@Vicbartender1990 It's a hallmark of Allesandro and the Duke's Hotel to use only frozen glasses, often frozen spirits, no ice, no dilution. The ingredients mix naturally in the glass upon pouring (hence smaller quantity ingredients first that will be washed into mixing by the larger amount spirits).
Having spent an afternoon with Alessandro going through his Masterclass, I can safely say what an outstanding barman he is, combining years of experience and knowledge with the passion of a true leader in his field.
If you can't do the Masterclass, at least let him make you a martini -- the Dukes way -- neither shaken nor stirred, just ice cold and with a delivery like a brick through a plate-glass window.
Went to the Dukes Bar last night and ordered a Vesper Martini. It was beautifully crafted in front of me (just as expertly as in the video) and without any doubt it was the best I've ever had. Thank you Alessandro.
For all German speakers: Wirklich der beste Vesper Martini den man in London, vielleicht sogar weltweit, bekommen kann!
What a gentleman. Alessandro, Alex, and the rest of the bar staff are the last of a dying breed. Their stories and the detail they put into every drink are remarkable. If you are in London this is THE PLACE to visit o get a glimpse into what we are missing in the go, go, go World of today...slow down, have a drink, enjoy the evening. Thanks for a great couple evenings.
Once you enter, meet Alessandro, let him serve you the best Martini in London, you feel like you are James Bond for the rest of the night. Thank you Alessandro, as always,,,,.
I might be mistaken , but mixing two such similar spirits doesn't require to stirr or shake. Shake it and you'll bruise your drink. Bond only asks like that because he likes to cause a scene. The bartender goes "What the hell? Shake a Martini? This guy is crazy" etc...
It's a shame crown jewel isn't in production anymore. I think he used no.03 gin when I was there last time

I guess all the mixing glasses were being washed the day the cameras came.

Shouldn't he do it with a shaker?

As a regular visitor to the Duke's bar, I have to say that I have never had a better Vesper than that made by Alessandro and his team.

The man has steady hands like a surgeon and hips like a rock star. A Dukes martini is good medicine and quite frankly the best I have ever had.

He forgot to demonstrate, but shaking or stirring usually occurs before adding the lemon/orange peel.
