  • The harness on my G5120 is not wired for independent volume control like in the Gretsch Pro Line series (6120, etc.). The pots are wired to the selector switch so that when both pickups are selected the volume can only be as high as the lowest knob setting. It's kind of annoying.

I'm assuming your harness is wired like the Pro Line series. Correct?

  • Can you mount a Thunder'Tron on a Gretsch G2202 Electromatic Junior Jet Bass and if so what mount would you need?

  • hi tom! i have a ibanez artcore guitar, and i want to put a tv jones pup. maybe put a 3 tv jones, like a jack white style...

what is the best pup to put on a semi-hollow guitar like that?

is heavy, because in brazil we don't have a tv jones dealer...

  • Try a TV Classic in Neck and Classic Plus in Bridge. You'll want to go with the English Mounting Option using the Gibson ring. A 3rd pickup? Maybe try a Super'Tron in the Neck, Classic in the middle position and Classic Plus in Bridge. We ship to Brazil!!

  • What an excellent video

  • Hello, I have one gretsch 5125. What pickups could put I? I will be able to install pickups EM-2? that material would need?

    Thanks

  • TV Classics in the DeArmond mount (not EM-2) this guitar favors a top mounted pickup.

  • If you don't mind me asking what kind of bridge are you using. I have the stock one that came with the 5120 and I don't care for it that much. In addition what would you recommend for a George Harrison/ Brian Setzer sound. Thanks !

  • TV Classics in the DeArmond mount. the 5125 needs a top mounted pickup (not EM-2).

  • I have this same guitar same colour sounds great love those tv pickups have to get some only bad thing is I've had horrific tuning problems with it it just won't stay in r

Tune ! Even without using the bigsby :(

  • needs a complete setup.

  • omg that sound so awesome!!!! is it filtertron pickups?

  • Yes these are TV Classic Filter'trons in the DeArmond mounting option.

  • Wish I had seen this video in the 80's,

I replaced my pickups on a 335 at the time, only I used fishing line instead of the tubing, what a nightmare!

    Excellent video,

    Thanks Tom

  • great stuff really useful. tom really knows his way around a guitar ,makes it all look so easy

  • should be cool if u upload more videoss..........

    thanks

    ryan

  • nice videos tom, great idea with the tubing as well.

cant wait to get my second set of TV classics for my white falcon!

  • Some brilliant tips in this video! Not the first one you've done I bet. Any chance of a video on a Filtertron swap on a 6120?

    Darryl Chafe

  • Darryl,

We hope to have new videos, one of which will be a 6120 Filter'tron to TV Classic swap.

    Sometime in the near future.

    Thank you for your interest,

    TV Jones

  • Thank you guys for this excellent video. That was really interesting!
