  • so simple and so true, yet people don't seem to understand

  • glen hansard!

  • ATTN PEOPLE as you can probably see jack doesnt look like he enjoys interviews, hes better at singing his point of view over. I understand what hes trying to say, hes just not getting his point over clear. i agree just listen to his music. He does nothing bad this man hes helping this world, people need to appreciate people like him more rather than critizing him all the time..... just think of this- he doesnt use sex drugs or alcohol to make his music xoxoxo ciao ciao

  • the songs called headin home by jack j and donavon frankenreiter

  • what song is playing

  • its called headin home by jack and donavon frankenreiter

  • @newmankevin44 honestly, you're stupid. Not only did that political statement make no sense, but Green Day fucking blows, always have and always will. And no, writing the theme songs for Transformers 2/ Simpsons Movie isn't 'growing up' it's holding on for dear life because you know how badly you suck. Don't write back, you have no credibility.

  • Jack Johnson is so much better than all this lame stuff we hear on the radio and stuff. I wish they'd play his music on the radio's where I lived.

  • Btw that's freaking glen hansard on his side

Awesome!! Where was I when all these amazing people got together

  • To mr NewmanKevin44

He prolly is just saying you shouldint change 'cause you feel you have to cause you've gotten big and need to change. And btw greenday lost it... As if they ever had it.

    They suck balls.

A matter of fact i don't think they did any good in music. Who's minds did they open? They arnt insightful.

  • oh and as for the bands that change like green day. what's wrong with finally growing up and seeing the world for what it is and wanting to change it and write a song about it. what's wrong with waking up huh jack? it seems you just like to sleep through the static.

  • so who are we supposed listen to politicians? cause that's there game but they keep messing it up. how about the news it's there job to criticize the politicians but they are owned by the corporations who are funded by the banks. i would rather trust another human being with a guitar and no agenda. even if they know nothing about politics like jack johnson. i think it's the artists job to open up our minds and change/question the ways we think and feel. so start doing the rest of your job jack.

  • *AWESOME sorry..

  • haha!! this is AWEOSME!! he is so right :) cant wait to see him in AZ again

  • to be honest though, you cant control how your views change and if you feel strongly enough about them you cant help but pour it out. I dont think a band should purposely try to stick to their game, rather just let the game play its self out. You cant control music from the heart & if you try to, your only doing yourself a dishonesty.

  • What the man is simply saying here is that when you start a music genre, try and make sure you finish it the same way. Why? because check out bands like green day, red hot chili peppers, my chemical romance, and the list goes on. We listened to these bands for a reason, then when they change it it's kinda like... huh? So for instance lets say you played a few different genres of music in one the first time around you should continue it that way.

  • Green Day should watch this. Remember when it was about rock and roll and sleeping with hookers and now its just... well politics and war, fun stuff.

  • there's always been political stuff in music, as long as there's been people who have been disillusioned with whats going on in the world around them. the hookers and blow stuff usually went hand in hand with that, and it still goes down, people just got bored with it because how many joe somebodies get to go do coke off a thai lady boys ass crack, its just too hard to relate to

  • paramecium your statement makes no sense.

Didnt you understand what he said?

  • And it is his responsibility to decide others responsibilities?

  • Wicked!

An american and a popstar who makes sense :)

  • Mars Volta!

  • is that glen hansard on the left!!

  • yeah i think so too!

  • donovan

  • thank god for jack johnson.

there is a list about a mile long of musicians and actors who need to take these words under consideration.

the thing that baffles me the most is that we listen to these people's political opinions as if they were harvard graduates and the nation's foremost experts on politics. they're just people, alot of whom are less intelligent and more irresponsible than most average joes, so i dont know why i need to hear their opinions on the nightly news.

  • your comment is rather two-faced. you start off supporting his opinion on what other people do... and then say why should we listen to these peoples opinions?

the thing that is so great about music is that it makes you think. the message can often times be very vague so it can have different meanings for different people. just because they aren't "harvard graduates" doesn't mean you can't either learn something or think about something differently. just my two cents.

  • @MikeMFMiller agree about everything exept most of the people who are famous are more intelligent than the average human. Almost everyone, because it's a rough game to be famous and if one is not clever enough, he usually gets bumped by an other one. And don,t come up with examples like paris hilton, or any other american sluts, cause they're just some that are wise enough to make believe they are idiot, so they can make the money.

  • Ummm... He's right and you're wrong look at him he stayed with his thing and he keeps staying with his thing and is a multi-millionare who is happy and never made a song to sell out. Change if you suck if you're doing your thing and doing a good job at it stick with it.

  • Bands like a regular person has the right to change, people grow and mature, the same with bands they mature.

  • true, but it seemed like what he was talking about was changing as a result of or (even worse) for the purpose of getting big. in other words, don't sell out.

  • i'm doing a project on jack johnson for my humanities class and i would like to use clips from this interview to show the class..is there a way that you could send me this video? (i dont have time to bother switching around the format for a youtube video in order for it to be on my computer and use it) thank you :]

  • ::RaweGenarenah:: is right, yeah! singers song are a reflection of themselves it's just telling a storey with a beet. ::kenziegunn:: did you listen to what he said,You know how you WORK for a living, if u do at all, Well it's like if your good a fixing TV's, & you have done it all you life don't go and be a pilot. So if you sing about, Sing-A-Longs And Lullabies don't go singing ROCK / RAP-ex congrats jack oh and thanks for ""better together""&""Do You Remenber

  • Talking about how people should express themselves is sort of a Danger-zone really.

Music should be reflecting your personality

which, ofcourse, shifts depending on your mood or your thoughts.

I like Jack Johnson's music, but i didn't think he wrote it only because he thinks it's his responsibility to make me like it. Makes it kinda boring doesn't it?

  • he is my hero

  • same

  • same, i love jack johnson

  • August 3rd im seeing him !!!!!

  • I disagree completely. Everything, whether it's a tv show, a person, or a band should have room for growth.

  • They should have room for growth... but, in their genre or area of specialty, as Jack was saying. He was not saying people shouldn't have room for growth. He was promoting growth, but in the same area the artist was responsible for becoming famous or popular by. I think you must have misunderstood him, with all respect.

  • amen brother.....i love you!!

  • I always leave asshole comments...so i'll take Jack's advice and stick to my game.

    You're all ass clowns.

  • lol you are an asshole

  • altho i agree with what he's saying, about everyoen suddenly turning emo or political becasue its popular. I've never seen why JJ is so great. he seems like every other poppish folk rock artist to me. I admit it, the only reason i clicked on it is because the description sayed 'the mars volta'

  • Listening to Jack Johnson is like drinking a glass of warm milk when you're taking a bath.

  • well that was a waste of time...

  • contradiction lol

  • You're the ONE! love ya!

cant wait to see u again here in Portugal! =D

    Hasta june!

  • Yeah, see you here in 26 june jack! =D

  • JJ is the man

  • i completely disagree

  • just an observation guys, don't take it so seriously.

  • He's the best artist of my generation

  • I'm a huge fan of Jack's, but he kind of contradicts himself during this by saying "he tries to do a little of each" when he says a musician should stick to one thing.

  • He said he has always tried to do a little of each. So not really, but nice try. Jack knows what he is talking about.

  • Just leave him alone and listen to his songs

That's the best u can do

  • love him

  • The mans a god

Whats the song called in the background???

  • "Heading Home"- Donovan Frankenreiter

  • its actually a duet with jack as well

  • hoe heet dit liedje
