to people, so we can find old footage like this Telethon appearance.
Thanks very much for being considerate enough to post this in a timely way, MDA.
Jerry looks really good.
By the way. I finished Jerry's book about him and Dean 9 days ago. What a beautiful and thought-filled look back at an amazing friendship.
Very well written and thought out.
I had fun viewing some old Martin & Lewis footage on YT.
Surely, Dino is welcoming Michael right now.
