This is a great cartoon along with others like tin tin. 80's and 90's cartoons were more educational and fun back then. Now they are chessy and ain't got much humor in them.
I have to agree with Viperzx300 - Cartoons today are all from the same 2-3 studios, like Pixar, and recycle the exact-same looks, characters, settings, and audio styles. What Disney doesn't make, Japanamation does, as is proven by the 500 pokemon versions and yu-gi-oh everything.
Looney Tunes featured Mel Blanc, probably THE best voice actor of all time, and slapstick humor that wasn't afraid to have elmer fudd tote his blunderbuss in the name of humor.
Classic toons are identified by their ability to retain humor regardless of one's age -- Duckula is exemplary. Music, literacy, layers. This is brilliant.
OMG I miss 80's cartoons. This brings back so many memories. Thanks for posting this. Today's cartoons are all basically japamation and today's cartoons don't compete with looney tunes, and anything in the 80's.
this was my FAVORITE cartoon when I was a kid...I hate what times have done to children's shows...and it's not like this was that long ago...i'm only 23!
This show expanded my vocabulary as a kid. A fine example of how cartoons should be, real humor and real language. None of this tinky-winky bullshit going on now.
What I liked so much about this series is that nanny and Igor act like mum an dad to Duckula's spoilt child. I can't have been the only one who noticed this! Those bumbling kidnappers were classic characters too, love the voices!
Damn....i used to get up early in the morning just to watch this. This cartoon was the shit! Damn i miss cartoons like this....they need to bring em back! WORD!

@Granitoons I think it was just part of the joke, haha.

Great animation, haha, it's so old and cheap, too. You don't find this kind of humor in kid's shows anymore.

"Oh dear, we sent the ransom note too early!"
"It wouldn't be cricket."
"Crickets? What do crickets have to do with this?"
I loved this show as a kid when they showed it on Nickelodeon, and it's just as entertaining as an adult.

I forgot how unique this show was. Its certainly odd. I agree that it looks to have directly inspired the character designs of Darkwing Duck.
Very strange trip.

This is probably where Darkwing Duck came from and evolved.
devileaterinthahowse 4 years ago
...Darkwing Duck was a direct spinoff of Ducktales, it even used some of the same characters, and an adjacent city.
