  • What a beautiful voice!! Thank you Jesus for gifts you have given to man!!

  • This song is one of the most stirring songs of the church, how many times did I hear it as a young man in church, my mother and some ladies sang it at the alter service. and I too heard it on the Movie "The Trip to Bountiful" and was so moved by Cynthia's rendition.

  • Cynthia is my third cousin..and believe me we are SO very proud of her! Thank you for all the positive comments. She was truly blessed~PRAISE THE LORD :)

  • I, too, first heard Cynthis Clawson singing in the Movie THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL. It imprinted in my poor mind and I wasn't happy till I finally found the soundtrack recording years later. The movie version is far superior to any of her other (numerous) recordings of this same hymn, IMHO. She still sounds good but, oh, the purity and freshness of the 1985 movie version is something you have to hear.........

    Thanks for posting this one.

  • This song was written by Will Thompson a late song writer and preacher of churches of Christ in Texas. Used as a a theme song about the Trip to Bountiful. It was written with music but originally for acapella churches of Christ. There is not a more beautiful song of invitation in my opinion. To talk of race is to shame the grace of Almighty God. "Come Home", he who is believing and who is immersed shall be saved" Mark 16:15-16.

  • Her voice makes me hold my breath and listen to it like nobody else's. Really a blessing.

  • This video was done at an old church and everyone dressed in the old style. As to their being no blacks there, you are wrong - there are at least two - and Lillie Knuals (bad spelling) sings earlier in the program.

  • Please consider posting with higher video quality. When you started, this resolution was pretty much standard, but things have changed and higher resolution is much more pleasant to watch.

Thanks for the good audio quality!

  • what an anointing and a gift

  • WHY IN THE HE-- IS EVERYONE BICKERING ABOUT BLACKS OR WHITES JUST LISTEN TO THE SONG AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT ANYONES COLOR

  • Cynthia has an amazing voice - thank you hoover4000 for posting these video's online. I love to listen to Gospel music before I go to bed so I can have a peaceful nights rest!

  • I love this song and I love this version greatly. But...I have a question. Why is everyone in this video dressed so oddly? And I don't mean that in a mean way...but...you have to admit, they're all dressed like people used to dress in the 19th Century. Why?

  • @michaeldj5

That was the theme of this set of videos --- an old-time church service/revival.

  • Cynthia has a beautiful voice & her love for the Lord is displayed when she sings.I think Cyntia might be a fallon angel from Heavens Angelical Choir

  • This is my song od assurance. Just beleive and he will take care of you. Come Home. Yes Come Home.

  • IT´S AN AWESOME HYMN !

  • thats all it takes folks , perfect pitch, perfect timing! i am overwhelmed!

  • wow she sure does have a truly beautiful voice.

    very stunning upload John :)

  • Cynthia Clawson has perhaps the prettiest acapella voice I have ever heard. The Lord truly blessed her.

  • This lady sings with such reverence, beautiful.

    Thank you John for sharing..Barb

  • Beautiful!

    One of my Favorites.

    Thank you

and thank you John for sharing.

  • I enjoyed the beautiful music!

  • Absoulutely Beautiful. :)

  • She is truly blessed with this beautiful voice. I can feel the Holy Spirit with every note she creates. We are all very proud of her. She is a distant cousin from my mother's side of the family. Cynthia, is you are reading this, I am Mattie Walthall's middle granddaughter (Rose Mary's daughter).

  • love all of the old hymns. they told a story then and the message of Jesus still resonates today ......how you may ask...... they were inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT

  • Pure. Jesus is calling, let us run to Him and back home.

  • I am not a religious person at all, I don't believe in God or Jesus... or anything.... Yet, I cannot stop listening to this. Its a very beautiful song.

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • Beautiful....great video!

  • This hymn was a part of my childhood. But this morning, feb 14, 2010 - when I opened my eyes...this was ringing in my heart and ears. Cynthia does an amazing rendition of this song. It blessed my soul to tears and praise. Thank you so much. She is such a light and offered divine sound.

  • superb & appealing

  • I'm getting chills....

  • "A Trip to Bountiful" was so poignant, and for the main role to be played by one of my favorites Geraldine Page IT WAS TOO PRECIOUS! It's in MY library for sure! Listening to the music gives me chills!

  • I watched "A Trip to Bountiful" today. This beautiful hymn makes my heart sad for the old woman going home to see Bountiful one last time.

  • I can not wait until I see him. To see my blessed LORD and Savior. I am waiting. I am weary but my work is not yet done so I remain but one day soon...so very soon I will go home and be ever more with my glorious Savior and Lord. This song was beautiful! Very moving! Thank you Jesus!

