Sonny was just playing with the people there. He went into playing a song called Reuben. It just fit into what he was playing so he just put it in there.
This song makes me want to live in the Smokies. One I truely love Bluegrass music and playing it on my Fiddle, Guitar, mandolin, harmonica and banjo. I believe I saw both of them back in Dec 1977. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
I had a job taking calls from all over the USA and I found people from Eastern Tennessee were the nicest and friendliest people in all of the country.
@Bigmrclean--back in the day Bobby's voice was the "desired" timbre and pitch for this good old buegrass music. Now it kind of sounds out of place but in the old days Bobby's voice fit perfectly. Peace out from the foothills of the Smokey's...
Seems like sometime bobby is trying to sing 2 octaves above his capability. Wonder if he's tryin to sound like bill monroe? I like him and all...just noticed this on a lot of stuff.
@bigmrclean This sounds like someone who knows very little about the Osborne Brothers. Just look at Bobby while he is singing--no straining, red-in-the-face or bulging veins in his neck--it just comes out easily and naturally. Many others strain to imitate him, but not Bobby. By the way, he is STILL singing on the opry almost every weekend at the age of 79!!
@1954hiker Who and what are you talking about? Next time actually pay attention to who you're posting toward. I've not said a word bad about bobby. I met him last year and talk to him on facebook pretty often. I know Bobby is still singing. Rocky top express put's on a great show.
I wonder if that little bit of Reuben was planned or just came out... It seemed like it was a surprise to the bass picker... At any rate they pulled if off well.
Sadly, theres not a lot of Nashville left in Nashville it is an industry town with very little heart, but you can still catch good bluegrass at the Station Inn.
Growing up in the mid-70's, the Osborne Brothers were a huge influence in learning to pick bluegrass...
Clean, Classy, Great Harmony - and years ahead of their time. So what a joy it was, after all these years to see Bobby still doing his thing, strong as ever, in Palatka, Florida last year -
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah i know what part you mean, 0:36 is it right? " If you lookin for a place you uuuh " thats what he says, maybe ...but it just make him more adorable for me ^^
63 and just got into bluegrass a few years ago. Somehow missed the Osborne brothers when I was trying to know the top artists. Obviously I missed them..
Mr Bobby is a living treasure and I am only sorry that I did not appreciate years ago. Thank you for this video of one of my favorite songs about one of my favorite places in the usa
The best version of this song - should be the theme song of east Tennessee.

i love bluegrass, i love blues, i love rock, i love jazz, i love hip hop, but i can not stand autotune.
but, rappers like Jay-Z, Nas, Slug (from atmosphere), Brother Ali, and B.I.G. are definitely talented people.

Sorry you didn't like the crowd. They acted like a Swedish crowd always did in the
70's on a TV session. If they were there, they liked bluegrass and also knew Reuben.
PS. Sweden is not a part of Germany.
Is Louisiana a part of Texas?
Tack plunky123. Har du mer? Har hittat dina + en till. Hade denna på ett gammalt kasettband, som bara gnisslar nuförtiden/Lady Miriam