  • I used to think that way, too. But, I now only believe in the spirit world...who or what is in charge of that place I have no clue. I've ordered that my ashes be scattered in Death Valley so that my spirit, if I have one, will roam the endless beautiful vistas of that place until the end of time.

  • @haroldsays, I too cannot wait to see my blessed Lord. I hope to see Him soon!

  • She also did Go Rest High on that Mountain, with her hauntingly beautiful voice, to this day bings me to tears, wish I could find that video

  • WOW!!

  • gorgeous...did not know about the movie or this remarkable woman...thank you

  • I first heard of Cynthia Clawson's singing abilities on the movie "A Trip to Bountiful" 1985, where this tune was the opening song in a beautiful meadow. It is a sweet southern and beautiful movie starring Geralding Page and Rebecca Demoinay, about an elderly woman's last request to see her old abandoned home town. Her rendititon of this song on the movie made it one of my favorite hymns. Thanks for posting!

  • I was struck by the beauty of this hymn as well. It was sung at my mothers funeral, later I heard it in "The Trip to Bountiful" the opening meadow scenes. It all seemed to fit so well.

  • Because of that movie, I started listening to her songs too. One day I saw on my church bulletin that she would be singing that afternoon on this church, I went, enjoyed the concert, bought two of her CDs, and got them autographed.

  • One of the most touching of all Gospel tunes. I am convicted every time I hear it. A great rendition.

  • The words of a song come alive when she sings them in her unhurried and thoughtful style. Truly amazing.

  • Reply to JesseTinsley (1 week ago): Your comment voiced exactly what I was thinking, but you said it much better than I could have.

  • Amen!!!!!!!! God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How gorgeous. I can't help but compare to Celine Dion's artificial, contrived howling. You can't fake true emotion or anointing!

  • Incredible. Thanks for introducing me to this singer.

  • I'll never forget sitting in the audience and watching "The Trip To Bountiful" and listening to this incredibly beautiful voice sing this song.

  • YES! AMEN! We sat there utterly hypnotized through the interminable closing credits listening to her sing the last two verses. Came home and immed. bought the soundtrack. This was the favorite "invitation" hymn in the little Southern Baptist church I grew up in and I'd heard/sung it a zillion times. But that night in the movie theater I really "heard" it for the first time. (That was a great movie. Another glorious movie, BTW, is Robert Duvall's "Tender Mercies". Don't miss it!!)

  • This was written by Will Slater of Texas. This is how we do it in churches of Christ. Bro Slater was one of our most popular writers, along with James Rowe, Tellit Teddlie, AJ Showalter and so many many other writers.

  • Thanks for the information! Would you mind listing some songs from your Church?

  • ''JUST WONDERFUL'' !!!!!!!

Thank You, My Dear Friend, John for sharing!

  • Just beautiful! The Trip to Bountiful...one of the greatest films of all time. I always loved the opening scene with Miss Clawson singing this...thanks for sharing this!

  • the primary reason to see "The Trip to Bountiful" is Ms. Clawson's voice. The other one is Geraldine Page.

  • I couldn't agree more!

  • thaks for posting

    amazing

    the old kohlbbrugge

  • Cynthia Clawson is an amazing talent! What a beautiful voice! I have loved her songs since childhood and I guess I always will.

  • I always liked Cynthia Clawson's voice.

  • I heard this song the other night on the new episode of Big Love, on HBO. Though the show focuses on a Mormon family, and I am not Mormon, it spoke to me. I watch the show every week and this song played touched my heart. We used to sing it when I went to church, as a child and a teenager. It gave me total goosebumps. I love Jesus and feeling close to Him is the only place I feel at home.

  • Criti,

God's word never returns void. Sounds like it is planted in you.

Big Love TV: uses God's name falsely, promotes lying, adultery, and a made-up version of Jesus. I would challenge you that if you love Jesus, drop the show as it is offensive to Him.

(if a show made fun of your mother, would you watch it?)

  • Technically and legally plural marriage and those who practice it are NOT recognised by the LDS Church. BIG LOVE is really good though, perfect cast- good story lines, makes peeps think. Does NOT sugar coat Patriarchy in LDS or any other church/religion.

  • A hauntingly beautiful song. This past week Ms. Clawson sang this at my uncle's funeral in Austin, TX, and I just had to search utube to see if it was here. Now I can share it with my friends and relatives.

  • Thanks for sharing this beautiful song by

Cynthia Clawson. She truly worships the Lord with her voice, which is so very anointed!!!

  • No matter how far I stray this song brings it home for me. I remember where it all began and where I need to be. Thank you for posting it here. GBU!

  • I dont see her best song ever here BRING IT TO JESUS thats very wierd im disapointed its not her .

  • This is fabulous; where can I get these same recordings? I bought some of Ms Clawson's albums, but none are the same.

    Keep up the great work.

  • This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for your ministry gift to the body of Christ!

  • <3 God blesses all of us! Its so true Jesus is watching over us, keeping us safe and in His care! He will not lead us to bad places unless we take ourselves there. He protects us and makes sure we are going the right way. We love you Jesus. I love this ladies voices and her songs <3 wowee! God bless you all! :)

  • Surely, she will be singing with choir of angels...she sings from her soul in this song...

  • This is my favorite church song. We I was praying and really seeking God,this song really spoke to me. Come home.

  • So great. Thank you very much.

  • Ive been looking for this for years - she sang this for the movie "A Trip to Bountiful" - so glad to finally find it here. Beautiful.

  • This is so beautiful. What a beautiful voice on such a lovely song.

  • THIS SONG IS SOOO RELAXING AND RESTFUL

  • WOW TEN THOUSAND TIMES

  • there are simply no words adequate to describe this. Clawson's voice simply fills any space, be it a church or a concert hall.

one of the most spine-tingling and God-given vocal talents ever. If you ever get a chance to hear her live, you'll consider yourself blessed!

  • Awesome just doesn't cover it. This is just breath taking. I agree with poster above, I do hold my breath when she is singing. I never noticed that before. : )

  • My face is wet with tears! Just Beautiful!

  • Her sound is so good.

  • Great song...watching for you and for me and to everybody else out there who beleived in God

  • hfpitman god given talent all the way

  • Every time I hear Cynthia sing I just hold my breath in ...... She is so gifted !!!

  • zeekwolfe you are not wrong, but you are right, it is a beautiful song

  • This is as good as it gets ! thank you sis.

  • Very impressive!

  • "Come home, come home. Ye who are weary, come home." ... simple words, yet, profoundly moving when Cynthia sings them. Her singing must surely rival the angels.

  • I love Cynthia Clawson! She has a heart of pure gold.

  • That lovely movie, "Trip to Bountiful", had this beautiful recording in the background. It made the movie!

  • I so agree. In fact, the first time I saw that movie was the first time I ever heard the sweet, pure voice of Cynthia Clawson. I set out the next day to find out who she was. She has been a favorite since. Beautiful Movie. How I encourage all to see it.

  • I have always wanted a recording of Cynthia singing this hymn, since seeing the movie. I saw Cynthia in concert about two years after the movie came out, and being disappointed she didn't sing this.....

  • Extraordinary! I cried when I first heard it in "The trip to bountiful"

  • Awesome song just beautiful

  • THIS black folk was in her audience last week, so...?

  • This song will put you "right" again.

  • I'm "wrong" and always will be, but this is still a nice song.

  • Cynthia Clawson is a true Christian... she takes the message seriously and includes the least of these in her ministry even at risk of losing her career... God bless her

  • This is such a beautiful song, God bless you for putting it here.

  • the very first time that I heard this wonderful song was in The Trip to Bountiful movie.

  • Same thats where I heard it its such a wonderful song thanks for sharing!!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ Bless You!!!!!

  • the very first time that i heard this song was in The Trip to Bountiful movie.

    very sweet and peacifuly song

  • I didn't mean to sound rude im sorry i believe that everyone white or black has soul she is a great singer i love church music very much

  • oh it's okay i wasn't trying to sound snippy or anything.

  • how come there aint no colored or black folks in the audiance? hello?!

  • "black folks" regularly attend the homecoming videos. like "jessy dixon" or "lynda randle" for example. It's just a coincidence they aren't featured in this paticular video

  • @hoover4000

Why do there have to be blacks in attendence? Don't whites have the right to be exclusively among their own kind?I just don't understand why it was brought up in the first place...

  • @14nomonkeys since im not the one that brought it up i was just responding i wouldnt ask me

  • @ohnoyouaint You didn't see the "Whites Only" sign at the door?? COME ON!! do you think they stop blacks at the door from coming in????? I'm sure everyone is welcome!

  • This song touches me everytime I hear it.

  • It's Cynthia's voice you hear singing this ageless hymn in the movie "The Trip To Bountiful." You will fall in love with the movie, Geraldine Page, and this performance by Cynthia.

  • "...see on the portals he's waiting and watching, watching for you and for me"
